The Race For Hope is a A 5k race in Washington D.C. It is a fun way to come together in the fight against brain tumors. Proceeds from the 2009 Race for Hope will benefit the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure. The funds will help find a cure for brain tumors and provide support to brain tumor patients and their families.
David Cook will be making an appearance at this event. Click here for more information Please consider making your own team if you live in the area or can make it to the event. I am glad you found it helpful Kathy. I will try to check out the sites weekly to see if any new locations/dates have been added. If there isn't an event in your area, please consider participating in a Relay for Life event. This is now an International event- Relay Around the World. These are the largest fundraising/cancer awareness events in the world. We have an entire subforum here if you want more info. |

I don't know if you guys are aware of it but DCO actually has an official team set up now and they are encouraging everyone to unite as one to show support for David. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Race for Hope on DCO Hope to see everyone in DC. I know I'll do my best to participate. |

I knew they were talking about it, didn't know it was up yet, since I don't visit DCO very often. I think good idea to present united front. I do want to clarify that if you want to participate in one of the other events (non D.C.) you would have to start your own team. However you could use the same name as them, and post info in that thread to recruit fellow fans in your area. You can be a virtual runner in the D.C. event, but some may want to participate in an actual event closer to their home. Doesn't matter what you chose to do, it is just nice if you can participate in some way. I am sure there are plenty of volunteer needs as well. Check out the links to see what info is available for volunteering. |

It is official that David himself has a team for the D.C. Race for Hope. Please consider joining his team and starting your own fundraising efforts or making a donation to his team. David has set a goal of $10,000- his team has already raised over $8,000. Do y'all remember what all the members here accomplished last year during the AI tour? We raised over $10,000 in a month and then over $26,000 by the second Kansas City concert. I know we all love David and supporting a great cause. This is David's first official charitable fundraising effort, lets all pull together and help him exceed his goal. I bet we can pull together with all of David's fans and at possible double David's goal of $10,000 by race day.
Here is the link to his team page: http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/site/TR...p;team_id=23010 EDIT- Holy Crap Y'all David's team is less than $1000 from reaching his $10,000 goal. David has the best fans in the world!! |

My donation has been made. I will wait for the event to come here to Arizona so my family and friends can participate locally. This is awesome and I am so excited that David is "officially" supporting this.

David's team is now #5, well on the way to doubling David's original goal. I think David forgot how active his fans are in fundraising.
Now team # 4 at over $14,000 and counting. This is amazing! |

A very young friend of mine was just diagnosed with a brain tumor, so this is even closer to my heart right now. David, Mr. Honorary Chairman, please bring a 5K to the Boston area so I can participate! |

I'm looking at my schedule to see if I can go. I'd becoming from Yorktown, laeddie. I can't run, but I can walk. This cause is dear to my heart because when I was working as a nurse I worked on a neurosurgery unit. This disease has also touched friends of mine, more like slammed. I will be contributing one way or another. |

At least if I go with a couple more people - anybody else?? - they won't worry about my safety! |

Oh man. I really want to start running 5Ks and what a way to start. I wonder if any of my fellow nurses and oncologists would join me. 5/3 doesn't seem like a possibility for me though. I'll be waiting for this year's Philly date perhaps.
Wondering what I could do to make 5/3 work . . . |
