Tonight's show was probably the worst I have ever listened to. They need to reevaluate their music arrangements, song choices and performances. Horrible except for Scotty and, perhaps, Casey. Those professionals who are mentoring those people should be fired.

Still not a fan of the musical arrangements being provided on the show. I'm sorry our mentor never seems to go away and I have decided the judges' feedback is pretty useless. I'm finding myself missing Simon quite a bit.

I was holding my breath for Scotty's attempt at Motown. I was pleasantly surprised. Motown gone Country, LOL. All in all, I wasn't blown away by the night, although it was certainly better than the week before.

This week's results is so very important as they determine the touring group, which means they make more money. I didn't vote, however. I do feel sorry for the one person who gets the boot this week. So close and yet not close enough.

What on heck was that tonight?????? Casey, really??? I was pretty upset but then realized that of course they were going to save him if he were to be the one to go. I even thought they would've saved Stefano if the situation were reversed. I felt bad for Casey when they stopped him from singing, the poor guy looked like he was going to pass out lol. I'm definitely going to start to vote cause that just can't happen again.

That just proves that people don't know anything.

I couldn't agree with you more Jeannine about the judges useless feedback. How are you supposed to better yourself if you don't get the criticism you need. Simon was right all the time, imo. He really should've done another season then call it quits.

The local news here always does a recap and they bring in these 2 voice lesson coaches to get their opinion. One of them said that they hated Stefano's version of Hello and someone else mentioned David's version and the same person who said they hated Stafano's said he did a way better job than David......... huh.gif. Those 2 vocal coaches ears apparently don't work cause that was one of the best performances to come from idol. I don't know why I even bother to watch them cause I get all hot and bothered.

I agree that, as unfiltered and politically incorrect as Simon was, he usually gave critiques that were pretty spot on. I found myself agreeing with him a lot of the time. I was thinking about the critiques this year's judges are now giving and I found myself remembering the AI show that had kids as contestants. I found that show so boring because the judges just couldn't bring themselves to give honest critiques for fear the kids would get their feelings hurt. Some of them absolutely stunk and yet they always seemed to get glowing critiques. You get an entire season of that and you either tune out the judges or stop watching the show. I agree that a lot of the critiques this season are not giving any kind of helpful feedback to the contestants. I really miss Simon at this point.

I was in shock at the mere thought that Casey would be at the very bottom any week. That kid is so very talented. It worries me that people are voting based upon looks more than musical talent. I realize that Casey's voice, which I actually enjoy, isn't everyone's cup of tea.....but to have him be at the bottom when other mediocre performers are put through? Nope, Casey isn't "purdy" (he probably could stand a haircut and shave), but the kid can certainly tear up the stage in a way that is much more accomplished than most of the other contestants. I'm glad he was saved, however I hated to see him have to go through that when he is so frickin' talented. It should never have happened. Get out your string bass, my man, and remind us all why you are there. IMO, he needs to be in the top 3. I know that I'll be voting for him the entire time each week from now on.

Not a Casey fan at all. I liked him in Hollywood week but since then he has been nothing but a novelty act. I want to see him do some real singing and not a screeching growling face animated show. I was expecting him to be in the bottom three and not surprised at all he had the lowest votes. After all this is a singing contest not an actor doing a singing bit. When he did that awful smells like teen spirit all it reminded me of was Adam Sandler doing it on SNL. He needs to tone down his antics and weird facial expressions and growling and get back to real singing. If he does then he will go a lot farther in the competition. JMO

Looks like we skipped a week over here.

So what's everyone's take this week? I thought it was pretty decent tonight. I really liked Paul tonight so I had to vote for him along with Casey and Lauren. Up until now you were pretty much able to guess who was going to be in the bottom 3. No idea now.

I am so disillusioned in the judges. I really thought that Tyler would stand up and give those poor kids some meaningful feedback this season (with a dose of snark along with it). Instead, he, JLo and Randy are absolutely useless. If I wanted nothing but compliments, I could go back to that kid idol they had several years ago. I think that the contestants are getting to the point where they don't know which end is up. The judges are no help at all. I even went so far as to tweet Nigel with my complaint and, believe me, I am not one who likes to do that, LOL.

I agree that Paul did a good job last night. IMO, his was probably the best performance. Scotty did a great job and I am now thinking he will win the entire thing and well deserved. I liked Casey (string bass FTW!), however, I think that he has gotten so much confusing feedback from the judges, he acts like he has lost some of that self confidence I loved about him. Really, he is what he is. His best genre seems to be jazz. If they didn't want that on the show, they should never have let him through into the top tier. They should have said at auditions, "Dude, you are brilliant, but we need a pop singer." I think it is totally unfair to Casey and hope he can get back some of that moxie I love about him. He truly is very musical. But...then again...he is a 19 year old kid.

I'm just not happy with how this season is turning out. Someone I know mentioned last night that the poor contestants are now becoming caricatures of themselves. I blame the useless feedback from the judges for this. I miss Simon something awful and am now hoping this season is the final season. This is extremely frustrating for me.

Not surprised at the results. I don't think that a woman can win this thing anymore. And the judges didn't help the situation. They need to grow a backbone and give critiques that mean something.

You always seem to be thinking the exact same thing as I do Jeannine. I really couldn't agree anymore. Your right about Casey, he has lost what was exciting about him and I miss that. I'm still going to vote for him though cause he really is great. He's even better when he brings out the bass.

That was my bottom 3 I wanted but had no idea it was going to be what actually happened. Pia bored me and I didn't like last nights song at all. She did sing good but I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea.

I've been thinking Scotty is going to win for some time now. Even if he went home now he wouldn't have to worry at all cause he's going to be just fine.

Lol@ you tweeting Nigel. I don't know if you follow Chris Daughtry or not but he even mentioned the same thing about the judges. It's at the point where you don't even care what they have to say anymore cause they love everything and everything is beautiful to Mr. Tyler.

I realize that a lot of women really liked that guy, however, his singing was pretty weak and his stage antics even weaker. Not even going to venture into the subject of his choice of clothes on stage. I'm sure he will do fine on the tour. Hope he enjoys a good career.

Poor Stefano....he has been in the bottom 3 so many times. Wonder if he is getting a complex? He probably feels like heading straight to the stool on results night.

I was pretty bummed about Paul leaving, I really liked him. He looked like the only one who was having a great time up there. He was fun and I did enjoy his voice.

Unfortunately, Paul seemed to me like someone imitating Rod Stewart and nobody can come close to Rockin' Rod. Wonder if he will have the same sounding voice when he finally gets rid of those throat nodules. I'm hoping it will help his ability to stay on pitch.

I'm at a loss as to why Jacob is still hanging on. He butchered Bridge Over Troubled Water the other night, IMO. Such a wonderful song. It broke my heart hearing what he did to it.

Right now, the best thing about Idol is that David Cook is going to be on tomorrow night biggrin.gif Can't wait to see him come home to the Idol stage smile.gif...show them how it's really done wink.gif

I do have to agree with some of you that the judges just seem to be handing out more compliments than constructive criticism. However, the contestants (ones still left and voted off) this season all have talent and have different voices. I feel this season has/had a wide margin of talent. Now, I'm not saying I enjoy all of them, but they are all talented in their own way. Either way, it's going to be a guy that wins...unless Lauren or Hailey can put it all out there and beat all the guys.

I liked Paul...he was a bit quirky. His outfits were another story. I was pretty bummed to see Pia go. Oh well. I don't really have a favorite this season. I guess I really don't care who wins at this point.

I read a blog/article somewhere that said that the judges can't change how they critique at this point because it would surely be the reflection of pressure from the viewing audience and not because they want to assist these contestants in improving what they do. It is too bad. The whole premise of AI is that these kids are not professionals and don't know the ropes. I would love it if they could get some assistance in learning how to improve their craft. They are all okay and have bright moments and moments where they could certainly do better. Being told they are wonderful most of the time serves no purpose. I don't rely on what the judges say in forming my opinion. I depend upon what I'm hearing. In fact, I like to "watch" the show by not looking at it, but just listening. That way, I'm not distracted by the stuff on stage but can just listen to how well they are singing their song.

I will be at the show tonight. I am curious to see how David and the band translate this new number to a live performance. I'm sure the place will be hopping since it is that type of song. I figure they will get a pretty good crowd reaction. Also curious to see just how much of Neal's beard he had to take off. I was bummed they couldn't just let him be, but I figured it would happen. Oh well...

Decided to drop by this thread just to say I was at the second audition taping for X Factor in LA last night. All I can say is how much I have missed Simon (and even Paula) and long for his point of view on this season's AI. Breath of fresh air last night, IMO.

I had to laugh at David saying that. Well, don't expect to perform on that show anytime soon, Mr. Cook. laugh.gif

I don't think those judges could have been any more blatant in throwing Haley under that bus. I knew from the beginning they had plans for having Scotty, James and Lauren as top 3. I would love to hear a few comments on their part regarding how Jame's quality of singing has deteriorated these past several weeks. They tell Haley she is screaming but not a word to James on his screamfest last night. I would love for them to tell Scotty that when he does those fast numbers, he comes off as just plain silly and way too campy. I would love for them to tell Lauren that, while she does have pipes, as a performer, she is a downright snoozefest. And hey....why not drive the point home as to how weak her vocals were at the end of her second song last night? I say fire them all, end the show at Season 10 and call it a day.

I watched on Youtube an early video of GaGa (when she was just a very talented regular person) performing at the piano. She was amazing. I don't get why she feels she needs all the theatrics. She was extremely exciting as a songwriter and performer without all the bells and whistles.

That certainly was an interesting results show. I'm not really all that surprised. Now I want to know this....was this the intention of the judges to make this happen? Or are they just plain stupid?

Really, I liked James at the beginning on up to a few weeks ago when, for some reason, he seemed to be focusing more on stage production instead of good vocals. To me, it was very obvious, but the judges didn't seem to care and told him he was wonderful as always. It really is a shame they didn't give him a little feedback that was worth more than just patting his head. He might have taken a second look at how to deliver a song if they had given him something that actually critiqued what he was doing. If the judges are sad this evening, they only have themselves to blame, IMO.

IMO this is going to be the most boring finale ever. I know we are in for 6 country songs. I wish Haley or James was in the finale so we had some variety.
