July 1st, my concert review, plus pics!

The concert was fantastic!! It was highly entertaining and well worth the investment. That's my overall impression.

The nuts and bolts - The concert started about 25 mins late. The first 6 perform, then there is an intermission, that was way to long, about 40 mins.......then the Top 4 do their thing.

Chikeze - good, great personality, moves around on stage well, huge smile


Ramiele - very weak, needs a lot of work


Michael Johns - BLEW.ME.AWAY! He is out of this world fantastic!




Kristy Lee Cook - I didn't expect to like her, but I did. Her songs are terrific, she moves around the stage very well, she was very good.


Carly - WOW! She is a rocker, and it shows. Huge voice, amazing stage presence!


Brooke - Entertaining. She is all sunshine and light. None of her pics turned out. Boo!

Jason - He engaged the crowd, personable, having a great time. His music is not my style, but he was very good!


Syesha - Good. Her style is not for me. Personally, I don't know how she made it above MJ and Carly.


Archie - Very good, his voice is huge. He does what we saw on the show, he stands and belts ballads. Very nice kid, very sweet personality, very appreciative!


David Cook - Incredible!!! It was so good to finally see him after voting hours on end. DH and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Hero, that was incredible as was Billie Jean. I think opening with "Hello" was a mis-step. He needs to open with a huge rocking song.
He did say Adam's tumor had stopped growing and he learned that news today. He got a tad emotional. He said he does not even know how to thank us, the fans anymore, he is so grateful. What a guy! I can't wait for his CD!

We know DC had around 10K people at the High School stadium. How many people showed up at the Power & Light mini concert earlier?

Does anyone know the estimated raw numbers for Archies and Syesha's homecomings?

Recruit Jason and Syesha fans

David Archuleta and his Arch Angels are a formidible force.

For David Cook to win, we need our fanbase to grow and for that new fan base to actively vote for David. Please recruit Jason and Syesha fans over to our side. It shouldn't be hard.

There is a poll on another board, I've not seen it for a while, but the question was, when your favorite gets voted off, who will you vote for. A large percentage were for David Cook, yay.

David Cook and Chris Daughtry

A question was posed on another thread about David and Chris. Since some of you may not have seen season 4, I thought I'd start a thread.

The question; Is the buzz about the same for David as it was for Chris. My response is below.

I think the buzz with Chris and David is very similar. Which is why many are very nervous for this week, Top 4. I am one who got complacent and split my votes between Elliot and Chris because I wanted to see Elliot outlast Katharine. The next night Chris was eliminated. That is an awful pain when you see the presumptive Idol get whisked away and he's not on your TV for the next 3 Tuesdays, very sad time. There were petitions trying to bring him back, it was wild. The controversy helped Chris tremendously. He was all over the news, he was everywhere in the press because it was perceived as such a shocker, it was huge.

Their similarities; They are both talented songwriters, working with local bands for years. They can both interpret and arrange music to suit their styles. They are wildly confident on stage with great charisma and charm. They are both very likeable, nice guys.

There are differences which makes David's fanbase much broader though.

-David is single. David being single is a huge added dimension to his appeal. That one fact alone has brought in thousands of new fans.

-David, imo, has a better, richer voice. Chris can do rocker, but David can do rocker, and Broadway with his stunning rendition of MOTN. I don't think Chris could have pulled that off so competently.

-David has a goofy charm, that he is not afraid to show, while Chris is more serious, that was a complaint often directed at Chris.

-David shows more heart, he is more emotional, another appealing quality that draws fans closer.

-David can sing and play his guitar on stage, while in Chris' season, they did not allow contestants to play instruments. David with his guitar is huge advantage.

They are both great, but I think David's got the edge!

eta: I obviouisly need a thesaurus as the word "appealing" is overused. Oh well.
