I was inspired by sunshine27's thread "I Hope We Don't Forget To Be Real Fans"
DC.ORG: What ideas do you have to promote DC, keep him in the public eye and prove the nay-sayers wrong???? QUOTE (sunshine27 @ Jun 16 2008, 11:42 AM) i am begging for every DC fan to BUY EVERYTHING DC! ....buy his cd's go to his concerts, and support the hell out of him! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My response: Even more, we need to beg, nag, pester, and any other verb that involves convincing RADIO STATIONS to play his songs so that people who don't watch AI or know who David Cook is will hear him (that's all you need to fall in love with his music)! I didn't even know who Daughtry was (didn't really watch AI before DC except the 1st season), but I heard him on the radio, and bingo! DC needs airplay--maybe we can have a "PLAY DC" day where we all dedicate an hour to calling local radio stations and flood them with requests right before the new album comes out (wish they would play AH!!!!). I may just have to sit on the corner with my radio and flag down passers by!!! I love the idea of giving something back to David for his music (besides buying it, or course, which goes without saying!) So, DC.ORG--show your Cyber-Street-Team Spirit! What ideas do you have to promote DC, keep him in the public eye and prove the nay-sayers wrong????

FYI:
The local (to Portland/Vancouver) American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" will be July and August: sign up to volunteer! (The one closest to me is the day after the AI Tour!). Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. (there are non-track opportunities as well-see website) Link: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/par/content/...ay_For_Life.asp Link to info about relay: (and to find dates for other cities) http://www.relayforlife.org/ Volunteer Opportunites: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PAR/Content/...x_Volunteer.asp

Pre-orders for the new album on Amazon have dropped from $18.99 to $12.99. Anyone know what causes the fluctuations? Just curious...

Just curious: I wasn't at the Rose Quarter Box Office at 10am on the day the tix went on sale (just could not wait on another line!), but by the time I got there (1pm or so), my "best available" seat on the Floor was row 17. No line at all at the Box Office, though. I have yet to find someone who's gotten closer, except on a heinous scalper site--Floor Row 2 ($1200)! Anyone get better than row 17? If so, where, when and how (in person, online, phone, bribery, blackmail, related to the Mayor, etc)? I think they might reserve the first couple of rows for giveaways, group sales, VIP seats and such, but I think it's very odd.

Last night, I started dialing to vote as soon as DC's 3rd performance was over, and got through--I must have voted at least fifteen times even before his critique was over. This was a good 5 minutes or so before Ryan even went through the phone numbers. 15 votes times 3,386 registered members on this site=over 50,000 votes! It made me wonder if they open the lines even earlier that that. Since it may be a close contest next week, it might be good strategy to try to start voting during the last performance next week (and don't spread this to any websites that have competitors' fans ). I'm actually going to keep testing my phone every five minutes after the first half is over.
How do you "pin" this--I think it's important? Travis? |
