I am here posting because I have a concern about the recent censorship that has occurred over at the Cook Fanfics section.

As a writer, I have serious problems with censorship to begin with. The restriction of creative license is something that I don't deal with very well, and it's become more of a concern to me lately, as my newest story involves a character who uses strong language as a part of her daily vocabulary. It makes it extremely difficult for me as an author to even write a chapter, knowing that every couple of her words will be bleeped out. It takes away from both the meaning and emphasis of her words, which hugely complicates my ability to communicate who she is as a person.

I know that there are younger users on this site, and that they should not have to be exposed to that kind of language. However, isn't the use of a password on the forum enough? Is there even a point to having the password if all of the 'strong language' that is warned about on the main page is taken out?

One of the things that bothers me the most is the fact that there was absolutely no warning to any of us about the impending censorship of our work. Even if there was nothing I could have done to prevent it happening, I would have at least liked to have been made aware that it was coming so that I could have been able to express a concern before it happened rather than after the fact.

I figured I'd start here, at least, and express my concern.
I hope that this is read, and replied to, so that I can understand what is going on here.

i just posted this in the fanfic area...hope you understand:

Many of you have probably noticed when you type in a "bad word" it will bleep it out. I have turned on the Profanity filters last night because of constant cursing outside of the Fanfic area and I cannot set it for individual forums. This, in return, affects the fanfic area. If you MUST curse, spell out the words with spaces in between or be creative, but in order to prevent cursing outside the fanfic area, it has to be set in here as well (overall board setting).
