Anyone have the lyrics for this song? Was this supposed to be on his second solo album?

This is just from my listening to it so many times so it may have errors and some of the words may not be right. :
Its loud enough to hear, its loud enough to fear Its loud enough to hear, you told me So you shot the gun and missed And never thought it would be like this So you shot the gun and missed Forever A house of cardboard and pretty bride Plenty of things to hold my pride, dear heaven I tried my best, she lost me I'm holding out for you, like you told me to I'm holding out for you like you told me You told me to never leave, you told me you hated me You told me to never leave, never A house of cardboard and a pretty bride And plenty of things to hold my pride, dear heaven I tried my best, she lost me The more you took away, the more I had enough The more you took away, the more I had enough The more you took away, the more I had enough The more you took away, the more I had enough The more you took away, the more I had enough The more you took away, the more I had enough A house of cardboard and a pretty bride And plenty of things to hold my pride, dear heaven A house of cardboard and a pretty bride And plenty of things to hold my pride, dear heaven I tried my best, dear heaven I tried my best |

This is not David's song. It was written by Neal Tiemann of the Midwest Kings. David just sings it. so it was or wasn't going to be on his second album? im just a little confused and trying to clear things up xD |

That's "Dear Heaven" - I've been trying to find out where that one came from ...Thank You!
http://www.david-cook.org/David-Cook-Dear-Heaven-t4815.html The mp3 is right here on this board...I just didn't know the timeline...and those lyrics match perfectly with the ones from the lyrics site I use. "Dear Heaven" appears to be a one-off...why I had no idea where it belonged in the discography. This is the list of songs David put up as being on the unreleased album..."Dear Heaven" isn't in there. Thursday, August 30, 2007 New Album Updates So we're all but done with pre-production. New songs are coming together sexy-like. We're going in to do drums on September 8th and 9th on ten songs. They are as follows: DISCLAIMER: These are all working titles and they are in no particular order. Also, any one of these songs may not make the album A Daily AntheM Precious Decline Chandelier The Downfall Only If... Ahhh. okay.
I couldn't remember where I found that list so I couldn't go back and look. So thanks. Maybe "Dear Heaven" was just a random song he did out of boredom? Or Dear Heaven isn't it's real name? :\ Could be like "Better Never Than Late," how everyone thought it was "Optimistic to a Fault" since it's said those words in the song? lol You never know? |

The official title for "Dear Heaven" is "BETTER NEVER THAN LATE." So, yeah, he had planned most likely to put it on his 2nd solo album.
ETA: Wait, scratch that. I confused "Dear Heaven" with "Optimistic to a Fault" e__e;; |

OK, guys...let's clear up the confusion:
Dear Heaven is the correct title of this song. it was written by neal tiemann and sung by david cook. it is NOT a david cook song...it is NOT one of the songs on either of his solo albums. His first solo album, released in 2006 is called Analog Heart and is available for download on this site. His second solo album was never released because he made it on American Idol. that album is called Optimistic to a Fault. Better Never than Late is the title for the song that people also know as Optimistic to a Fault. I hope this helps clarify this thread. |

You can tell from a mile away that David did not write that song. I like it anyway though, but it is strange how un-david it is though. So so so very weird that people have a songwriter like David amongst them and they only have him sing with someone else writing.

OMG, A Daily AntheM was going to be on his next album! Sorry, I'm sure that I'm late on picking up on that, but I love making all these connections between life before Idol and life after Idol.
