I found a picture of the Cooks in line for the audition in Omaha from the local newspaper website. They just happened to be standing behind the people they were really taking the picture of!






I also thought this picture was interesting to see what the auditions inside the Qwest looked like. This one is from an Omaha radio station.

It's like playing "Where's Waldo"...lol

Notice how it's Andrew that you can really see in the pic. And DC is seen only a little bit in profile. Andrew's really into getting his pic taken and DC is just absorbing the scene.

I really think neither DC nor AI had any idea that DC would win AI. Otherwise we'd have tons of pix of him from this. If Fox KC hadn't interviewed them, we'd have nothing of the early auditions.

Wow thanks for finding this-I love to see little glimpses into the David Cook before the madness. One of the last times he could just be "a face in the crowd", right?

Nope, you weren't the only one. There were several more pictures of the crowd inside the arena on the website, so I spent more than several minutes. It would be fun to ask DC where they were sitting to see if he could find himself. As someone above said, a little like Where's Waldo!

anyways, love seeing David during the beginning.....with his low profile, seems uncaring...

I think DC truly was just going along for the ride at the Omaha audition there. You can see it from the way he seems detached. I don't think he thought anything would come of it, because he wasn't what AI was looking for. He did put energy into singing for Fox KC, but he really played it down when he was interviewed after he got the pass to the next round with Andrew. I don't think he still thought it would go anywhere then. I don't think he'd come to terms with the whole idea of AI. I think he was sort of shocked because he never expected it.

At the next round when he had the red fauxhawk and argyle vest, in his interviews, he seems to have come to terms with really trying to get on AI as an opportunity. Whole different mindset.

I often wondered if AI knew what they had when they first saw David. I've come to believe they knew they were atleast onto something when they featured him and the other rocker guys auditioning right before David's first on air audition (the segment opened with Chris Daughtry).

But we all know for sure they got the clue the night he sang "Hello".

I find that picture fascinating. It gives me chills. Just to think that no one knew who he was then, just a face in the crowd. So much has happened in just over a year, huh?

yuup i dnt think AI did think he would win.. compared to archie he must have seemed like the underdog...but he wasnt for us!!
