I hear that they're playing it on the radio in KC, but I never listen to the radio so I don't know if they're playing it here in Chicago.

OMG I'm still shaking.

I was sitting in my car having lunch today and listening to WSTW in Delaware, I think they're out of Wilmington. Anyway, they have this lunch hour request line, so I decided to dial. I got through on the first try and asked if they were playing Light On. (I hardly ever listen to the radio anymore, or this station) The DJ told me there has been a lot of interest in the song, and they have some competition at 8:00 where they put two songs up together for votes. Last night at 8, DAVID WON!!!

After playing another song, not only did they play Light On, but he put me on the radio too!!

I have to say I haven't called a radio station since I was a teenager. I couldn't believe it. I was so excited.

David, what are you doing to me???

So if there's anyone in the WSTW listening area tonight, tune in to vote for Light On to retain the title. I don't know if it starts at 8 or ends at 8, so I'll be checking in early.

I was out doing errands at lunch time and I called WPLJ here in NYC during their Request Lunch Hour. I got through and spoke to the one guy who took my name and cell phone number. I asked if anyone had requested David Cook - Light On. He said not yet; I waited until the end of the lunch hour, but it did not make on within the hour.

Hopefully I will hear it on the way home tonight. I emailed the DJ that does the 3-7P hours.

WSTW's website has a "Listen Now" link. I checked out their playlist and it has TOML at #8. It also shows that they played Light On at 12:30 pm today (probably your request!), surprisingly followed by Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. laugh.gif

The 2-song throwdown info is HERE. Starts at 8:00 pm EDT. Last night LO was the challenger to the previous champion "Gives You Hell" by All American Rejects and LO won. It doesn't say who the challenger tonight will be.

Yep, that was me. He also said he had received a couple emails.
I had to laugh at Billy Jean coming up afterward. LOL That's when I turned it off. I heard what I wanted to hear. biggrin.gif

I sent in a request to my local Hits FM station. We have such sucky radio stations in my area. Wait and see I suppose.

Not yet - but not for lack of trying - LOL! I reset my car buttons to all the likely local stations (I never listen to local radio) and tried them all this morning. And I surfed all the likely XM stations too. I'll have to get busy and request the song! Need it on the radio!

Wow! Got a reply from my local station DJ already.

Hi Renee-

Got your request. Thanks!

"java"

No confirmation that he would play it though. Do they ever tell you that they will play it? Never did that before. His show just started so I will keep an ear out. I'm really excited to see if he will play it.

ETA: I guess it's encouraging that his reply back wasn't "who?" lol

I'm streaming 93.3 out of KC so I could hear it.

I emailed the station that plays TOML but haven't heard anything back and it took 3 weeks for TOML to get airplay here after it came out.

I think I just missed it this morning on an Omaha top 40 station. (94.1 for any Omaha listeners) I was flipping through stations after I dropped my teenage daughter off at school. After I got home I checked the yes.com site and found out they played it right off the song she was listening to on the way to school. I should have left it there - Rats! I didn't think it would be there because they haven't been playing TOML, it's been on the AC station. So, still listening....

According to yes.com, my local modern/active rock station (WWDC/DC 101 in Wash. DC) played it this morning. However, it was played during the morning show, and their morning show is so obnoxious, I can imagine them playing a snippet of it just to ridicule it (Hell they also apparently played Clay Aiken's "Invisible" this morning)

I've never heard any Idol alumni on this station, so I'm skeptical that they actually intend to put it in rotation. If they play it again, I'll definitely start requesting it.

I hope David is on Ryan's show or Z100 sometime in the next week or two to give the song a big radio premiere and help out with those audience impressions. Monitoring yes.com today is a little discouraging - those deejays are clinging to TOML. Of course, if they just got the song last night, I guess they haven't had time to fit it into their programming schedules yet.

Erica, I can't seem to get yes.com to show up my local stations for me. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

I didn't do anything fancy with yes.com. I just set it to the David Cook channel and recognized the call letters for one of my local stations. mellow.gif

Annette, I think Race is the one I must've heard on my way home last night on PLJ who mentioned Cookie. I e-mailed requests in last night to Z100, WPLJ, 104.3, and 102.7.

Erica, I can't seem to get yes.com to show up my local stations for me. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong blink.gif

Great job Annette
I got the following response from XLO a Boston station after emailing just this morning.

Hi Cathryn!
I believe we just got the single, and am told we're not spinning it yet...should be soon. Thanks for listening!

They sound a bit vague, but I'm hoping that they will notice it now and play it.

I have been playing Light On at all times that I have been home today. Just keeps getting better, my daughter really loves it too!

Wow Kyrie, this is so exciting!!!

I listen to WSTW in the morning and during my commute (mostly for traffic watch) and emailed them and another Delaware station this morning with my Light On request. Wasn't listening at lunch time, but you can bet I will be tuned in and voting tonight at 8!

ETA: Just noticed that WSTW has the title as "Lights Out" rolleyes.gif
