I like country in small doses. I know a few people who play country, but they are not huge names. I don't break my neck to find a country station to listen to. Really, I like Southern Rock which they also put under the country umbrella the most.

I absolutely LOVE Rascal Flatts. They are my favorite country group. Plus the guitar player, Joe Don Rooney, is pretty cute. Definitely a nice mix of artists you have there.

Barbarella I remember you were supposed to go see Daughtry/Lifehouse (sorry I haven'y lurked the Daughtry thread), how was it? You can pm me if you don't wanna talk about it in the country section unsure.gif

^DAUGHTRY may not be country, but he did do a country song with Vince Gill...another talented country artist I might add. Not a huge fan, but I like a few of his songs. So, he may not be country, but he has country connections wink.gif

Anyways, the concert was fantastic. I was right in the front row on Josh Steely's side. I didn't want the show to end. They ended up coming outside after the show, but I didn't stay, because I figured I had met them, it seems to take awhile for them to come out, and I had to get up early too. However, the people who did decide to stay only had to wait about an hour. Now if I knew that I definitely would've stayed sad.gif Oh well...next time I will stay! After we listened to a couple of the songs at soundcheck and I took tons of pics wink.gif we were in line to meet them biggrin.gif My friends and I already decided that we were going to get our pictures taken with them separately (we probably would've fought over who was going to stand next to Chris if we took it together wink.gif). Well, I ended up going last, because I had a purse. So, I finally get in there and start heading for them, when one of the bodyguards told me to stop. So, I stopped...I was halfway to them. There I stood, like a weirdo, halfway to them. So, I'm standing there and Josh Steely turns around and says 'Hey there'. I said 'Hi' back and I still couldn't go and meet them. Finally, after what seemed like forever I got to meet them biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I got a hug from Steely and Chris, a half hug from Brian and a handshake from Josh Paul. My picture came out really, really well...I was pleased. I was afraid that I was going to look horrible. I did miss Joey Barnes though. I looked at previous meet-and-greet pics and some of the poses that Joey did...oh how I wish he was still in the group.

I also caught a drumstick from Robin...the drummer for DAUGHTRY. After they finished their encore, he comes down with drumsticks in his hands and started tossing them. Well, the first one he tossed, I jumped up and caught it. I hit the girl behind me, on accident of course, and said sorry. She said it was okay. No one even tried to fight me for it or grab it from me...I was surprised!

The show was amazing and I can't wait to see them again. I was saying on the DAUGHTRY thread that it I would love for Cook and DAUGHTRY to go out on tour together.

Wow! It sounds like you had a really great time. That's good that you liked how your picture came out (I hate myself in pics). It does suck that Joey is no longer with them, he really seemed like the fun one of the band. Robin is a good drummer though (I can't believe how fast he learned all those songs) and yay for you at getting a drumstick not so much for the girl behind you lol tongue.gif. I remember him tossing them out, wishing I'd get one but I was to far from the catwalk.

That was an AMAZING show! I love Daughtry but Lifehouse with them..........get out! Lifehouse is my all time favorite band.

Don't even mention Daughtry and David, I can't even think about that ohmy.gif

As for the Daughtry/Vince Gill song, wasn't the hugest fan of the song but after seeing/hearing them together on one of the country awards show I grew fond of it smile.gif

He does have country roots. I remember when he was on Idol and it was country week, that he said his family was a fan of country, and that he was the odd one out, because he listened to rock music.

So, Carrie Underwood is officially married since yesterday. Married hockey player, Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators. Kellie Pickler and Miranda Lambert are also due to get married. Everyone seems to be getting married...at least in the country world. Congrats to everyone.

Already? That seems so fast, I didn't think it was so soon. I like the idea of Miranda and Blake getting married cause they both seem like awesome ppl. Ever notice how funny Blake is? Every time he's doing an interview he cracks me up every time, love him.

Been to any country shows lately?

Yea I've noticed Blake has a sense of humor. Not a fan of Miranda though...she seems to not really have a personality. Like when her picture gets taken or even when she's talking, she doesn't seemed thrilled to be there or something. IDK.

The last show I went to was Rascal Flatts...that was last summer. That was my fourth time seeing them...well 5 if you count when they opened for Brooks 'n Dunn in the early 2000's...I think it was 2002. I had horrible seats last time. I got the VIP tickets off their site and I was only 2 sections to the lawn. They were playing at Darien Lake and I told myself that I wasn't going back their to see a show, unless it was cheap or I bought the tickets through the carrier (in that case it was LiveNation). I was really disappointed. I'm a member of their fan club so I get pre-sale tickets and they say they are suppose to be the first 20 rows of the concert. I wonder, because it was Darien Lake they had to make an adjustment...idk...I was really upset. Plus, I pay this money to see them and I have people going in and out of the rows constantly, they smell like beer and cigarettes. You know, I didn't come here to tailgate...I came to enjoy my favorite country artists. That's why I love being near the front, because there people actually enjoy the show and care about them and not constantly leaving and coming back. Then, my camera was acting up and people were a$sholes as I was trying to leave. So, Rascal Flatts were fantastic (as usual) and Darius was great, I just hated everything else! Oh I met them too biggrin.gif

You know I've never really seem to notice that side of Miranda at all. I don't own any of her albums or anything but I've liked all her singles she's put out. I've been a fan of hers since she came on Nashville Star.

Wow, you've seen the Flatts 5 times smile.gif I've seen them twice and they were really great. I'm sorry about your horrible seats. I do know how that goes. It really does ruin the experience when you have ppl walking back and forth in front of you, it's like how many beers can one person buy. Really just don't even come back to your seat if your gunna get up every 5 minutes. That's really awesome that you got to meet them. It is hard to even get an autograph these days when someone is already huge unless it's a vip/fan club thing.

Last show I went to was in May, Tim McGraw/Lady Antebellum/Love And Theft. Now I'm not a fan of Tim, maybe just a song or 2 or 3. Loove Lady Antebellum seen them b4 andd they were great. I really wanted to go to this show to see L &T. I wasn't even going to go cause I didn't want to pay $45 for terrible seats just to see opening acts so my dad actually came through and scored a couple of free tix. Horrible seats but better than me not going at all. I was real disappointed that Love And Theft only sang 4 of their songs plus "Wrong Baby Wrong" (cause one of the guys wrote it, did you know that?). Anyways they did the 2 singles and 2 of the songs that are my least favorite off their album...of course. They said they were going to be meeting ppl and taking pics so I (who never approaches anybody and hates taking pics) found myself in line laugh.gif . Got a pic signed and took a pic, they were nice. I didn't even get to tell them how much I loved their album cause I was so dumbfounded and nervous lol.

I know the concert has passed, but congrats and score on the free tickets. Nothing sweeter than free...even if they're terrible seats. You can't complain right? Congrats on the pic and meeting them. I'm glad they were nice...they seem nice. I hate when celebrities/musicians are a bunch of a$sholes, because it just seems to ruin everything. It's almost like, can I even be a fan of your anymore? Like Screech from Saved By the Bell (use to watch the re-runs). I wasn't a fan of his...more the show. But when I saw him on Celebrity Fit Club and what a douche he was, it's kind of hard to watch the show with the scenes he's in. You kind of felt bad for him and wanted to give him a hug at times, because of the things he was put through, but now I could care less. Sometimes it's probably better not to meet them so you don't have to be disappointed.

I like Tim's older music. It seems like Lady A would put on a pretty good show. Kind of surprised that Love & Theft only did 4 of their songs off the album. Of course they would sing the songs that are your least favorite...happens all the time. When Cavo opened for Daughtry, they sang I think 6 songs. No, I didn't know that one of the guys wrote Wrong Baby Wrong. That's a pretty big hit for Martina and for his case too...cha ching. Did you know that Love & Theft were on the same record label as Rascal Flatts...Lyric Street? Unfortunately, Lyric Street records closed. So, they say that Rascal Flatts will be fine, because they've been around for quite some time and have established themselves as artists, but I wonder what will happen to L&T who are just starting out?!?! I hope they find homes for them and the other artists out there. Shoot, RF could probably open up their own record label...if they really wanted to. They could call it the 'Dog Pound' label wink.gif

Completely agree with everything you said up there. I was pretty disappointed the first time I saw Daughtry and he/they didn't come out after the show cause there was like 10 people waiting, I mean really? Was even more crushed when David or any of the guys didn't come out either knowing that they come out pretty much all the time. I understand completely that they needed to head out for the next show and that they were tired but it was such a small group but who cares I'm over that lol.

Yeah I remember Cavo doing like 6 songs. I would've thought that L&T would've done a couple more songs. I did know about them both being on Lyric Street and yeah RF have nothing to worry about at all. The Dog Pound label sounds like a great idea and I'm sure they could do it. Maybe they could sign some Love And Theft lol. I was so mad when I found out that L&T were hear last year and did one of the radio stations $5 summer concert shows. I had no idea whatsoever so I found some videos on youtube and found out they did a bunch of songs angry.gif . I still can't get over that I didn't know anything about that.

Found out that Jimmy Wayne is doing one of the $5 shows so I think I just might go. I've never seen him before.

I've never seen Jimmy Wayne before either...I like some of his songs. If you decide to go have fun.

Wow $5 radio concerts...that's pretty cool. Over here in Rochester, the Bee (Rochester country station...WBEE) will hold Guitars & Stars twice a year; usually one early in the year...April/May and then one usually in November. They get artists that aren't 'huge' and they come together and do acoustic versions of their songs. It's pretty cool actually. Last few times they've gotten 6 artists/bands. They get people who have just come out to ones who've been around and they get the 'headliner' title. Like Josh Turner, Sara Evans and Phil Vassar are just a few who've been headliners. What's also neat is that they can be singing their own song and another artist will either start doing harmony or start playing a guitar. It's a semi-small venue. Tickets always sell out. For one Guitars & Stars they had Jimmy Wayne, Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler, Sara Evans and Phil Vassar...there was someone else but I can't remember who. All I know is that I really wanted to go, but tickets sold out. The first 4 people in line but all the tickets (tickets were sold at the same grocery store, but the stores were located in different areas). I was really upset. I of course tried to win tickets, but never did sad.gif Tickets weren't that expensive either...$17.50 for bleachers and I believe $21.50 or $22.50 for gold seats (floor) plus a small service charge. The money goes towards something.

Oh wow that sounds great. Some great artist you mentioned. I'm sorry you didn't get to go. I love when they get a bunch of acts together and still get a decent ticket price. You really can't beat that. Hopefully the next one will have even better acts and you can go biggrin.gif

That's how the $5 shows are, up and coming artist. They usually do about 3 or 4 every summer and some times it's 4 acts in one show. I've seen a bunch of awesome ppl at these shows like Emerson Drive, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Josh Turner, Miranda Lambert and a bunch of others who've all blown up on the radio. I'm really hoping if they do another show (cause Jimmy Wayne is the 3rd show already) they bring Danny Gokey cause I need to see him real bad lol. Usually I'm pretty good at calling who's coming to these shows so *fingers crossed*.

Hopefully you get to see Danny Gokey. He was up here a few weeks ago when he was (or still is) on tour with Sugarland. There was another artist/band with them, but I don't remember who. My Mom wanted to go, but never did. I didn't go, because I don't like Sugarland and I'm not that big on Gokey.

They usually put pictures up on their site of the Guitars & Stars show. Then, they'll play clips on the radio and sometimes will show the whole show. Of course you have to be watching it on your computer at a certain time and I always seem to be doing something and can't get around to it...grrr. I can't wait to hear who they'll have near the end of this year. I have to wait a couple more months, but it should be interesting, because there are quite a bit of artists who just came out...Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann and Jaron & the Long Road to Love...just to name a few. I wonder if they'll have any of them.

It great for up-and-coming artists/bands to do those kinds of shows, because it gets your name out there and who knows, you may just blow up. It almost seems like that when they do things like that, they're giving back...saying thank you for supporting them as they're doing what they love to do. Plus, going on tour with some big names for a couple of years helps as well. The price is great too, because if you don't really care for some of them, you won't feel bad about wasting $5 or so wink.gif

That's funny that you don't like Sugarland cause neither do I. I did like them when their first album came out but then I don't know what happened.

Is Jerrod Niemann the dude who sings that one song that goes lover lover lover you don't treat me no good no more? If so he was here last month at one of those shows. I do really like Lee Brice's song and that Jaron & TLRTL song is just funny (love the video).

The other day the radio station was giving away free tickets to the $5 Jimmy Wayne show at a farmers market that I was at. Of course I only found out about this later on that night as I came home angry.gif . I didn't bother to check out their booth cause the last times it's been a raffle to win the tickets so I passed it up. Doesn't it always seem to work out that way?
