Thriving Ivory have to be one of my favorite bands now! Their songs are amazing and their lyrics are absolutely beautiful. Who else here likes them?

i am in LOVE with thriving ivory!!! whenever i hear a song or a band that i like, i save the name in my phone... i did this for thriving ivory and then forgot for about it for like 6 months and was so mad at myself when i finally got around to re-looking them up cuz they're ah-mazing
and i absolutely love clayton stroope's voice <3 |

I was scrolling down the list of threads to see what was here and came across Thriving Ivory. Since I saw them perform this past weekend when I went to see Ryan Star, I figured I would weigh in.
At first, I thought they were pretty good. I was considering purchasing their CD at the end of the set. However, by the time their set ended, I had changed my mind. There is something about the lead singer's voice that, eventually, I found I really didn't like. He sang from very high in his throat and it had a squelched sound. At times, it even sounded like he was sucking on helium. I wasn't the only one to notice this and not like it. Several others felt the same way. Of course, they had fans at the show who loved them. As my dad used to say....to each his own. That is the beauty of music. There is something out there for everyone to enjoy and not everyone is going to like the same thing. I wish them well. Just not my personal cup of tea, I guess. I did think their keyboard player was quite good and the band, overall, had an energetic sound and did quite well. Just don't enjoy the lead singer.
