NEXT PARTY: Sunday Nov 2 -- an after Saturday Night Live Rehash party!!! Starting 8PM CST. By then the YouTube vids will be up, and everyone will be home -- people at last Friday's party thought the timing would be good. Start early or come late if it works better for you. We posted a special party strand (in Multimedia Forum) AND we'll be in the D-C.org Live Chat room (click on Live Chat at the top of the D-C.org banner).

PARTY! Friday Oct 24, 8:00 CST: Theme AI Season 7, Bring your own trivia!
The party will be in During AI Forum: Click Here For Oct 24 Party Strand
_____________________________

As many of you know, Ozark Word Nerd and I hosted a party here at D-C.org about a week ago on the Friday evening DC was SUPPOSED to be on ET. The show didn't happen, but the party did! A good time was had by all -- we even had a simultatneous live chat like during cellcasts of the AI tour, thanks to another D-C.org member.

Now that things are quieter and until DC is on the road again, it seems like maybe some of us need a regular "meeting" time here in a party strand so we know where to find each other online. There are already some plans for an album release party -- no need to duplicate or compete with that. But we've got a month till then. Anyone interested in doing a regular party time?

Ozark Word Nerd and I can see several possible ways to go -- for example, someone could post a party strand for every Friday or alternate Fridays depending on interest, and a different 2 or 3 people could volunteer to "host" each week. Hosting just means being online to facilitate and encourage interaction and conversation development -- maybe finding a couple of goodies to share before the party starts to kick things off with.

(Note -- in no way is this an effort to undermine DCO -- but it's just not a usable interface for many of us when it comes to this kind of activity!! I say use the tool that works)
Well, what do you think? Any ideas? Any volunteers?

Bump! Assuming this isn't a sign that there ARE no more people out there who want to meet! Ha! You don't have to volunteer -- just let us know if you think a regular time and place (online strand here) is a good idea.

Well I don't normally get online on Tuesdays and Wednesdays because my mom is off, so I couldn't show up then. I don't get online till close to 8:00 PM or stay online past 11:00 PM EST. Hope that helps.

I just want to reiterate what NEMOCougar said about the online party that we cohosted a few Fridays ago. A good time was had by all that attended. For those of us on DC.org who miss the real-time updates from the barricades, Mavid watch parties, concert recaps, etc., this was a great way to get together and talk about all things David. We posted our favorite David videos and pictures and shared our cyber snacks and drinks. The live chat part was great because we could "chat" as we all watched the same video.

I'm sure there will be more exciting developments in DC land with the LO radio impact tomorrow, the upcoming LO video, etc. that would be great to discuss, as well as our DC favorites from his pre-Idol days and the Idol show and tour. Just let us know if you are interested, have any ideas, would be willing to cohost, and on what night and how often we should get together. We had so much the first time that I for one am more than willing to cohost again.

Finally, as NEMOCougar said this is in no way intended to undermine anything at DCO. That is a totally different type of forum whose current format is not conducive to having an online party.

I'm up for a parteee, especially when the "guest of honor" is David Cook. How will we work the time differences. I live in the mountain time zone (Utah). Let me know if I can help. I work at home (medical transcription), and am usually here at my computer, although I must say that since starting to participate at The Dash, my production and, unfortunately, income have taken a nosedive...oh, well, small price to pay for my daily Cookie Fix!!!!!

dizzy, I thought the live chat worked great as an addendum to the party strand here -- sort of like having a party in more than one room of your house. It gives people another place to go, hang out, then return. Our more immediate problem is choosing a time for the next party and figuring out how to get the word out. As you may have noticed, we've been buried here in "off topic" which does not bode well for party PR :-)

I wrote back to the mod who moved us -- she just couldn't figure out a good place. If we have a better suggestion, she'd be up for it perhaps, but I think it's a tough call -- where do you ALWAYS check when you come to this site. Personally, I've NEVER looked at Off Topic before!!

Should we be thinking about a meeting this weekend to talk about the radio interviews from today, Light On, etc??

Must say I was more than a little surprised to login to DC.org tonight and find that the party thread had been moved to Off Topic. I only occassionally look there, like the time that Scott and others who attended a Too Have Heroes performance posted their recaps and pictures. I understand the whole organizational concept, but I really don't get why a thread on having online parties to discuss all things David Cook related is Off Topic versus All About David Cook. Hopefully the moderator who moved the thread will reconsider and move it back to All About David Cook. Otherwise I do think the party idea is DOA.

Hi, just wanted to say that the party was lots of fun, and I especially enjoyed the live chat while watching videos. I'm up for another one! We only got as far as Billie Jean in replaying the whole AI season, we need to finish LOL!!!!

I think that a lot of people here just either "view new posts" or once they do hear about a thread like this will subscribe to it, so if we keep it bumped it probably won't get too buried even in the off-topic forum.

I think the videos worked better on live chat than on the thread, because there were times it felt like the conversation got two or three pages ahead of you while you were viewing the video, which didn't happen at all on the live chat (loved hearing dizzy commenting on stuff we were typing!) Maybe some "party games" might work also -- everyone list favorite this that or the other thing -- everyone quote one line of Simon or Paula - or David! -- stuff like that. Or like you said, maybe discuss the latest radio interviews. But the videos on the thread were great too because we weren't limited to the chat-host's library (she couldn't do you-tube on the chat sad.gif )

And of course we need more bean dip recipes smile.gif!!!!!

Just chiming to say I had a blast at our last little chat party - it was fun to watch the vids together and comment on them. Dizzy even took requests!

Glad to see that folks are still finding this now buried thread. Maybe more people check out the Off Topic Discussion subforum than NEMO or I thought. I also liked the videos/live chat, although it was great to go back to the party thread after the fact and check out all the videos that were posted. Also like your idea to have party games. A bit of David trivia with a glass of your favorite beverage and some of your favorite friends always makes for a pleasant evening.

It sounds like several of us are ready to try this again. I won't be around this weekend and so couldn't attend the party, which is a real drag. In fact I may be experiencing some serious David withdrawal by the end of the weekend because I'm not sure I will even have access to the internet for the next few days. sad.gif I'm off to the hinterlands of northwest Arkansas for a few days of R&R in Eureka Springs, which is one of the largest artist colonies in the US.
