You know what I love? I love that because DC's a word nerd, DC fans the world over now have an obsession with words...and if they were already word nerds prior to DC, well, it's just makes people more outspoken about it. smile.gif

Heyyy!
I love this word. I used to use it all the time, until I just got weird looks.
BUT! Now that David Cook is famous, being a word nerd is popular. wink.gif

I'm the same way. I've been a word nerd and had an extensive vocabulary for years. I've often had to simplify or define what I say because I'll use a word that the person I'm talking to doesn't know. And I still have to, but at least I know now that I'm not alone in this!! David is a fellow word nerd, and I've found a ton more here!!

It goes the same way for me. I have always had a larger vocabulary due in part to my stupendous English teachers that placed me into advanced classes. I guess you could say I have always had slightly above average linguistic skills. I am delighted to see that there are many others out there like me, especially one that is now so immersed into the public eye.

For those of us who grew up with an extensive vocab, this idea is a magnanimous gesture! I, for one, am tired of having to talk down to the general public so that JohnQ can understand what I'm saying! ( My mom was declared "The Walking Encyclopedia" as the validictorian for her senior class at a prestigious midwest university.) Consequently, my introduction to language was high-brow verbage. However, it was never viewed as "Nerdy" because she was also anything but a four-eyed bookworm, she was gorgeous, and became an accomplished pianist!
Any hooo... thanks for the attempt to polish the utterances of the masses! (Now, if we could just get them to use these lofty communicatives in proper context....ahhh well....I'll save that for still another day!:)smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif
