This is what I hear:
I know you know It seems so far away and everything is different (?)when you rest your head(???) Permanent I know he's living in hell every single day... I have no clue what the fourth line is. That's just a guess. |

Well MJ put up something on her blog re David Cook's album and lyrics:
MJ wrote this and she isn't known to go overboard for anyone in particular: QUOTE I’ve got a couple of leaks here you kids might enjoy from the David Cook fan boards. Thanks to the peeps who brought these tidbits to my attention.A poster at DC-42 with inside access to RCA was able to hear David Cook’s upcoming album (out 11/18) online and posted lyrics for “Bar Ba Sol”, “Lie”, “Permanent”, “Come Back To Me” and “Heroes.” I’ve compiled them HERE. She wrote them down as she heard them, so they probably aren’t perfect. What strikes me is how deeply personal these lyrics are. They aren’t generic, cookie-cutter pop song lyrics. The themes range from fame (”Mr. Sensitive) Letting go of love (”Lie”, “Come Back to Me”) to love of family, (”Heroes”, Permanent). There’s real emotional heft in these songs, giving Cook the opportunity to deliver some powerful vocals. “Permanent,” about those hours at the bedside of a dying loved one, is particularly intense. QUOTE This is part of the press release in which David said: QUOTE “We recorded ‘Permanent’ in two takes and everyone in the room was crying,” Cook recalls. “I actually had to leave at one point because it was so emotional. As a musician, any time you can create something where the end result is exactly what’s in your head, well there’s a heaviness to that moment and it overwhelmed me. I’ve been writing songs for ten years and that was the first time I’d felt it. I think there’s an honesty throughout the record that culminates in that song.”QUOTE PERMANENT Is this the moment where I look you in the eye? Forgive my broken promise that you’ll never see me cry And everything, it will surely change even if I tell you I won’t go away today Will you think that you’re all alone When no one’s there to hold your hand? And all you know seems so far away and everything is temporary rest your head I’m permanent I know he’s living in hell every single day And so I ask oh god is there some way for me to take his place And when they say it’s all touch and go I wish I could make it go away But still you say Will you think that you’re all alone when no one’s there to hold your hand? When all you know seems so far away and everything is temporary, rest your head I’m permanent I’m permanent Is the moment where I look you in the eye? Forgive my promise that you’ll never see me cry HEROES As the sun goes down in front of me It reminds of me of where I want to be With you and you alone Hold me in like you were made for me I’m losing faith in gravity I just need to let you know And I just need to let you know I’m not going to come down Down off of these clouds All these heroes come and go But you’re still standing You teach me to rise up To open my eyes up All these heroes come and go But you’re still standing You’re still standing You know the world’s confusing, I don’t care I crawl into your atmosphere I know you’ll make it right You’re all I need to know I’m not going to come down Down off of these clouds All these heroes come and go But you’re still standing You teach me to rise up To open my eyes up All these heroes come and go But you’re still sanding I believe that you can save me And you’ll never let me fall. I’m not going to come down I believe in what you’ve shown me There’s ahero in us all I’m not going to come down Down off of these clouds All these heroes come and go You teach me to rise up To open my eyes up |

Thank you for those lyrics. I can only imagine how we will hear the pain in his voice when we get the full songs. I'll be crying, knowing what these are about. This is why David is not just another singer making it big. I tell people about his heart and soul. Oh, this man moves me.
