I have to say I've been nervous about even READING this topic. But now I feel so much better. I've felt so guilty about what I feel was probably an illegal copy of AH. I feel bad even listening to the tracks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's not a good thing. ... I bought a digital copy of AH on eBay on 5/25 from a girl in FL. Within 2 hours of my bid winning, eBay pulled the listing, sending me this notification below. I was MORTIFIED! I'll be making my ACS donation to clear my conscience....

I totally iTunes'd it. But I think it's super cool that someone addressed this important issue. There's only a few bands/people I refuse to download music for, and he's definitely one of them.

That's another reason to say he's true musician. He wants to be heard more than earning money of it.

Unless he thinks it's better to people download it free than give away 400 dollars for a stranger who's selling it for money haha.

I genuinely think David just wants people to hear his music, and hopefully enjoy it as much as he did making it. Please remember David only gave permission for Analog Heart. I hope his fans will still consider donating to the American Cancer Society, if they download Analog Heart or anything else of David's.

As someone who is still on the journey toward survival, I am humbled by the guidance provided by David's family on his behalf -- and to the DC fans who continue to prove that they have the biggest hearts in the world!

I've jokingly thought of sending DC a check covering 99 cents for every song I've downloaded. (Which is more than he would get if I downloaded them legally.) On the slim chance he actually cashed it I'd have his signature on the check.

(Actually, that's just an idea from "The Simpsons" that backfired on Bart, so I probably shouldn't do it.)

But, since I'm a cancer survivor myself, the donation to the American Cancer Society makes more sense.

Well I have to report what mortified me when I tried to find an Axium album since I heard there were still copies available on some websites. I typed in Axium or "The Story Thus Far" (I think), and while Amazon did not have it, they referred me to 3 sellers who had the CD for sale for $50 or more!! Needless to say I was really irritated, so I sent a message to all three sellers to let them know what I thought. One of them responded and said that David and Bobby authorized the sale at $50. Can you believe that? I saw the interview with David on YouTube where he said those prices were ridiculous and that fans should just share his music (pre-Idol). Then he proceeded to say that he was turning me over to some "authorities" since I mentioned downloading his music and/or sharing music with other fans. This guy really had ba++s.

I'm glad im not the only one that thinks downloading his songs illegally is bad. Whenever i watch a Dc youtube vid I have to warn ppl not to get them illegally, and stand up for what i believe in...

*Gulp* I am feeling VERY guilty right now. I usually download songs illegally and have no qualms in that. But DC make me feel otherwise now. But I have no choice. I don't have a credit card and I can only download it for free... Plus, AH is pretty much non existent here... So yeah... I'm BAD... But now that you mention it... Do you think using money order could work for the ACS???? Or I COULD just donate a little closer to home... Good grief... My conscience are eating me....

This is a cool idea, until Analog Heart comes back into availability. Then, the best thing you could possibly do is purchase a copy. It will help David enormously. Not only will he see some portion of that money, but his label and the music industry will be able to see how much people like the CD. This will be critical for helping DC get out the music that he is writing and creating.

Does anyone have the site to legally purchase Analog Heart, or to download it illegally, Which David Gave Permission to do so,(is it then illegal?) and donate to American Cancer Society. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it.

I haven't posted on this thread before, I don't know why I decided to today it was last August when I dl'ed AH. I saw the video where David gave the ok to dl the songs, so on my own without asking what to do I sent $15 directly to Adam's bank account that they had set up to bring him to Idol cause for once I actually felt bad about dl'ing music for free cause I love David so much. The account was still up at the time, and it probably still is. I haven't dl'ed the Axium or MDK albums yet, but when I get the money I'll dl them and then send the money to Adam. I thought that would actually be better than the ACS cause in a way David would realize the money, it would be like him makiing a bunch of money for the album and giving it to Adam. I don't know if anyone else thinks this is ok or not, but I felt better doing that. Maybe someone else might come along, read this and want to know.

well... what exactly is wrong with "illegally" downloading David Cook's music? I personally knew 3 guys who "illegally" downloaded David's music thru blogspot and guess what, after a day they've bought a real physical copy kuz that illegally downloaded stuff convince them to buy with all their interest. You wouldn't want someone to buy David's album and regret it later on, would you?
