What, there's no discussion of David's new haircut??? Or maybe it's just sneakily lurking in another forum. Sorry if this is a rehash. I haven't been on the board in quite a while. (I know, BAD David Cook fan!!!
Anyways, I've been watching vids of the Morongo concert from 2.27. The HAWT-est look I've seen on David in a while. I adore seeing him in a dress shirt and vest!!!! That is my favorite look for him, hands down. Along with the clothes, I love love love his new haircut!!!!!!! SQUEEEEEEE!!! *Ahem* Sorry, I got a little fangirly there for a minute. Yeah, the hair. It's HAWT. I noticed that it's the same cut as Neil's, just much more conservative. I think I will like it more when the shaved parts grow out to be just a wee bit longer, then it will be just perfect. I like seeing David's bangs off his forehead for a change, too. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is observing that this haircut is like Neal's, and seeing that David is starting to get more tats on his lower arms...I just hope to high heavens David doesn't take it much further in taking style queues from Neal!!! The piercings, ear gauges, and tat obliterated forearms....Sorry, Neal...you're an awesome guitarist, but I don't love your extreme styles. Just my 2 cents. I know some will differ and love Neal's style. So what'cha all think? |

What happened to the music, for goodness sakes? Where did it go? Somehow, it gets lost in all the other stuff. All I have heard about lately is his hair, his tan. Goodness gracious....I just don't know what to say, anymore. Jeannine |

Sorry if I offended you, Jeanine. I think I already stated in my post what I don't find appealing about Neal - it's too extreme for my taste. And I didn't focus just on Neal's looks, I said that he's an awesome guitar player!
Who says I'm focusing just on David's looks? I've posted elsewhere and on several youtube videos tonight rave reviews of songs from the Morongo concert. The reason I've focused on the David's looks here is because this is the "WEAR" abouts forum. Um, it says right under it that this forum is for critiques of David's hair, clothing, etc...if you don't want to focus on the looks, why are you even reading this forum? I say this: for goodness sake, we're all fans here, aren't we??? Why stir up strife amongst ourselves? |

Very true, this topic is about his appearance. This is a place where we can be fangirly (to an extent...lol) and talk about how gorgeous he is.
I love the hair, but I have a feeling that we won't be seeing much of it again. |

I loved David's new haircut. I hate the "combover" look he does sometimes and I hate it when he covers up his head when he is on stage wearing a woolen cap and even a fedora. Regardless of talent & it's about the music, appearances do matter. Neal is Neal & let him do his thing, but David's "look" is important. Do I find Neal extreme - yes but Neal isn't the star here.
People are funny. They focus on the music & talent & find appearances secondary but many times people are focusing on the look. It's called "the package, the "it" factor." When Carrie Underwood is on stage - she knows that her voice & her "look" is important. Sure that's a country thing....but I consider David in a "between" genre of pop and (soft) rock and I see him more as a "gentleman" rocker appealing to all ages not just your hard-core rockers/grunge types/college crowd. He has fans that cover a large demographics in age and so he has to try to appeal to all of them. If you recall, during American Idol David's hair was a mess looking as if he cut it himself & had that grunge look about him. People commented that he looked dirty & they wanted to give him a good scrubbing. Whatever....It didn't do a thing for him and though he sang his heart out - was fantastic, many people didn't like his look. Suddenly, he gets a haircut just before performing Little Sparrow and there were a lot of people who suddenly really started to notice him more. He wore a fantastic white shirt & looked sharp. He didn't have that little square beard centered under his shin (Hello) but kind of had total facial hair making him more uniform. I recall many people commenting on YouTube, not about his vocals but about that cap, having scruffy facial hair, wearing too much guyliner, the combover, the pointed toe cowboy boots, too much bling, the tats, etc. Many still comment that they wish he wouldn't look so scruffy and his "haircut" like we are doing here. When he dresses up, wears that black vest, dress shirt & has his hair looking good - everyone comments how nice he looks. Many people love the hat, love the scruff, the bling, the tats, etc., and see no wrong but need to realize that sometimes we may not look our best every day, but we need to look our best if we are public figures and aware that appearance does matter on that stage and when seen in public. It's the price you pay for stardom. |

I'm just frustrated because everywhere I see people are talking about his looks...his hair, his tan, his lips, eyes, etc. I just feel that the focus is not in the right direction. I can't imagine him wanting to hear about his looks when he is probably looking for feedback about the music that he is working on. I don't care one bit about what he looks like or what he wears. I'm trying to do this like I always do....have it be about the music and the performing. Looks mean nothing to me. Yes, I did say something to him regarding his hair, but I was partly teasing in doing that and I think he also took it as that. I'm all about the music and, hopefully, he knows that as well. Good post, reinharv! Well, to each his own...personally, I've always thought David was HAWT, no matter the look. I love his music, too. I can't stop listening to You and I, Barracuda, and Lie from the Morongo concert. : )

Look, I am way too old to obbess about David's looks as when I started to notice him on A.I., it wasn't about what he looks like. His voice & his passion, his vulnerability & soul is what capivated me. His personality mattered too. I mean he looked so scared everytime he performed a song wondering what Simon was going to say. He was vulnerable and you just wanted to hug him. When I saw his tears after performing "The World I Know" I started to cry too. It was the first time after so many weeks that he actually responded to Simon rather than saying nothing & nodding. Let me tell you I guarantee that tons of people who had no intention of voting, picked up their phone and dialed their fingers off for him - right Simon - give the "night" to David Archuleta - my foot! How many times did we see Mr. Softee during the competition and also during his concerts with tears in his eyes when he was overtaken by the crowd and so gratful and loyal to his fans. It's like he befriended us and when David makes a friend - it's for life. Sure he's easy on the eyes but that is part of "the package." Being easy on the eyes & looking sharp along with his fantastic vocals & his passion all make David Cook what he is.
It's a fact of life that a lot of people think looks also matters as it adds to the appeal. It's not just in the entertainment industry - but in everyday life. If you are fat, people discount you & look the other way--if you are fat they think you are lazy. If you are handicapped, they don't want to make eye contact. It's a fact that taller people tend to be more successful in business. You have to dress for the job you want, not the job you have if you want to be noticed in your work environment. Ugly people have a disadvantage. Though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it is valued in most socialties. If you are set up with a blind date & that person describes him/her as having "a great personality" the first thing that comes to mind is that he/she is not attractive. The first thing a person looks like is the body and then comes the personality. The entertainment business likes people who looks good. Yes, there are many entertainers that don't fit into that category of hot or sexy, but I'm just saying it helps. I like David's new hair cut, I am sure his mother likes it too. She hated his hair pre-Idol days (& during the first part of the competition) & often told him to do something with it. I like it when David looks sharp, dresses well, is fit, and there is nothing like a "Sharp Dressed Man." He's not a college kid anymore doing the "grunge" thing playing to a crowd of 10 at a bar or some college hang out. What Neal looks like or anyone in The Anthemic looks like doesn't matter because they are the band and people aren't focusing on them as much as they are focusing on David. Yes, I always thought David looked "hawt" because when you looked at his face, it was a sin that he had perfect lips, eye brows, and flawless skin; however, I loved his voice & his passion & sensitivity. You can't NOT like a guy who loves kids and dogs too. LOL |

There are plenty of other topics on he board about the music. Not everything is about his appearance here. If you don't like the discussion of it, don't read it. David has the total package, so obviously he's good looking. We're on "The Official FANSITE of David Cook", which should have everything pertaining to DC, and you can't have everything without topics about how he looks. And at least we're classy about it.

Thanks, Olivia! I'm just surprised at all the debate stirred up here because I started a thread talking about how I liked David's haircut....um, I'm NOT old enough to be his mother, I'm actually his age. So shouldn't it be okay if I wanna say he's cute?

And at least we're classy about it. i was thinking the same thing. people on this board DO discuss the music, and it isn't wrong to wanna talk about his looks. He's an attractive man, to say the least, and it doesnt make us bad fans for discussing his looks once in a while instead of the music, but i think we all know the music is what matters the most, and what we are all fan of...the looks are just a plus, and its fun sometimes to talk about that. There is only so much music to talk about. His album has been out for over a year and there is currently only one new song that might possibly be on the new album to talk about, but right now we are going through a dry period music wise with him working on his album, so to compensate, its alright to talk about his looks...i'm sure he'd be happy to know that so many women find him irresistibly attractive. But anyway...I'm loving the hair and the tan actually. I think it suits him well and is a refreshing change. He looked so dashing in that suit..and I love the tattoos, especially the dash one (i think it makes him sooo sexy, and im not really all that into tattoos). Neal's look works for him, the tattoos the gauges all of that, and although it may be considered extreme, it works for him. There are some people that just fit the extremes so perfectly, and Neal definitely does. David couldn't pull it off as well, but he can do what he wants...the tattoos he has now are perfect in my opinion, but I know he will get more. I'd like to think he would never get his ears gauged though. But if he wants to get them pierced...I will gladly do it for him for free (i'm certified). He really does have perfectly lobed ears. It would be a pleasure piercing them since i live in an area where ear mutations seem to run ramped So, yea, I like his new hair cut. |

Jeannine Looks rnt everything but they do matter! No one will take you seriously if your dressed like a "slob" or w/e (just as an example) your looks r what people percieve about you at first glance, it may be "shallow" or "stupid" but its reality. Looks tell people what you r like as a person and how you feel, we care about David and his "feelings" so we care what he wears. If he was dressed in all black, long hair and creepy make up...I think we would worry about him knowing thats not what hes really is like. Would you go to a doctor dressed in a constructon worker out-fit? No. Would you go to a male phycologist in a bikini? No. I may be exaggerating but to put it in perspective.I agree it can be "stupid" sometimes, but its the truth. Im sure David doesnt mind hearing how good he looks anyways plus he gets many comments on his music too. Who has ever gotten a compliment and not felt good about it? I can def. see your point but its all about balance As for the haircut! I love it, glad to see the bangs are out of his face again! |

I just have to say, the thought of David with his ears gauged, or even pierced, is strange!

It's a fact of life. I also loved the way he looked on the day he won idol too. I don't think he looks like Neal though. David probably isn't the type of guy who wants to copy someone else either. I don't think anything is being 'stirred' up here. Let's face it I am sure David loves it if people think he's hot - what guy wouldn't but he doesn't want to be known for being "hot" and just that, he wants his music to be the focus but he knows the "package" helps too. "Chicks man...." He's a guy but we all know that he isn't obsessed about his looks but he knows when to "dress" up and when it's okay to be more casual. I am sure he doesn't give one thought to his hair and when he thinks it's time for a haircut he either decides not to trim off the "bangs" or just tells them to trim it shorter this time. I know he's probably read comments either on DC official or YouTube when he performed at Morongo and many people commented that they loved the song & loved the haircut & that his workouts are doing wonders. I love the fact that he is very comfortable in his own skin and hasn't changed one bit but he can't be oblivious that people comment on when he looks good too. |
