Hi everyone - have not posted for a very long time but have been keeping up on the David Cook news. So excited to see him again on AI. I do hope he sings U and I. Love that song. Watched every single video he has performed over and over again and there is nobody and I mean NOBODY who can touch him in all the seasons. He has the magical ability of being able to touch people´s soul with his music. Have not joined any other fan club or been involved since David won.

So excited to have him back and soon to be able to buy his music. Hopefully in South Africa I will still be able to buy it beforehand.

I am hoping he will sing that too; however you never know. David said it was one of his favorites songs he has worked on for the new album but I don't know if it made the cut to actually be on the album and all. Who knows if he's allowed to do it though. Failing that, maybe he can do Heroes as that was recently featured on NBC / Olypmics. It would be smart if he sang U & I to get everyone thinking & geared up for his next album & help with pre-orders but he might get stuck with doing something from DCTR. I wish he would twitter it but no....

I think someone said this already, but if he plays U and I, people might want to buy it but can't. I think he'd be better off playing Heroes or something else on DCTR because it's available for purchase. Though I'd love to hear U and I with such good audio.

My hope -- which was unabashedly poo-poohed on another board -- was that maybe David gets to do the boot song, starting with the Top 12 going forward. Yes, I know there was a Will Young (first winner of the UK's "Pop Idol") song used the last few weeks (which I could not for the life of me tell you what it sounds like), but the other board of "experts" says no, that's it, Will Young's boot song is it for the rest of the season, written in stone, cannot possibly be changed.

But I'm trying to figure out why else David would be performing this week, not that it's not a nice surprise. He doesn't have a current single or album to be promoting. It would be kind of odd to do "You and I" since it's not actually been recorded and people can't buy it ("Here's a new song off an album that hasn't been recorded yet, so you can't buy it now, but it should be out sometime later this year...") He could do something off of DCTR (Lie/Declaration/Heroes) but wouldn't that confuse people into thinking it's a new single? But it could spur some additional DCTR sales, which is always good, like the spike after the CU appearance. But as lovely as Lie is, if he were to do something off DCTR I hope it's BBS or KOTN -- something upbeat. Too many casual viewers who haven't followed David like we have, who haven't been to the Declaration Tour shows and who've only heard CBTM on the radio or saw Lie on the Carrie special don't know that David ROCKS!

To that end, it's possible that David and the band could do a Rolling Stones song in honor of the theme this week (Jumpin' Jack Flash? ) But would that give the general public the erroneous notion that David has no original material and that he only does covers, like he did when he was on Idol?

In the meantime, though, I've always thought ADAM would make the perfect elimination song, and would be like when they used Daughtry's "Home" as the boot song. ADAM is a positive and uplifting song and would show that the journey of the person getting voted off isn't ending, just going off in another direction, better than any of the "too bad you're going home" songs they've had in years past. Or like Carrie and Ruben, they could have had David record some kind of cover song (how many more "going home" songs are there out there?)

Just seems to me that using a successful AI winner's song for the boot song is a better choice than some Pop Idol winner most people in the U.S. have never heard of before.

Either way, it'll be great to see David and the guys on TV. I'm sure Ryan will ask him about the songwriting he's been doing and what the upcoming album is going to sound like, so that will be good promotion.

PS- Has anyone else heard that RYAN STAR (David's friend - who opened up for him on the declaration tour) song BREATHE is going to be played when the top 12 get eleminated each week? I know I read that somewhere and now I can't find it. Maybe on Ryan's website....I have to check n get back --That would be awesome that song is beautiful
