I know I'm not a moderator lol, but I've noticed a lot of people are asking the same question lately, as to how to post a picture and/or how to place a banner in their signature.
Instead of constantly having to write the same thing over and over, I think it would be best if all people were to read this topic first. Otherwise we have too many of the same topics taking up the help section. To upload an image in your post (not signature): First, you need to upload your picture(s) on a host like Photobucket, Tinypic, etc. Once you do that, you need to use the code that begins with: [ img ] and ends with: [ / img ] (minus all the spaces). Usually it's called an "Image Code". Just copy and paste that into your response. To upload an image/banner into your signature: Go into "My Controls" and then under the Personal Profile section, you will see "Edit Signature". You can either upload a picture directly from your computer or copy and paste the IMG code from your host site (like I mentioned above, ie: Photobucket). If you still have questions on the signature, you can click on "BB Code Help" (which is underneath the signature box) and that will give you several other common codes. I hope that helps answer your question! Good luck! Perhaps Travis or one of the mods could "sticky" this, so it doesn't fall down the page? |

At the top of the page you'll see "my controls" click that, and on the left side of the page you'll see a section "Personal Profile" and "edit avatar settings". Click that and upload the pic you want as your avatar in there

any thoughts on how to change my 'starting to like cookies' part, or is that something the moderators change based on number of posts or something like that? You can customize it once you reach a certain number of posts. I believe it's around 200. Up until then, it's all automatically done. |

Hey, newbie here. I've seen a lot of photos that are thumbnailed (or small in size) that you can click on to open in a new window at a larger size/higher resolution. Are those controls available here, or is this something that's done through a third party site? I use PhotoBucket.
Thanks!! |

There's a browse & upload button underneath the text box when you make a post..uploading your pic instead of linking to it will give you the thumbnails. |

I am usually pretty good around computers, but I still can't get my signature to work! I've researched it in the Help section among other places, and am really frustrated. I uploaded the banner to snapfish, copied the image name and placed the correct tags in the beginning and end. In the BB Code help, it looks like this should be done on three lines. (see my sig below.) I've tried it on the same line, too. Still no luck.
Any suggestions before I pull out all my hair????? thanks, Jo Ann ps Could you just show me your own code for your signature so I can see what I'm doing wrong? |

Jo Ann, I don't think you need to do the line break - let it all run together. I use PhotoBucket and c/p the IMG code to my signature box. Here's mine: [NOTimg]http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n297/CathyEM_2006/DCSuperherocopy-1.jpg[/NOTimg] -- take off the NOT before "img." Good luck! |

Jo Ann- you needed to remove the url tags from the string. It's all fixed Many thanks to you and Brighteyes for your suggestions. Unfortunately, the sig that I really want to use (thanks to Amy!) is uploaded to Snapfish, but everytime I try to change my sig, I get this error message like: "Sorry, you cannot use dynamic page in [img]" Does this mean I can't use Snapfish? I'm assuming the way you get the "image location" is by right-clicking on pic, right? OK one more question. When I try to use a photo already on my computer in my sig, I click the "insert image" but a box comes up asking for the url address. What should I do? I'm almost there |
