I just donated! I'm glad someone brought this up, because I felt guilty too! I really wanted David to get something since I downloaded Analog Heart over the internet.

Thanks for posting this....and for all the suggestions. I have also suffered from guilt sad.gif I desperately wanted AH and I wanted DC to get credit and recognition....this is a great alternative until the CD is up for purchase again (and I am really hopeful that it will be available again)!

THANKS!

I made a donation in honor of Adam Cook and I had the card sent to: David Cook
c/o American Idol
7800 Beveryly Blvd.
Suite 251
Los Angeles, CA. 90036

I figure someone will get it and at least ACS will know what it's for. I too downloaded some of his music and although I will buy it when it comes out, I do feel better about doing this! Thanks so much for the idea! I hope people do it just because it's something David supports and I'm sure most of us have been touched by!

Thank you for the address. I have felt a bit conflicted about downloading Analog Heart as well, I don't usually have a problem with trading for fan-based concert downloads, but published music is a quite a different thing.

I was planning to purchase an official copy when it came out so that David wasn't cheated out of his share. But this is a wonderful way to give back, and by sending the cards to David at AI, we can let him know that his music can and will make a difference, which is what he wanted.

I'm outside the US as well, my solution was to donate, in the UK, to the Marie Curie Nurses who provide home nursing for those with cancer and other terminal illnesses - and if we ever get the chance to get AH legally and pay for it, I'll be more then happy to do that as well.

Thanks Jenna for finding this out for all of us.

This is such a great suggestion so I just made my donation. The message I sent to David was:

To thank you for the gift of your music, I want to honor you and your brother, Adam, by making a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Even if David doesn't receive the card, I feel so much better knowing the money I would have spent legally downloading his music (if it was available to do so) is now going to a great cause.

This fandom rocks! wub.gif

Downloading his songs legally wasn't possible for me (visa electron doesn't work on iTunes), and I have thought how to "pay back" to him, and thanks for you Jenna, I know how to do it now! I only need to wait until I have money to do the donation.

This newbie says thanks for posting the link to purchase the the DC wrist bands. Just ordered several. I also plan to donate to the ACS in David and Adam's names. I imagine we've all been touched in some way by this horrible disease so it's great that people are making donations to help fight it.

I've also made an appt for my physical and will be getting that mammogram I've been putting off!!

Hi y'all, I'm new here but I just wanted to say that although I have not downloaded Analog Heart but I think it's great that you all are willing to give to a charity that is close to David's heart.

I am SO glad that I found this topic. I downloaded Analog Heart also and planned on buying the CD once it is available. I hated to do this but I wanted the music so badly that I justified it to my self. Donating to AC is a fantastic idea. It will make me feel better about downloading the music. I am sure that David will be touched by the group and we are helping a much needed cause.

Thanks for making the suggestion and thanks to everyone who is following through with the donations.

This is an absolutely great idea. I had fought over the idea of downloading his music as well (it hasn't been available for purchase anywhere that i have checked) and felt entirely guilty of doing such. But i think this is a very good idea. Just another thing to add to the list of things i love about this community, the fact that everyone here is very giving and immediately willing to participate in something like this just goes to show how truly amazing the people here are!

I've been meaning to do this for a while now. Thanks for the needed "Push" to actually DO it!

I think a fanbase is often a complete reflection of the celebrity/entertainer. With David as the focus of our enthusiasm, worship and admiration is it any wonder that the members here are so generous and open-hearted?

This is a great i dea!
Didn't DC say something along the lines of, "...at the end of the day everyone has a good heart." Everyone here just proved that to be true by donating to the ACS. Cookie brings out the best in all of us! wub.gif

First and foremost, several of you have posted that your advice to this individual would be to donate the price of the CD or each song to the American Cancer Society. I want to say to you that this speaks volumes to how genuine of a fan you are. Not only do you believe this is what David would want, but you didn't even hesitate to tell this person that paying for it is the right thing to do. For that, I personally thank you.

I made a phone call this morning regarding this topic. For anyone who is having an ethical dilemma because they have downloaded David's music without paying for it, here is what has been suggested to you:

Whatever amount of money will put your conscience to rest, send in the form of a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Im excited about this option....I was searching all over for a way to purchase Analog Heart...but refused to pay 300.00 on EBAY..especially being that none of that money would go to DC.

I was lucky, by accident to find it for Free, but I too felt guilty for not paying anything for it. I worked for a record label in the late 90's and understand how mosts artist feel about the rights to theri music...

BRAVO for this Suggestion....

David Cook's Analog Heart Cancer Fundraiser!
Give back! Analog Heart is on ebay for a good cause.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=330237628622

What a generous way to help David's family. I am sure they appreciate this help immensely.

I'm a huge David Cook fan, watched the show, voted totally crazy and bought all the itunes downloads. Luckily, I was able to purchase the Analog Heart CD download on amazon.com the last day available, before it was pulled.
As an ebay seller for almost 10 years, I have been sadened to see the number of David Cook bootleg copies of DVD's and MP3's available on ebay. One seller sold 53 units between 5/22-5/27, before being warned, then finally suspended from ebay.
If you see a copy of any of David Cook's Music on ebay, you can easily report at the link on the bottom of that auction page titled "Report" and follow up with the send an email link on the following page.
I wrote an ebay Guide to educate buyers about buying a bootleg copy of Analog Heart.
If you agree, please vote for my guide. It is my hope to raise awareness to buyers and thwart potential illegally made copies.
http://reviews.ebay.com/David-Cook-Analog-...000000007376571

Some of the American Idol performance CD's (and Analog Heart MP3 copies) still keep surfacing as "Bonus" gifts at the very, very bottom of the auction. You have to scroll down very far to find this.
Search: David Cook American Idol photo amazing autograph cd to see one of the many auctions from this seller.

Currently, there is one auction closing in minutes for an authentic Analog Heart CD with part of the proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society. The auction just closed at a record breaking $2125.35.
(Check the completed auctions to see this incredible tribute! Search David Cook Analog Heart CD.)

Thanks to all the great David Cook fans on this site for maintaining the integrity we saw from David Cook on American Idol and the TV interviews that followed. He is an amazing talent. I am happy and grateful to say he made me fall in love with music all over again! Looking forward to July 1, 2008 concert in Glendale, AZ!!

Well, this trend among DC fans is amazing and heartwarming. I haven't done anything illegal that I know of, but I've certainly enjoyed the free AI video and MP3 files more than most CD's I have purchased in the past. Since they didn't offer a CD of David's studio recordings -- why not for gosh sakes? -- I'm planning to donate what I would have paid for such a CD. It's the least I can do. And thanks to the folks running this forum/site.
