Just an update for anyone in the DC area, the best stations are probably:

DC101 is rock, but tends not to be too idol friendly.

I said this before, but give the stations time to get this song. The song didn't start getting airplay until last Friday. mj had told us on her blog last week to try to refrain from calling several different stations too. This song is only being played on Top 40 stations. That is what Mediabase is showing. Some may or may not want to believe this, but I believe RCA is promoting this song. Another thing we have to remember too is that this is the winning song and not the first single from his album. This song has sort of beaten the odds so far against especially Jordin's single last year in terms of sales and airplay. I would strongly advise fans to stick to requesting at their own stations. I said this last night and it's true. IdolBored tried this tactic with Blake and and it backfired big time. I know we all want to support David and I'm all for that but I don't want to do something that will end up causing him not to get airplay by the time his real first single rolls around. That's the song you really want to save your energy to push without being too pushy with the DJ's because they aren't the ones who make the decisions in what gets played. The decisions are made by mostly the program directors (their bosses). Remember, David is the winner and not the runner up, he will get more promotion. Just give the label a chance.

I loved Travis' initial first post in this thread because it pretty much said what I just stated with this post, but it's all true. You have to be so careful not to tick these DJ's off or they will treat David like he's a big joke and won't take the requests seriously. That is exactly what is happening with Blake now.

When I said David Cook, the DJ asked, "Who??" and I said he just won American Idol; he laughed at me and in a Dracula style accent he said, "We don't do the Amercian Idol stuff here" Laughed at me again and told me to try KRQ. I didn't act belligerent to him or anything. So...they'll see when his CD comes out..they'll see

I'm still trying to get a hold of KRQ but I haven't heard anything from them yet.

They came back on the line and I could hardly speak. Dangerous!! I said they just made the rest of the day. So now I'm smiling and everyone's wondering what my problem is.

haha! yes! Thank you! Some of us have learned so much from seeing what happened with other fandoms. Yes, not only that but stick to stations in the YOUR local area too. DJ's don't like getting calls from people who don't normally listen to their stations. If any of them slightly suspect that the requests are organized efforts, then they won't be taking them seriously. Yes, you are right about not being too fangirlish. That is another no no even though I know it's hard to try to hide it.

Well... DC's made it to the front page of KC101 here in CT. You can listen to TOML on-demand on the site, so I'm thinking it'll probably end up getting airplay as well.

I didn't go fan girl actually, I only called once and just asked if they were playing his song. Doesn't hurt to ask. But anywho, I'll just stick with KRQ.

Ok I did it for three stations in Portland Oregon and I also included the paragraph from Davids myspace page about radio play which is pretty impressive and gave legit backing to my request...
