OK anyone who's good with contests and needs tix to this concert. On 96.3 website under the "contest" tab they are having a Cooking for Cook pancake flipping contest and giving away front row seats to the concert! Hmmm not sure where this idea came from .... just happened to see it on their website today. Good Luck all you Pancake Flippers.

So I told myself months ago that my weekend was going to be epic. If I didn't already believe in self-fulfilling prophecies I sure do now. On Thursday I went to see thenewno2 in concert. For those of you who don't know, George Harrison is my idol, my GOD really, and being able to see his son in concert was just as amazing! I ended up being right by the stage and in utter awe! On Friday I was able to meet two Detroit Red Wings, Darren Helm and Ville Leino. Hockey is my second love after music so I was so happy to have met them and get their autographs.

THEN CAME SATURDAY...

I had purchased row 8 tickets. I was SO happy with them because I hadn't been that close to the stage at any of David's concerts. I was also happy because my friend Jessica, who was supposed to go with me to several DC concerts but was never able to, finally got to go! A couple months ago I had posted on my FaceBook about David being in Windsor and my friends tour manager commented that he had a friend who worked at the casino and he would try to hook me up. I told him to keep me updated but didn't hear anything after that.

UNTIL...

Saturday afternoon I got a message from him saying he was in contact with his friend and that he wasn't sure he was able to do anything but get me tickets, which I already had. I told him it was okay but to keep me updated if he found out otherwise. I really wasn't expecting anything at all because he and I really have only spoken on a couple occasions. THEN HE LEFT A MESSAGE THAT I WAS IN FOR THE MEET AND GREET. I couldn't believe it. I called my friend Jessica and she let out the most adorable scream. Not only would it be her first David Cook concert, she was going to get to meet him! (I was more excited for her than myself because I had meet David already.) I don't think I ever thanked someone so much in my life. When we finally got to Canada we picked up our meet and greet passes and there were tickets in the envelope as well! ROW 5! So there I was with two sets of tickets! I didn't want my row 8 tickets to go to waste so I decided right then and there... I was going to pay it forward. I had been given so much that I wanted to do something for someone as well. While we were in the bathroom I just announced, "Does anyone need David Cook tickets because I'm giving two away?" I gave them to a lady who had tickets already but was all the way back in section H. She seemed SO happy and I was glad I was able to make someone's night! (If you're here at The Dash I hope you enjoyed the concert!!!!)

The concert was unbelievable. I can't put into words how awesome it was. The venue was great, the lighting was SPECTACULAR... just everything was so perfect. The whole band was spot on and looked GORGEOUS. After the concert, we went to the left of the stage to prepare for the meet and greet. It wasn't a traditional meet and greet because we weren't allowed to ask for autographs or take pics with our personal cameras. sad.gif We were SLIGHTLY bummed about that but got over it REAL quick cause we got to meet David! It was like a little red carpet event back stage! They had cheese and crackers, pop and water set out for everyone. There was about 30 people waiting to get their pic with David. (The casino had a backdrop with their logo all over it and a professional photographer to take the pictures!) They finally said, "Are you guys ready!?" AND THE ENTIRE BAND CAME AROUND THE CORNER! I was SO excited! I think Jessica gave a little squeel! hahaha (She was trying to contain herself because everyone else there were highrollers at the casino. Us broke little Michigan girls felt kinda out of place!) It went by SO quickly. David shook our hands and said hello. I was in between David and Kyle and when I stood next to Peekaboo I said, "HI, KYLE!" He looked kind of surprised because I don't think anyone there knew who the band really was since they were making a huge fuss over David. So he gave me a huge grin and said hi back! And that was it!

I seriously have never been so grateful in my entire life. I woke up just expecting it to be a normal concert day and it turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Not only that, my friend, who had to deal with A LOT this past week, got to go to her first David Cook concert and meet him and the entire band! It's a night I will never forget!

The rest of the pics are up at my FaceBook!

As Teh Patty said totally epic night last night ! David never ceases to entertain - he was totally jazzed and I love how he works the stage and the audience.

The only thing I was a little bummed about is I was 5th row center stage and other than the people who rushed the stage no one was standing. A few times David told everyone to get up off their seats. I found I was one of only a couple standing and were even thanked by some when I sat down since I was blocking their view. Finally before Barbasol (I think) David said to everyone get up turn around look at your seat and say "Bye" cuz your not going to be using it again and Christ who sits down at a rock concert anyway. At that point I stood and stayed standing the rest of the concert - thank you David!!!!!!

Anyway, best memory was the last encore song Come Back to Me he sang without the guitar and the seductive things he did with the mic stand should be illegal. LOL ! Love this guy can't wait for the 2010 tour.

Congrats Teh Patty on the meet and greet - you and your friend are awesome!

I haven't posted on here for a while, but I feel compelled to say something.

I went to see David in Windsor on Saturday night. It was my 4th "Declaration Tour" show and my 6th time seeing David live, counting Ford Day and the AI tour.

As usual, David's performance was amazing. The venue was gorgeous. The lighting and stage show were awesome at the casino, and David's vocals were fantastic. His rendition of "Lie" gave me chills. At one point, he ran through the 5,000-strong crowd singing "Declaration" -- something I have not yet seen him do.

However, despite David's great performance, my friends and I were very, very disappointed with the tone of the crowd. It was extremely subdued. My friends and I were standing up and rocking out, as usual, just behind the main floor seats. All the people around us were sitting on their asses, just looking at us. In fact, the people sitting behind two of my friends actually got up and left just a little ways into the show.

And I'm sure that David must have felt the same "subdued" feeling about the crowd because, at one point, he told everyone to stand up, turn around and look at their seat, and then tell the seat that we are standing up rather than sitting down! At several times throughout the show, he asked the crowd to stand up, and about half of the people would do so. At other times when David looked for audience participation in singing the lyrics of a song, it was metiocre at best. Nothing compared what I've seen at other venues.

I kind of felt bad for David and the band. But being the dignified person that he is, David continued to give an amazing performance.

After the show, we waited outside the casino where the buses were parked, hoping to get a glimpse of David (and we did, though he didn't stop for autographs). We talked with some of the women who were waiting. One Canadian woman said she was near the stage and was standing up, and actually had someone throw something at her and tell her to sit down. Another woman said that security came up to her and told her to please stop yelling and screaming.

C'mon people. It's a rock concert. What the hell are you expecting?

So, while David's performance was fabulous, from now on I will stick to seeing David in my beloved United States. No offense to our Canadian friends, but the crowd in Windsor was a big disappointment. The American crowds are soooo much better.

I am giving Windsor the benefit of the doubt, though, and thinking that maybe it had something to do with the venue itself. I was told afterward that much of the crowd got free tickets because they were Caesar's "Diamond" members (or whatever they are called) and basically got a free/comped show. So maybe that had something to do with the tone of the crowd.

All I can say is that it was very disappointing to see such a subdued crowd at a David Cook concert. Otherwise, the show was unbelievable, as usual.
