I dont hear many people talk about "All Right Now" being one of Davids best performances, and in fact, when he was interviewed right after his AI win and mentioned that song, only like one person cheered, to which he said thank you to the one person who liked that performance. However, I think he did really good in that performance and every time I watch it, I see more and more of his charisma. What do the rest of you think. Alot of people say he had them at "Hello". Did he "have anyone" before Hello?

I think All Right Now was a very good performance by DC. Like he was giving a concert. I liked it better than Happy Together. Good choice of song for him. Very sexy, masculine performance. Very strong.

I've read a blog where a lady does an analysis of his energy fields during some of his performances(This is interesting but I know nothing about it.) Her take on ARN is that he is using his physicality, and sexuality in that song, but not the higher sources of energy like the heart. That's why it didn't grab us like Hello.

Really the word nerd segment grabbed us more that night because it was unique, vulnerable, funny.

Remember when DC spoke about having to break down walls between him and the audience between week 2 and 3 because he had walls because of things he didn't want to deal with due to bad relationships or something. The vocal coach encouraged him to work to break down the walls. That was between week 2 and 3.

Then you have Hello. He is more open, more vulnerable, more emotive in that song, shows his heart, his heartbreak, his longing. He reached out and grabbed us all with that. Showed a flash of high heart to her.

In her analysis, he progresses to integrate his whole body, heart and spirit into his songs as he goes along. He seems to learn to do this as he goes along on Idol. That's why he seems to soar to us, I think.

If it's ok to post it, it's on the Bitten by a Cougar blog; under Here Kitty Kitty, gaze into my crystal ball. I love the analysis. Haven't any knowledge, belief, or experience with that type of analysis, but find it interesting how another person explains DC's uniqueness. She's an older woman and not fangirled out by any means. Very higher order thinking.

I really think DC would find that thread interesting, more from how his energy is perceived with his different songs and styles, and the journey on AI. I wonder if he'd agree with the analysis based on what he remembered feeling during the songs. Might be a learning experience for him about how the audience sees him.

Really DC reaches out beyond his voice, his music, with his heart and soul and when he does that, it's magic. Don't you wonder if he knows that is his magic? Surely he has got to know that somehow.

Wow, that is so interesting and I think she is right on. I think that was what David learned between week 2 an 3.
David is very intelligent, I think he knows he connects with us because of his willingness to give from his heart, but I wonder if he can really totally understand how we feel about him because it is so one sided. I mean we feel we know him, and love him for who he is, but unfortunatley he cant know all of us, we are strangers to him,... sad but true. Therefore, I dont think he really understands our side of it. I think we truly love him, but I dont know if he can really understand that. Think about if the situation were reversed, wouldnt it be a little odd????

I remember I caught All Right Now in the middle of it, and then I saw him talk back to Simon and I figured that he wouldn't last long. But then he sang Hello the following week and I was just done.

So yeah, he had me at Hello. smile.gif

I thought the same with All right Now and David talked back to Simon. I also thought he would be gone if that kept up. Having said that it also gives insight into Davids character he knew that was not going to get him anywhere and he never replied that way again. Hello did it for most people I talk to and he just kept convincing me every week after that. I felt a Big night was Music of the Night, Always be MY Baby and another favorite is The First Time I saw Your Face.

Yep--- He had me at ""Hello" too. It made me really focus on him every week. And then when it was a Beatles week and he sang "Day Tripper" I was a total gonner. Go back and watch it and tell me if that wasn't a "hook, line and sinker" moment. Keep your eye on every part of that performance. The energy and sexuality in that performance was unbelievable. Simon may have thought that was just an average performance, or whatever he called it, but we knew better didn't we?

I knew from "Living on a Prayer" I had my money on him from day one! I loved him from then on and I knew I had to watch for him and I just loved his rendition of "Everything I do." He had it all to me! I just loved him I was hoping he would get kicked off so he wouldn't be so big and of course he went all the way. I was being selfish I wanted him all to myself. Because I was a fan from day one I said it to my mom already!

Hi all!

I started paying attention at 'Hello', but he had me when I saw his absolute joy after singing "Eleanor Rigby'. He was so happy, confident, bouncing up and down! I love me some happy Cookie!

I definately noticed him at his audition...between the mention of Daughtry before he sang, and then singing Livin on a Prayer (Love me some Bon Jovi) and pulling it off so amazingly, my interests were sparked. I memorized him that night...I usually pick my favorites from the auditions and hope to see them again during Hollywood week. But, like so many others, "Hello" blew me away...from then on, I had eyes (and ears) for no one else... wub.gif

"Livin' On A Prayer" definitely had me. Bon Jovi and David Cook is quite a lovely combination.

I personally liked all of his performances, not only because he was my choice for the show, but how he presented himself and how he changed it up and took risks. Of course, you can't really like "Happy Together" because it's a pretty cheesy song, but you go with what you have available.

I PAID MORE AND MORE ATTENTION TO HIM EVERY WEEK, HE KEPT REELING ME IN LITTLE BY LITTLE. BUT WHEN I FINALLY "FELL" FOR HIM WAS WHEN HE WON. HE WAS SO HUMBLE AND SO SINCERE AND SENSITIVE AND HE WANTED ALL THE IDOLS TO BE PART OF HS WINNING MOMENT.THE RESPECT HE HAD FOR ARCHY AND THE OTHERS IS SOMETHING YOU DONT SEE OFTEN, ESPECIALLY IN COMPETITION. THATS WHEN HE TOTALLY HAD ME REELED IN. WHAT A GREAT HUMAN BEING, I THOUGHT. AND THAT WAS IT

I admit that the way he handled the win was just wonderful. How he communicated his love and respect for Archie and the other Idols and gracefully accepted the win. He really lifted Archie up with him in the win, and the others. You got the feeling that they were all winners the way he handled it. Especially to him. I got the feeling that he wanted to win, yet he didn't want to win over Archie. That he didn't want to hurt Archie in any way by winning.

And I have to admit that Archie handled not winning equally well. Showed respect and admiration for DC and no resentment for not winning. Genuine admiration. I do think their relationship with each other shows the strength and good nature of their characters. I think they both have kind hearts. Both DC and DA are definitely more than just their singing voices. DC's love for DA brought us all to love DA if we didn't think he was a nice kid already. They both were great at reducing the fanwars.

I absolutely love David's performance of All Right Now and I loved it when Paula said that every kid in Jr. High who was playing a guitar learned that song and all the girls loved them. (close enough) David's reply was something like, "I'm alright with that". Love that guy to pieces! I had actually never watched Idol before this season. I was just channel surfing one evening and there was this guy singing "Happy Together" and I thought he was cute and liked what he did with the song, so I tuned in to American Idol the next week and have been totally cookified ever since! Yes, he showed a lot of confidence and amazing vocals and sex appeal way before Hello!

Yes, I think he had me at "Hello" although I remember the audition "Livin on a Prayer"--mostly the hair--and thinking this guy has a great voice! However, he really "hooked" me with "Hello". I actually started thinking this guy might be here for a while and then there was "Billie Jean" . He blew me away with that song and still does. After that I was a die-hard David Cook fan watching every week as he did amazing things with songs I had since grown tired of...he gave them all a new glorious life. After "Always Be My Baby" I knew that if he continued to create new versions of covers like this..he had a good chance of winning.

However, I sometimes feel a little sorry for the original artists of the covers he did..because if I had my choice as to which version to listen to it would definitely be David Cook's and I know I am not alone. When I now hear the original versions, they sound so "flat" to me.

In a word....yes. And I didn't even realize it until well after the fact.

I remembered David's audition clip for the same reason dcfanforever has stated....the hair, that's actually what made me turn around and watch the audition, and I was overly impressed. After that....I didn't really think anything of it,it was one of those "keep this guy's name in mind...see how he does." Same feeling continued after Hollywood Week and Everything I Do....not really noticing, but not ignoring him either. A few more performances pass, same reaction.....I figured at that point I had no clear-cut favorite and I didn't really care who won.

The week he did Hello.....I was at work, watching the show on my break when Seacrest mentioned David Cook was doing Hello and I was kinda like "HUH?" blink.gif Yeah....drew me in for sure,so I sat and waited for the performance. Show went to commercial and came back to David's performance.....with NO SOUND. I was seriously pissed b/c it was the one performance of the night I had actually taken interest in and I didn't get to hear it. So I get home and went hunting like a mad woman trying to find an audio so I could hear it. This was my reation..."Holy Sh*t.....he's good" From then on,I was Cook FTW. biggrin.gif

I was captivated the minute I saw David on Hollywood Week. I thought he had something special but not just his voice. Watching him perform was a little bizarre for me. He and my grown son share such similar mannerisms that it was originally strange to watch DC perform. Family members watching American Idol even called to comment about it. My son is left handed, majored in graphic design, had pyloric stenosis and gives awesome hugs. Did I mention that his name is also David. Unfortunately, my David can't sing! David Cook's awesome voice was the icing on the cake. I was a forever fan after Eleanor Rigby. His obvious talent and joy did it for me. Every performance reeled me in a little more.
