I know this is random...but I was listening to DCTR this morning in my car, blasting it on full volume! Even after listening to the record like 100000000 times, I still get chills and emotional on some of the songs.
I'm really looking forward to a new single. Is it safe for me to predict that he will either release Declaration or A Daily AntheM?? A Daily AntheM is my fav on the record, even more so because it is 100% written by David before Idol. And I get a feeling that these songs will be a hit! Side-tracking a little, found out that Kris Allen was allowed to rid off No Boundaries on the current Idol Tour! Great news for him...... I think there is a tiny bit of jealousy from David TOML is not that bad and even if it is, David made it sound good! Magic Rainbow is the best selling coronation song to date.......platinum, no kidding and it is the most played coronation song on commercial radio! I'm still hearing it on my local radio stations! He made it sounded like a normal pop single on radio! not lame, not cheesy (ignore the lyrics, though)! |

There's been a lot of speculation about the next single... I'm pretty sure that Lie will be in the mix while they're trying to decide... ADAM would be great for me, because (though it's so hard to decide) it really is my fav song on the album (but I love the whole thing) Avalanche has also been suggested as a possibility for the more adult alternative stations. I think that it depends on which demographic they're hoping to hit up with the next single.
But, I did hear him mention in some interview that a video for 'Lie' is a possibility in the future, soo.... I dunno. |

I think all the songs on his album would be a hit. So I think he should release them all at once
Oh Kiss On the Neck would be good too |

I really nwat Declaration to be the next single. I've wanted it to be a single since I first heard it. The whole record is amazing but he needs to release something upbeat.

^ Agreed. As far as more upbeat rocker songs, Declaration is a definite candidate.

Awww, I gotta vote for Heroes or Avalanche. Or I Did It for You. Or a real stretch, since it's only on the Walmart bonus track, I think Breathe Tonight would be his biggest hit ever, and bring in a whole new fan base. This is the one song even my friends who don't like DC appreciate. But that coming out as a single seems like wishful thinking...

Like I said before, I really think it depends on the demographic they're looking to reach with the new single. Avalanche would soar on more adult alternative type of stations, even the more mixed stations, but Declaration is a more obvious choice to transcend the most stations, I think. Though Heroes would probably work well, I really do think he needs to put a rocker out, like Declaration, though Breathe Tonight would make an AWESOME single, though, like you said, since it's only the Walmart bonus track I doubt they'd release it as a single.
Well, in any case, no matter which song gets put out, I'm gonna LOVE hearing some more DC on the radio. |

I'm hoping the next single is Declaration. It's been my favorite song on DCTR from the start, really since we first heard it when he sang it on SNL.
The next single definitely needs to be upbeat. LO was a moderate success on Top 40, but a resounding success on HAC and AC. CBTM, however, has not fared as well on Top 40, although, again, a resounding success on HAC and still up and coming on AC. I don't know why CBTM wasn't as well received on Top 40 as LO was (some say it's bec CBTM sounds too much like Rob Thomas, Daughtry and Matt Nathanson), but maybe a more upbeat song might do better on Top 40 -- there has been a slight resurgence of rock songs on Top 40 with the likes of All American Rejects, Shinedown, Cobra Starship, Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman and now Kings of Leon, making it into the Top 20 and some even the Top 10, all making some inroads among the Pop/Hip Hop/Rap that over dominate the Top 40 chart. It was six months between the release of LO and CBTM, so in that same vein, we should see a new single at the end of September/beginning of October. Declaration should fit in Top 40, but it'll definitely make it big on HAC. Then after that, by next Spring we can see another single in Lie. That should take us through summer and into the fall of 2010, which would be just in time for a new single off David and the Band's new album. |

I think that it's going to be an up-tempo song with Declaration probably leading the pack of possibilities. I think it's a super radio-friendly song and could jump up the ranks of Top 40, because, as you said, rock songs have been kind of slowly infiltrating and I think it would fit in just fine. I'm so excited for the next record I can't stand it. Yesterday my dad (who I have fully Cookified) asked me when the next record was coming out, and I said "Next fall." It seems like so long, but tour vids and all of my David music is gonna have to tide me over. |

Not sure if this is the proper place to inquire, but where are the numbers for LO which should be nearing platinum? I've heard that the sales numbers for LO are hard to come by since they've dropped so far off the chart, but that best guesstimate right now is about 960,000 or 970,000 with maybe 1,000 - 2,000 downloads per week (to tell you the truth, I'm going off memory here from things I've read at another board, so I may be off a tad.) So, getting closer to that Platinum mark, but not quite. Some are predicting that it'll hit Platinum by the end of the year. Also, last I remember reading, CBTM was around the 200,000 mark. |

Not sure if this is the proper place to inquire, but where are the numbers for LO which should be nearing platinum? As Marie/willow already said, numbers are hard to come by for LO, but, here's what we have currently: Latest totals (From LadyM at DCO): QUOTE ************************************************************** A NOTE ON WEEKLY SALES FIGURES AND CHART PLACEMENTS: We rely on the kindness of strangers to get updates on sales figures each week. These may come in the form of leaks from industry insiders, or from journalists and bloggers who may report the information, and we take what we can get. Unfortunately, we will not have access to weekly sales figures for songs (such as LO and TOML) that are no longer charting in the top 200 digital downloads. However, we are constantly seeking updated totals on these tracks, and will post them here when and if they are made available to us. If what you are looking for is not listed below, try reading-back a page or two to see if someone has posted it in the thread. Still not finding the numbers you seek? That probably means they have not been leaked or reported anywhere yet. ~LadyM Sales for the week ending 7/19/09: DCTR sold a rounded 5,000 (+12%). Total = 1,205,000 #119 COME BACK TO ME sold 13,913 (+9%). Total = 274,057 Off-chart: PERMANENT - Last known total = 167,104 Off-chart: LIGHT ON - Last known total = 959,000 (as of 6/21/09) Off-chart: TIME OF MY LIFE - Last known total = 1,210,000 ************************************************************** I try to post numbers in the iTunes and Amazon Sales Chart thread when I can (Sorry, not enough time with RL, etc. to gather the numbers myself): http://www.david-cook.org/index.php?showto...mp;#entry736918 ETA: The current thought at DCO (DavidCookOfficial.com) is that LO will go platinum sometime in September, so it's not too far off. |

Ha ha, I almost added to the end of my post earlier, "But I'm sure someone (like MaryG) will come along with the up-to-date info." Yeah, I had read on one board (I never go to DCO) that they were saying LO would go Platinum by the end of the year, which I thought was a bit pessimistic -- I like your Sept estimate better. And good that CBTM has sold more since the last figure I remember seeing a few weeks ago. |

Thank you Mary G for info on LO. I keep looking on BM's news but never see anything about LO or TOML. Hope there is recognition when it hits 1 mil sales. Also have been wondering where David will be presented with the LO platinum record when it comes to pass. It is exciting that it is so close to going platinum. Thank you again. (and for all that you do here so we know what is going on with his album and songs. |

Gee, I like Declaration, but I haven't even been thinking about it as a single -- seems like he'd want to be SURE to keep that presence on HAC -- which Lie or Avalanche would guarantee. Willow, do you really think they will keep that every 6 mos schedule? I thought they'd be anxious to get out at least one more single before tne new Idol albums hit during the holidays and before grammy nominations. The question is whether they will go for a single that expands the fan base (Declaration perhaps) or one that has video/smash hit potential (Lie, Avalanche). Althernatively, I'd like to see Avalanche as a movie soundtrack! (If rock singles were happening, KOTN would have real potential IMO) |
