Phil Marshall is a buddy of David, Andy and Neal from the Tulsa music scene. Scott, Jeannine, Suzanne and myself caught his performance at a very intimate venue in Hollywood called Genghis Cohen on 1/27/09 per recommendation of Andy and Neal on their facebook pages. He is an awesome musician. Check out his music at philmarshallmusic.com. I highly recommend Magnolia as the first cd to buy. You will quickly understand why the boys love his music.

I posted video of his 9 song performance set at genghis cohen at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1B3B73DBA94E9BD9

Here's one of my favorite songs from that he performed:

Phil wrote with David Cook. David recently named Phil-s song, "Jaded", one of his favorite tracks in the Feb Issue of "Glamour Magazine".

Bumping RIGHT NOW. Why haven't more people posted in here? This guy is amazing, seriously. And why on earth he's not hit the big time in the UK yet is just beyond me. I've been to Hull (his hometown, which actually isn't too far away from me) so many times to visit family, and I can't believe I didn't discover him before Dave came along. If you've not downloaded/listened to 'Magnolia' (or any of his music) yet, then you bloomin' need to, ASAP. So good.

My story on finding Phil Marshall music and loving it is a long and werid one. Im one of the rare ones that like Phil Marshall before he was associated with David Cook. Oddly enough I can relate my story back to David during Idol.

So live music is my drug of choice.
ive been on this mad kick to find good live local music for years now in oklahoma and ive also always wanted to work for a record company.ive come across bands like Aranda and Mintues to far just to name a couple and I even got to Davids page at one time but passed on adding it because at the time it had no music on it....i know i should have been burnt at the stake..anyways back to phil marshall

so in 2006 while searching myspace music i stumbled across a record company on myspace called yellow dog studios somehow from there got to a link to phil marshall music...instantally i became in love with its not my fault added him to my page...had that song EVERYWHERE ,made everyone listen to it i possibly could and always thought i would never get to see him live cause he from across the pond...i got to finally see him live in June when he was at Cains ,I love phil marshall . his live show was more than i could ever imagine...he is an amazing talented artist that for reasons i dont know isnt a big star yet..

on a side note i had one of those "aha" monents when david was on idol and did a photoshoot breaking his black guitar that had a phil marshall music sticker on it...its one of those way its a small world moments...once i made the connection I understand completely why they are friends...

This thread has certainly been ignored lately, so I thought I would bump it up since I just enjoyed two Phil Marshall house concerts this weekend. He and some of his friends are playing The Viper Room tomorrow night. Should be a great show. Hoping to see everyone in the Southern California area attend.

Had a great turnout at The Viper Room last night and Phil's show was amazing. I loved the positive energy and support filling that room last night. Great way to put a period to his Tour That Is Not A Tour.

He is, indeed. Also a wonderful songwriter and human being. A big thank you to Monty, Andy and Eli for backing him last night.
