i always loved watching david in the group numbers. all of them. no matter how cheesy or bad, he always looked like he was having a blast.(theater training?). unlike say amanda overmeyer who looked like she was in hell. she looked so unhappy especially during the finale. i know it must have been awful, but she signed up for it. ANNNNNNNNNYWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY,

do you have a favorite group performance? (they all run together with me, unfortunately). except shout to the lord. and the hip dance one!

what other observations about the groups do yall have?

Poor David always hated those group numbers...haha. My favorite was definitely shout to the lord. For some reason I also liked the neil diamond medley.

Does anyone remember if they did a group performance for the top 16? Because I can't remember, and I can't find it on youtube anywhere.

I happened to re-watch an interview today where DC stated how he hated the group numbers but he always looked like he was having fun. He really did give them what they expected and I thought his dancing was fine.

It was fun to see him do his part and his voice always sounded so much better than the others. Expecially liked Shout To The Lord and the George Michaels one.

I liked Ain't no Stopping Us Now on the Top 3. David seemed to be having a lot of fun. Also I liked the Neil Diamond week group number, and Hero with David Archuleta @ the finals was my favorite.

Thanks lindar for referencing the George Michael group number. My Tivo didn't recort the finale and I was lucky to watch the last 20 minutes and see the results. This song doesn't show up "AI7 group performance" but here is the link for anyone who wants to see it.

THANK YOU!

That was fantastic! I got goosebumps when he sang 'until the end of time', but I was also reliving 'every little hungry schoolgirl's pride and joy', and the HUGE scream which went up! And then he turns and struts away from the camera! Fantastic! (At about 3.05)

I love the group performances from this year! Probably one of the reasons why I wanted see them on tour (but sadly I could not). Anyway, I love the two Beatles melodies (minus Amanda). Shout to the Lord is hauntingly beautiful (Carly and David were the BEST). I also really enjoyed One Sweet Day from Mariah Carey week - I thought the harmonizing and overall sound was excellent. Please Don't Stop the Music is also a favorite of mine and somehow really SEXY. The Hero duet was Fantastic. I just wish there could have been more duets with the other contestants (like during the finale with Carly and Michael). On YouTube I still watch the group performances because they are so good.

It really surprises me that David hated doing the group numbers. It certainly never showed on his face. When did he say that about the group numbers?

My favorite.. Shout to the Lord..hands down. David was totally awesome. I am getting goosebumps this typing about it. Carly was also wonderful. """going to YouTube to watch again"

I'm back (40 minutes later). I had to watch several of them.

I also really liked George Micheal top 12 finale and the Mariah Carey.

"Shout to the Lord," IGB night (both nights). David's voice. That pretty much sums it up. His long solo (the longest of all 8 idols) made my arm and neck hairs stand straight up. Carly was pretty awesome too. I wasn't too fond of most of the group performances except this one. STTL might have been cheesier than pizza, but when I watch it now I see that performance as a foreshadowing of David's win, down to the confetti and credits rolling at the end. Chills.

This isn't really a group performance, but I also loved the duet of "Hero" he did with Archie on finale night. I love watching how he interacts with Archie on the stage while they sing.
