For those of you who don't know my situation....
Last December I was supposed to graduate from nursing school but didn't pass by 6 points. After a lot of soul searching and encouragement, I am so happy to say, I passed this semester with a "B" and will be graduating on May 13th. You see, my mind last year wasn't exactly on school. As you can imagine, it was on David. I went to several AI concerts, met a wonderful new friend (KentuckyKat), saw some beautiful parts of the US and had the time of my life. Every spare minute, or even if it wasn't spare, I was on the computer watching/following the tour. I just couldn't get enough. Any tidbit or posting that was related to David, I had to read it. So as you can imagine, school just went to the wayside and wasn't my top priority. After going through the embarassment of failing and explaining to people that I had to re-take the semester, I was determined not to let it happen again. It was very difficult and I am sure I missed some awesome news or pictures of David somewhere along the way. But, you know what??? Life is still going on and now I am done. I still have to take the Arizona State Board test to get my license and of course, find a job. For today though, I am enjoying my success and wanted to share it with all of you who have been so supportive. Thank you for everything. I hope to be around a little more now that my life has slowed down some. Kathy

This is from the email message I received:
"Don't you wish you could double the money in your wallet right now? In a way, you can double your money – and help save more lives – by donating to the American Cancer Society as part of the Neutrogena Matching Gift Challenge. Right now, someone facing cancer needs help – and right now you can double the impact of your gift. Neutrogena, manufacturer of broad-spectrum sun protection products, has generously offered to match the support of our donors, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $100,000 – allowing donations to stretch twice as far to help more people!"

Want to send a copy of David's new cd to the soldiers fighting for our country this holiday season. Can you imagine receiving this as a gift???
I would like to send as many copies as possible of David's new CD to the troops overseas. My goal is to for the troops to receive them before Christmas so this will need to have a quick turnaround. I will purchase the CD's locally and send them to the troops. The cost for the CD is $10.00. For every CD you purchase, you will get your name and a short message added to the CD. To donate/purchase a CD: Go to PayPal, "Send Money" to donkatmatt@cox.net Make sure your name and message to the troops is included The cutoff date for this project will be December 6th. If you have any questions please PM me. Let's share this amazing new CD with our troops and give them something to look forward to when David visits!! Remember, this will also help boost David's rankings.

Announcing “Operation Give Back” David-Cook.org and David’s Cookie Jar have joined together to promote this awesome effort of volunteering for the greater good of others. To honor David, we are asking that each person pledge a certain number of hours they will volunteer doing something either locally in their community or with an organization of their choosing to help others in need. Our goal is to have 10,000 volunteer hours recorded by the time David’s Anniversary of winning American Idol is here in May 2009. If each member of this board pledges just one hour, we will exceed this total!! This is a great way to get your children involved in community service, work together doing something as a family or get a team of fans together and support a cause. Any efforts that have already been completed such as collecting Yoplait yogurt lids, walking to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, etc can count towards your total hours pledged. This is a great time of year to get involved. There are numerous ways to help others and we will post a list of organizations and other suggestions on how to help out in your community. Want to participate? Download the pledge form here, fill it in, and send it to giveback@David-Cook.org. Be sure to put Operation Give Back Pledge form in your subject line. Remember you can include hours previously completed in David's honor in your total of pledged hours as long as they started May 22, or later. Once you have completed your pledged hours of Community service, send us an email and let us know. Each person completing their hours will receive a “Certificate of Completion”. Thank you for your support in this effort. Let’s show David how awesome his fans are and that we are all about giving back and helping others. DOWNLOAD PLEDGE FORM

I have been calling my local station since Light On came out and tonight my hubby was getting ready to leave and came into the house and said why don't you leave the Light On? I am like what are you talking about. He said well, its on out in my truck. I jumped off the couch and ran outside. He said that's the fastest I've seen you run for anything.
The station, 96.9, was playing it as their "Mix Song of the Night". Listeners call in and vote on it. The DJ remembered seeing me on the local TV station from when I got my permanent tattoo tribute to David and said the feedback so far has been very positive. Can you say heart attack? It's so amazing to finally hear it on the radio!!! Kathy |
