I've seen this question asked many times on here and in various threads laugh.gif so don't worry you're not alone. We probably need a glossary posted somewhere on this site. laugh.gif

I eventually figured it out for myself after I saw a bunch of posts that said "DC FTW". Don't ask me how it dawned on me. Then again, maybe it was because each time I saw "FTW" it was related to the finale and somehow I put 2 and 2 together. Don't feel dumb, though.

Did it? Wow, the first time I came across it was this year starting to watch AI, but I just figured it was common internet lingo that I never saw before.
So is it an AI thing only?

Dunno about it being an AI only thing.

Actually, FTW is a internet/gaming lingo. When I played World of Warcraft, it was used all the time. As was FTL(For the Loss). It has been around, for as long as I can remember in the internet world.

Hi, guys. I guess having some age on you can come in handy. The term "For the Win" actually started about 35 years or so ago when there was a show on TV called "Hollywood Squares". It was a Tic-Tac-Toe sort of game and the contestants would pick squares either "for the block" to block their opponents moves or "for the win" to win the game. It was a very funny show and had some real characters on it.

I gotta admit I wasn't sure EXACTLY what the FTW was. I only remember this as literally "F*** the World". These were common initials used with some biker, etc. tattoos, and that's what they stood for YEARS ago. That's how far back I've seen FTW used, but I wasn't sure if still had the same meaning now. LOL.

Oh Goodness, and Paul Lynde was always in the center square -- right????

BTW I admit I had to ask Annette about FTW, but I at least was able to tell her about ROFL (Rolling on floor laughing) laugh.gif

I was confused about it for the longest time as well.

I would see DC FTW and I would think..."David Cook F*** the World" omg why would anyone say that?? lol

I actually had to ask around and was informed correctly. But I had always used that acronym with the dirty word, so I was clueless.

I'm so proud of myself...I actually knew what that meant. And I'm one of the least informed people on 'net lingo'. Purposely, too. Can't stand the abbreviations and s**t. Bugs the hell out of me.
