David posted a new blog at Myspace...
Hey everyone, First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post. The vibe at these shows has been amazing. Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you. I hope this doesn't come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows we have coming up. Take care and see you at the next show. ~D I hope the stalkers get it now, since David himself told them to knock it off. It's so sad that David had to post that blog at all

This didn't come off as harsh. I'm sorry for him that its gotten to the point where he felt he needed to say something about it. It IS sad that this is something he had to address but this is the "ugly" side of the business. I'm not sure how effective this would be but for his sake, I hope it works. |

This is not harsh AT ALL. I certainly hope it helps because I know he wants to meet his fans and we want to meet him, but their safety comes first.
BTW - when was this posted by him???? |

hopefully those fans that r doing this quit it cuz its only going to hurts the rest of us in the end cuz david won't be able to see us and interact wiith us cus stalkers want to ruin stuff for the rest of us...hope they get it. STOP STALKING DAVID!

I'm really sorry it had to come to this. I'm glad he addressed it. Hope those involved get the message. As we should know by now, "stage Dave" is for us, "private Dave" is none of our business.

I figured with all the reports of fans stalking his hotel at certain stop that David's patience would run out and apparently it now has. I don't blame him at all. I've seen too many posts of fans think that think that what they are doing is innocent but in reality it's invading his personal space. The best thing for anyone to do is if you find out where he is staying is to just not go over there or if you just happen to be staying at the same place as he and the band to just keep your distance. It sounds like he has gone out of his way to be polite at all times but in cases like this it is a can be a good example of just how easily stalking can get out of hand.

Unfortunately, the people who find it acceptable to stalk them at hotels etc aren't likely to take any notice - sadly. I can never get my head round the mentality involved in this sort of behaviour. I remember a post during the Idol tour where someone who went to their hotel after a show and was miffed because David (and the others) wouldn't stop to chat etc. They just got annoyed when several FMs, including myself, pointed out how wrong their behaviour was, and wouldn't admit they were doing anything wrong.
It's sad for David he's had to do this, and as he has done this things must be getting pretty bad, but it does come with the territory unfortunately |

I am glad that he posted a blog about this because all the things I have been hearing are just disturbing. People just have no idea where that line is. Now they have probably ruined it for all of us for a long time to come. Sadly I know freaky people who do this sort of thing come with the territory of being a *celeb*. I am just saddened that someone like David who WANTED to connect with fans as much as possible has now had to take a step back and realize that his kindness towards fans has backfired.
It's just really sad. And anyone who is offended by this post (which was far from harsh) are probably the type of people who do feel he owes them some sort of personal attention. Why can't people just act normal? |

This really ticks me off. WTH is wrong with people? How thoughtless to disturb these guys in their hotel rooms! There is nothing worse than someone bothering you when you are trying to rest! I hope that the people who did this read David's message and dial it back. I'm afraid that if a person is so thoughtless to have done this in the first place, they are also the types that won't heed the message either.

I am glad that David himself has addressed the subject but I also agree that the "fans" causing the problem will not understand the message is directed at them. They do NOT understand that their behavior is wrong and disturbing.
I hate this for fans who have not been able to attend shows yet, like myself and some of my friends from this board. The actions of others have/will ruin the experience for his respectful fans and this saddens me. David has been more than willing to interact with the fans and he has been taken advantage of in many situations. I give props to the many stories I have read from fellow fans who have seen him out and let him have his space. YOU GUYS are the TRUE fans!To those of you who this message is directed at, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take his blog to heart for the sake of David and other fans. You are showing David enough support by buying his music and being at the shows... |

It is sad that David felt a need to post this blog. I hope the people he is referring to read it, understand it, and behave in a more appropriate manner in the future. I know that David and I think, the band also enjoy meeting the fans and talking to them about the music; they would like to continue to do that when they can. They go above and beyond to put on a great show, which is there job. Everyone needs to respect David's and the band's privacy. If they choose to have an impromptu meet and greet, great, if not, please don't get mad at them or act crazy. Their schedule is busy and must be tiring, everyone needs a break now and then. Please be thankful for the amazing shows you get to see in person, via video, or hear via cellcast!
I also think it is important for fans not to start fan wars over David's blog. We don't know all the details behind his post or what fans, did the things he mentions. Please don't be judgmental, make assumptions, and start accusing individuals of doing something wrong. Please let David, his security, and management deal with these things. It is none of our business! We should worry about ourselves, and just make sure we behave with integrity and respect not only towards David, the band, but also fellow fans. |

It was totally thoughtless for people to disturb these guys in their hotel rooms. But, we don't know who did this. I have seen some posts on DCO where people are saying, "I think we all know who did this", but how do they know? Apparently Joey saw some of the angst going on in Tweets and asked everyone to get along. Gotta love Joey! He said there's no reason to hate on each other and to spread some love around!  |
