Any Shinedown fans here? We picked up their last CD - The Sound of Madness - and was pleasantly surprised to find that Rob Cavallo produced. This CD is wonderful - love, love, love all the songs.
A week or so ago I saw a topic about Drowning Pool and was just going to respond on that thread - but silly me couldn't find it again...also like Drowning Pool. As you can see hubby and I definately like the rock and not the pop music - can't wait for David's new stuff! While I think he did a good job 'singing other people's stuff' on Idol I am soooo ready to go back to rock Dave!

The last paragraph made me chuckle and think of the ladies here. Here it is if you don't want to read the whole article. (They are talking about the Guitar Hero commercials) While it's still too early to see who has the more marketable presence, the spots during the finale did reveal that Archuleta, 17, favors boxers while Cook prefers to either wear briefs or go commando.

Fianlly! Someone who gets David! Here's the link:
http://smallscreen.monstersandcritics.com/...nt_perspiration But here's the part about David: Initially I was perplexed, but once he settled into the song I loved it. David pulls a showman move and closes singing at the judges' table – opening his hand; which says "give back," to the camera at the end. People are saying he is too full of himself. I disagree. He has charisma, but I suppose to have stage presence and juice you have to have a sense of command, control and confidence in spades. He acts like he’s made it, which isn’t all bad. Randy says he's a big fan of his, but, "I'm not sure this was one of your strongest weeks. I didn't really get it." Paula does her Helen Sinclair as she dramatically reaffirms her love: "You are it. ... And I believe in you so much." Simon says, "I didn't like this performance very much at all. I think it was a teensy weensy bit pompous. ... It just wasn't anywhere near the past two weeks." It takes one to know one, Simon. I've been sitting back and reading all the comments from all the articles each week that pop up on the internet about each show. I chuckle at the ones that talk about David being 'pompous' or 'smug' or as Simon said after Daytripper 'that wasn't as good as you thought it was'. David is a gifted and talented musician. I believe it takes a tremendous amount of confidence to get up on a stage and sing (and play) like he does. His confidence in his performance comes across as pompous or smug to a lot of people. This reporter gets it! He has charisma, stage presence and it definately comes across in his performances. |
