Hey, everyone. Just got an email from Nick, asking if we might be able to help him out in the Austin Music City poll. Let's get Whiskey Holler to #1 and keep it there!

Nick is one of David's friends from Tulsa and is out of the same musical scene and circle as Neal, Andy & David. You can read more about Nick's connection to our favorite Oklahoma boys here.

Nick also played for us at the Kansas City American Cancer Society benefit. And while we're still waiting for the rest of the footage to come in, here is a quick video I took from the bird's nest this past Saturday. Mr. Nick Gibson & The Can't Hardly Playboys performing Wanted Dead or Alive:

Guys, it'd mean the world to Nick if we could throw some votes his way. He & the guys are touring the midwest, playing local venues, just trying to make it, trying to catch a break so that their own musical dreams can come true. (Sound familiar?) Any radio play, media exposure, and accolades are very important to their journey.

So, what'd you say? Can we throw Nick some support and vote-vote-vote?

Thank you!

Alright folks, we showed you the photo that inspired the triple-dog-dare-ya charity challenge:

Here's the backstory: The guy in the middle is our man on the ground in KC for this entire effort. He's a good friend of David's and really busted his butt for us! One night, he called one of the charity chix a groupie, and well, then it was ON. You know, good-natured needling and ribbing just to tick her off. Well, that's when the idea for the photo above was born. Showed up at Nick's gig on Thursday night sporting "I am NOT a groupie" shirts. He was given a shirt that reads "I AM a groupie."

There were a lot of incarnations and variations of the triple-dog-dare-ya charity challenge between him and the charity chix. It all started with a challenge to get a pix of him in the Tshirt standing next to David (as if he was David's groupie); our donors had pledged a certain sum if he accomplished that task. And then . . . then he started to get into the idea of a challenge, and he brought forth the next two challenge ideas, which really upped the ante quite a bit. Insane challenge ideas that involved our favorite rocker. Out of the three challenges on the table, he was able to pull off not the least-conservative (him in the groupie shirt next to David) but one of craziest!

For details on how we're going to reveal the full photo, please visit the KC Team Captain's page.

And just for starters, here is the first piece of the puzzle:

So, what'd ya think? Who wants to see the pic?

Hey, guys. Didn't want this to get buried somewhere deep in one of the threads . . .

As of 7:42 am Central Time, Cook Fans Conquering Cancer has now raised

$27,132.08

in the fight against cancer

Congratulations to everyone! You have all worked so hard and been such wonderful advocates in the fight against this devastating disease. Take a minute or two to enjoy this moment; you deserve it. Your hard work, creativity and perseverence made this happen! Thank you!

Last night, when David heard that we had made goal and heard our total (as of then), he wanted everyone to know that he was so happy for us, and he just sends everyone a big "THANK YOU!"

Congrats, D-C.org-ers and all David Cook fans. He really does have the BEST fans in the entire world. You all just take my breath away with your commitment. Thank you.

Just got back from Nick Gibson'sshow tonight at the PBR. (For those who haven't heard, Nick is David's friend from his MWK days, and Nick played guitar on one of Axium's songs off their last disc.) Going to make this update very quick but will be back tomorrow with LOTS of deets (including the prank we played on our man on the ground in KC who has been helping us with this whole benefit, a charity challenge he has taken on, and what we witnessed among these tight-knit friedns - and oh yeah, an abolustely rockin' show!)

A few teasers/highlights:

  • The Prank: more to come, but let's just say it involved "groupies."
  • Nick's performance: WOW! I can't believe how Nick manages to incorporate so much rock into his songs/set. It was abolustely unbelievable! Having had his album on replay since I got it about two weeks ago, I was just so pleased to be able to sing along for Nick. The crowd seemed to like him; there was almost always a full dance floor. More details to come, including Pat Green taking the stage with Nick.
  • The Friends: more to come, but suffice it to say, they are all SO happy for Nick.
  • The Pix: Cooked got TONS of pix, and we'll upload in the morning.
  • The Meeting: about 6 D-C.orgers were present, and it was nice to finally meet everyone in person. Thanks for coming out to show Nick some love!

Hope you all enjoyed the show as much as I did. I loved every second of it! And I am officially hoarse from screaming my head off at Nick's show.

Sorry this is so short; I will come back and add more. I'm typing this with one eye open and one eye closed, because my body is shutting down, asking for sleep.

Be back soon.

Really need some help here! We are moving *FAST* as merchandise plans have fallen through (and then fallen through again and again and again). We are on back-up plan #5 or 6, and we have run out of time. We need to make some quick decisions, and we need your help to see what might resonate best.

Cook Fans Unite 2 Fight is the name of our benefit in Kansas City.

Proposed Magnet option?

Sticker option (more linear for bumper sticker, of course)?

Thank you in advance for your feedback. We really need some help here, guys, as our backs are against the wall. Appreciate all thoughts and support! I should add that, of course, proceeds go to the Cook Fans Conquering Cancer effort in support of the American Cancer Society. smile.gif
