To the moderators:
I would highly appreciate that members do not post anything regarding David Cook's personal life on here because it is getting annyoning and I prefer reading about David Cook's music career on here. I highly respect David Cook's personal life and wished that members would not post anything about that here, which it does bothers me a lot. I have had to contact the moderators 3 times about this issue last week.

Christina:
Thanks for stepping up and saying something - David's personal life should be kept "personal" - there will be enough media coverage tapping into his personal life over the coming months/years. This forum should not be used for the personal information. Annette

Well I mean if she's complaining about the dating thing....I think that whole vibe is over and done with amongst the people who kept bringing it up. So why post a new topic about it?

There were some older, personal MySpace or Facebook pictures posted here the other day and I thought that was a bit out of bounds. Not that there was anything wrong with the pictures, per se, just David probably back in his college days with some friends, but I still thought it was a bit invasive of his privacy (plus I think it was a little questionable as to how the person obtained access to the pictures in the first place.) I'm sure none of you on here, famous or not, would want your personal MySpace/Facebook pictures splattered across the Internet, and I believe the same goes for DC.

most people are indeed over the dating thing. i haven't seen anything else regarding his personal life.

do you mean we should just stick to the music and not talk about ANYTHING else? like his side belt buckle, his pictures with puppies and muffins, how he spent his time at home in OK and MO, what cookie he likes, etc?

Yeah, I understand the facebook pictures. I actually think it's weird people trying to be his friend on facebook, and Andrew's. Just seems odd to me. I'm his myspace friend, but that is a music profile, very public. So I would say the facebook pictures are too much, but the myspace ones are ok.

i'm kinda new to the facebook thing. why is it more "personal" than myspace? isn't like a social networking site like friendster, myspace, multiply?

Well the way I see it...just me personally...I just feel that his myspace was a way to connect with his fans. I think his facebook may be a bit more personal for him, from what I've read I don't think he's accepting friends on it. Andrew is accepting everyone though. I just don't think everyone should be adding him just so they can say they are friends with David Cook's brother. Like I said, just my personal opinion though, I'm not going to fuss at anyone for doing it.

okay. well Andrew added me after i requested but am not gonna tell everyone i know that i'm friends with him LOL he seems like a great guy though. but yeah i mean these networking sites are there to "network" and you have a choice of who you wanna accept as your "friend". i know i have rejected some people and if Andrew or David or anyone else for that matter rejects someone then it's their own prerogative. but sharing pics of your friends that were only meant for said friends' eyes... that's kinda overstepping the proverbial line.

am I the only one that thinks this thread is unnecessary? I'm not trying to be difficult but I think this board (of all places I go to read info on David) has the least amount of private info posted as it is. what else do you want? Everyone here from what I've seen is extremely respectful. I think everyone should read what you want, skip over the threads you don't want to read, etc. David is famous now and some of this stuff is going to come along with the territory.

Ok so my thoughts are as follows...

Public music pages are fine by me. If pics are shared publicly or by the person in them that's cool by me too.

I am I friend of David's on his MySpace music page. I am also a friend of Andrew's on MySpace and have been for a while and sent messages and stuff...as for Facebook...I haven't found David on there and I, personally won't request to be his friend. I am a friend of some Facebook Fan Pages for David.

As for Andrew's Facebook...I have a couple of mixed feelings. If everything on the Facebook was meant to be personal and private, I don't think he would be adding everyone and their brother to be his friend. I am a friend on Andrew's Facebook and to be honest the only reason I added him was the same as everyone else...to learn more about David Cook and the process through the eyes of Andrew. I think we are all a little curious and I feel like if it wasn't meant for us to see or read it would be private and he would have denied our requests. But...With that said, I still don't feel it is my place to SHARE any of what I have read or pictures I have seen on Andrew's Facebook or MySpace because I am not a part of the pictures or anything he's writing about and I don't have permission to do so. And I am not sure if it's right or not to post those types of things without permission or being a part of it...but at the same time I can certainly understand everyone's excitement to see more pictures and learn more about David Cook.

So my feelings are mixed. I don't know what is right or wrong but I intend to stick to the rules of the forum and not cross any lines by discussing or posting pictures of those "off limit" topics the moderators and family has asked us to respect.

No I'm right there with you, main reason I replied to the thread in the first place.

Then I kinda got sucked into the right/wrong topic. But it's all good. Everyone has their own personal opinions, and I'm completely cool with that.

I haven't had a chance to read every single thread here, but I have to agree that what I have read seems to respect the boundaries. There have been a couple of exceptions but I was glad to see they were shut down quickly. Certainly it's fun to speculate about what kind of dog he might get and stuff like that, and I can't imagine he would mind that.

I don't understand why there was another thread started about this subject. We already have 2 that are pinned by the admins in the "All About David" section, specifically dealing with this subject. One is called "Privacy Thread" and the other "I Knew Kimberly Caldwell".

I know you meant well with this topic and I appreciate that, but it's really like beating a dead horse. People are either gonna get it or they won't. Those who don't and won't respect the rules of this forum or respect David's privacy, I'm sure will be dealty with appropriately by the admins.

imo...The main Admin, Root Admin, Owner, whatever he/she goes by, should make a nice BIG LIST.
So that way the confused people (Like me) will know what to, and not to post.
smile.gif

ps.
I mean a DETAILED list
Not this "No Personal" Mumbo Jumbo
No offense but thats a big subject w/ many contexts in it.
This needs to be narrowed down and put into a easier, and more understandable message.

It makes me paranoid to even post.
