Taste of Newport Coming To Fashion Island Again, With American Idol Winner!
Wednesday, Aug. 5 2009 @ 12:00AM

No, not Kris Allen, but the far superior (and yummier) David Cook, who'll be rocking the stage on Sunday September 20, the closing night of the three-day event.

The other music acts are Sugar Ray (Friday) and Train (Saturday).

More than 30 establishments have signed up so far, among them Agora Churrascaria, Back Bay Bistro, Canaletto, Chakra and Kimera. There'll be cooking demos and grub tastings, and, when it comes to booze, "delicious beers, wines and cocktails".

the rest of the info for the event is here: http://blogs.ocweekly.com/stickaforkinit/t...t-coming-again/

I saw this on DCO as one of his tour stops. I am considering going - sounds like a really fun event. Unfortunately, VIP passes which allow you in the first 20 rows are $125.00 - YIKES.

Anyone else going or familiar with the event?

I have never been before but am looking forward to going and tasting the food/drink and enjoying the concert. I'm not doing the VIP as I am going to his show in Hollywood where I think I will get up close (hopefully!). Just going to show up before the show starts and enjoy DC.

I decided against this show - I am going to the one in Fresno instead on 11/12. That's my 40th birthday. Can't wait to celebrate it with David.

Why are the West Coast shows so much more expensive? I feel bad for y'all, is the cost of living that way too?

While the VIP tickets are on the pricey side, this event seems to be somewhat different than the usual concert. All in all, most of the ticket prices out here I have found to be extremely reasonable, especially compared to concerts I have attended by other artists in the past. I have found Cook's concerts to be quite the bargain.

Yes, unfortunately. It is true. I would move away but I love So California too much.

I think it depends on the venue cuz I saw David for a $1 lol and it was totally worth it lol.

The cost of living here is expensive depending on the area b/c where I live it's not expensive to me but to my roommate from Tennessee it's supier expensive.

I would want to move away from SoCal or California in general but then i think of the amazing things that i would miss such as IN N OUT and then i say no thanks i'll stay. plus we are so spoiled weather wise that i know i'd be complaining if i moves to another state beause we have unique weather, santa ana winds and fires aside.

Very true. We are certainly spoiled here regarding the weather, especially at the coast. There are times when I would love to pick up and leave, but leaving In-N-Out is a huge reason to change my mind. laugh.gif

Now that the event in Newport Beach is behind us, I have to say that I'm grateful to have paid the extra money. Having that cool, shady VIP tent and air-conditioned bathroom made it worth it. Sitting out in the sun all afternoon can take its toll. Plus, we actually had seats and that was a plus as well. I certainly enjoyed all of the music that afternoon and, of course, it was fun to spend even more money and eat everything that wasn't tacked down. Definitely not what you call a low calorie day.
