I haven't seen anything like this, so I thought I'd ask a bunch of questions for everyone to answer.. that way, we can see how alike we are..

I have two older sisters that liked the tv show "Rhoda" when I was born, so that's how I came to have that name. They kid now and say, "At least we didn't like the show Maude." ha. It took me awhile to figure out that there was actually a show named that.. How many brothers and sisters do you have? 2 older sisters. Nicki is 9 years older than I am and Dennie is 11 years older. What did you want to be when you grow up? I really didn't know what I wanted to do until I was almost 30. I'm a nurse and I LOVE IT!! How many kids do you want when you get married? I'm married now and I'd like one.... someday! What place would you like to visit? I love traveling so you name it, I'd love to go there! What is your favorite thing about your mom? She is so emotionally strong.. and she is an amazing mother! What is your favorite thing about your dad? He was so awesome! Funny, sweet, caring, loyal, and I just absolutely feel more blessed than anyone can imagine to have had him as my daddy! What is your favorite thing about yourself? Again, a damn hard question.. if I have to answer, I'd say I'm able to adapt quite easily to situations. Do you like to dance? Love it.. now ask me if I'm good at it and the answer wouldn't be yes.. it would be HELL YEAH! Do you like to play a musical instrument? Not anymore! What musical instruments can you play? Flute.. What are three adjectives which describe you? Funny, loyal, and confident! How would your friend describe you to someone who has never seen you? Crazy as hell, but there in a second if needed! In five years, what kind of person will you be? Hopefully alive! Just kidding.. I'd just like to stay true to who I am.. corny, I know.In ten years, what kind of person will you be? See above.. Several years ago this woman found a sick, malnourished lion cub in the jungle.
She took the cub home and fed him and brought him up until he was too big to keep anymore. Then she made arrangements with a zoo in Colombia to take the lion. Here's a video of what happened when she went to visit him in the zoo for the first time: The Lion Sees His "Mommy" For The First Time

Okay, sit down everyone because Rhoda is about to get serious. I've had such a miserable year.. I've lost 7 family members in death this year and then last week one of my best guy friends from high school was shot and killed. Alot of the deaths were older family members (2 aunts, 3 older cousins and a great aunt) but the one that broke my heart into a million pieces was my cousin, Travis. He was 25 and died in a car wreck in January after having just left one of his best friends funerals. Travis had cancer at the age of 4 and beat it. He was brave throughout his cancer ordeal and even after the cancer was in remission, he would go as a counselor to the kids cancer camp that he had attended. He became a paramedic to help others and was such an amazing person. My heart still aches because I know I'll never get to hear his laugh or see his smile again. When we were young, he would follow me around everywhere. It use to drive me crazy.. now I wish he were here to still do that.. I have to really pray about not being bitter and angry. It's hard to lose those you love. I mean, I'm realist enough to understand that we are born to die.. that when we come into this world and take our first breath, we'll someday take our last breath as well but it's just hard to accept.
Then last week, James, who I have known since middle school was shot and killed by his young son. I don't know all of the details but my heart aches for that poor kid and for James, who was one of the funniest people Ive ever met in my life. I don't know exactly why I'm sharing this but I have to say that watching David Cook and seeing him week after week has given me hope. His voice, his talent, his smile, his eyes, everything about him makes me feel like there is hope in this world.. I am not a depressed person.. I'm the one always smiling but this past year has tested me in ways that people shouldn't be tested and I like to think that having David Cook to cheer for and to watch and dream about has given me that smile back on my face. Life is short.. we don't know when or where or how but there will come a day our journey here will end and I'm so thankful that I got to witness David's rise to fame because I truly believe he is a shining star in this world.. Thanks for listening.
