Hi Everyone.
Do I have any Oregon Word Nerds in the house? If so, I hope you will consider joining the second annual "David-Cook.org's Word Nerds United2Fight Cancer" Relay For Life team, for the Tigard/Tualatin Relay For Life event on June 13, 2009. If you would like to join our team, visit the link below: Relay For Life of Tigard Once you get to the page, click on the link at the top left-hand side that says "sign up." From there, you will need to choose "join an existing team." Again, our team is called "David-Cook.org's Word Nerds United2Fight Cancer." Once you have signed up for the team, you can go to your participant center and create your own participant page! You can upload pictures, write about your experience, and why you are joining a Relay team. There are also fundraising tools, including an e-mail that you can send out to your family and friends. Last year, we had a small team, but we had a great time! This is such a great way to connect with other David Cook fans in your area, and meet all those people you've been talking to on-line all this time! Even if you only raise $20, or can only walk for 20 minutes, please join! All levels of participation are welcome. One guideline: Although I'd love for you to be able to post your pictures right in the thread, please only post a link, and host the pictures off-site somewhere, like Photobucket, since too many pictures loaded on David-Cook.org makes the site slow. Now, inspire us!

Have some super-creative fundraising ideas to share with your fellow Word Nerds? Or are you in need of a little inspiration? Either way, this is the place for you! Share ideas, interesting articles, past successes...or failures (we can all learn from mistakes), or ask for help.
I'll start by posting a funny article I found while researching the concert venue at Ole Miss. 2009 marks Relay for Life's 25th anniversary! What better way to celebrate David and his 1st solo tour, than to organize a Relay team, and support a cause that is near and dear to David's heart.
Over the next few days, I will be posting Relay For Life events occuring in or within 20 miles of the cities where David is stopping on his tour. Listings will include links to the Relay event pages, where you can register your own team, sign up to join an existing team, or make a donation to a team. Although the Relay events won't necessarily coincide with David's tour dates, fans can still organize a team for the nearest Relay events, or stage a "Show Us Your HOPE" event to promote Relay for Life while David is in town. Even if your tour stop has already passed, it's not too late! Go ahead and get involved! What is "Show Us Your HOPE" you ask? Here is a passage from RelayForLife.org describing the purpose of this campaign: QUOTE "As we mark this milestone (25th Anniversary), be sure to celebrate the role Relay For Life volunteers have played in the fight against cancer. Show Us Your HOPE is about demonstrating your passion and resolve to end this disease. Just a simple activity that captures the essence of the Relay For Life spirit will make a powerful statement about our commitment to end cancer." All participation, no matter how small, is relevant and significant. Don't be afraid to give whatever time you have, even if you think it couldn't possibly make a difference, because IT WILL! Here are a few suggestions for Show Us Your HOPE events:
