He has never come out after a casino show, just FYI. He's always gambling afterwards and there is no "barricade" at the buses. But at least you have a good attitude about enjoying the show. Yes, he got his Black Jack in before the show the other night. Apparently he and Monty were pretty successful. I only went to one of his concerts & I was fortunate to meet him. I have never ever been that lucky before to any other concert I've ever attended. I don't expect to see any of the performers. I don't actually look or seek the performer out. I got lucky this time & it was only because my daughter insisted we go out in back to where his bus is. As it is I felt like I was imposing when I asked for his autograph & just couldn't ask for a hug (but my daughter did). I just missed him at the same restaurant & even if he was there, I could never approach him & disturb his privacy. The waiters said he was the nicest guy - didn't act like a big star & when women approached him at the bar, he was very nice as usual. I think he won a few more fans at that restaurant from the wait staff. The two male waiters I talked to, thought he was fantastic (well he did give the guy at the bar $100 tip). They did mention that he didn't act like a big star or anything - just a normal guy. I know that David is just a normal guy. Yes, he won A.I. but he appears to be what he is before he even got snagged into auditioning & winning. Everything about David screams "nice down-to-earth" guy. Everyone who meets him says what a nice guy he is & such a gentleman & very polite. He can't please everyone though. Sometimes he's dammed if he does or doesn't. He prides himself of being accessible to his fans & he is but when some fans went over the top, he though Facebook asked that they respect his & his band's privacy & all hell broke lose didn't it. I do know this. David Cook loves his fans. I remember the blog he posted right after winning American Idol, where he basically said that he's not going to say thanks because that's so trite. Then he says thanks & had tears in his eyes. Now Adam Lambert quoted in a magazine that he doesn't owe his fans anything, that he got to where he is today because he did it, not his fans. Yes, his fans voted for him but it was really was his talent that did it. No backlash for that statement at all. From all accounts, he is shaping up to be a real diva if he isn't already. There was also comments from the A.I. Tour workers that Adam was a royal pain in the *ss. He acted like he was the show. I can't imagine that David Cook ever would act like a diva. He is the same guy he always was & we know he supports his opening acts & it's even said that he helps them unload their equipment. Can you imagine Adam Lambert doing that? Heck, he might ruin his nails. Apparently, it was reported that some stage hand or whatever grabbed his hand & shook it & he went balistic because his nails were still wet & he yelled at the guy because now he had to fix them. I know that we are beating this dead horse but this site is all about David Cook & it pops up if you Google it. I can't stress enough that though some people might get disappointed when they don't get to meet him after a concert, that everything you type on the internet can be googled because "google" indexes all the contents, not just meta tags hidden in an html file. I agree that I wouldn't want to interrupt his meal. He deserves to have a peaceful meal just like we all do. I try to think about how I would feel. That golden rule of treating others as you wish to be treated works pretty well when considering all of this. If he wants to have a session after a show where he talks to people, that is great and that is his choice. It is always greatly appreciated but it isn't a requirement. I agree about not wanting to ask for a hug. I'm not one to ask. If he wants to give me a hug, then great. If not, a handshake is also a nice greeting. It is his call. Like you, I have encountered employees at restaurants after he has been there and I have never heard a bad report as to his behavior towards them. They are always impressed at how friendly he is. That is a trait that will take him far, for sure. I'm glad he is striving to maintain being a regular person. After all, he is a regular person. I think that we should just treat him as such. I am at a loss at some of the over the top behavior I have witnessed concerning him. I guess I will never understand it. If Adam Lambert, indeed, made comments like you stated (I don't know because I really haven't paid any attention to him as I'm not all that enraptured in his style of music), then it is a shame. However, that is the mentality of many performers. I guess it is wise to remember that the people you ran over on the way to the top may very well be people you have to encounter when you come back down. That being said, you can bet that many untrue stories will be made up by some media sources and that we can't always take everything we hear as the gospel truth. Time will tell, I guess. Lastly, I agree with you regarding taking into consideration what we say at this forum and always keeping in mind that people do find this place when googling. I try my best to post knowing anyone may read it. Jeannine |

I totally agree =) I dont want to turn this into a Glambert thing but he is becoming to live an ill fame...if he starts to treat his fans like c*** hes not gunna get very far and ppl rnt gunna wanna work for him or even be in his band! if the world revolves around him no one else is gunna wanna share that. I think Davids band will be around for a very long time, there like family and he treats them well, and his fans dont just love him for his music, they love his personality :] I didnt get to meet David at the AI concert, while some of my friends did.. I gotta admit that I was a teeny dissapointed but I totally understood!

I think one of the things that will get him very far in the music business is that he'll never make any enemies or burn his bridges. He's smart & he's very diplomatic. Look how he treated Archie when he won for one thing. He more or less shared his win with Archie and in fact all the contestants. He never said one thing contrary about any of them and said often & often that there were a whole lot more talented than he was (which we know is not true because David Cook blew everyone away). He helped to difuse the Archangels at every opportunity always talking about Archie & even saying to go buy his record. Some of those Archie fans were so rabid.
At the end of this season, when asked who he liked (Adam or Kris), he again said you can't go wrong with either one of them. He was smart because if he had said anything against either one of them or said who he thought was better, Lord help us all. Everyone he meets, he conducts himself with charm & humility and that will get him far. He's a man's man and so even men like him. He isn't a diva, he's a regular old guy & that comes through every time. It's very hard not to like David Cook. His sensitivity wins people over every time. You just want to hug the guy. I remember that Blake Lewis started slamming him for not giving Depeche Mode credit for Eleanor Rigby & when Blake met with David, David told him that he did give credit during one of those clips they do prior to performing & that part landed up on the cutting room floor. The same thing happened to a Daughtry contraversy during his season. I felt bad for David because he had to publicly acknowledge where he got his inspiration from, prior to performing Little Sparrow when we know that it was the producers fault that those clips got cut. He is still battling the Billie Jean thing still today with everyone still commenting about stealing Cornell's version when it was the judges fault for praising him for his originality, which I still feel was that David way improved Cornell's slowed up version of Billie Jean, so it really was another cover of MJ's Billie Jean. In any case after the Eleanor Rigby thing all of a sudden Blake then sported David's name on his kuckles during the finale & flashed them in front of the camera when they zoomed in on Blake. I remember Blake got a lot of flack for dissing Sanjaya & so he got nailed for that--even though we all felt Sanjaya was a total waste of time, only getting so far because of the tweens. Jordin Sparks, who clearly preferred David Cook, still would say they were both winners so she's careful. The golden rule is really treat others as you would have them treat you. It's my philosphy & there are no truer words spoken & David clearly follows that rule. |
