Just wondering how any of you fellow musicians felt about doing a tribute to Analog Heart? I kind of want to cover Makeover and/or Silver. Is there anyone else out there that would like to participate? I am okay with the audio aspect, but I'd need someone that could do the artwork (something similar to the original). Thoughts?

I guess no one is interested in this, so I guess I'll do it on my own. I was looking on YouTube and I could only find covers of TOML on there. My cover of Silver is coming along nicely. I just need to figure out how to play Makeover!

Once again, if anyone is interested in doing a cover of a song from Analog Heart and putting together a nice cd for David, please please message me! I'm going to try my very best to give my cd to him at the Allstate Arena show on July 19th.

I also need some help with the artwork, so anyone with mad Photoshop skillz, please PM me! I kind of wanted to do something similar to the original artwork.

I think it's a neat idea! It'd be kewl if we could do a cd of songs he did on the show too!

That's definitely a good idea (to do songs from the show) because it seems that the only people doing DC covers on YouTube are doing TOML or one of his Idol arrangements. That's definitely a possibility.

The reason I'm so into doing a tribute to AH is because A- I think this is a great opportunity to be among the first to cover something that David has written and B- I think he'll think it's awesome! I read a review on the board by a lovely lady that met David outside of his hotel in NYC. She had him sign the Analog Heart artwork and he seemed to be quite excited to see that people were into the album and also proud that he did the artwork. So... yeah. I feel like this is a gift that will REALLY stick out in his mind.

Also, and option for those of you who are not musicians but like to sing: You can ask a friend that plays guitar to help you out! I got my boyfriend to learn to play Makeover by ear. He tried teaching me to play it, but the song is just too complicated for me to play and sing at the same time. So he will play guitar on the recording while I sing. I also want to do Silver, but I'd be willing to give it up for anyone who is willing to cover it. You can get tabs to his songs on www.ultimate-guitar.com!

Thanks to everyone that's responded (that's 2 whole people now!), I really have high hopes for this project, but we don't have a lot of time. I hope some other people can get involved!

I do love to sing! I would like to sing "Don't Say a Word" but I'm not great at playing guitar and I don't really have anyone to do it for me but if someone sent me an mp3 of the music I would definately sing along!

I would love to hear everyone's interpretation of these songs! Even if you don't sing in the same style, it would be awesome to hear it done differently (I think Cook would approve! haha). An a cappella version of one of the songs would be a welcome addition to the disc, so please record away! I'll try to learn "Don't Say A Word" on guitar, but no promises there! Haha.

I hope to put up an MP3 of Makeover in the next week. And my new friend Joe is working hard on the artwork. It looks pretty cool so far. Thanks to everyone that wants to be involved. I think this is going to be one of the coolest gifts DC will ever get!

I have a broadway voice (well, kind of) so I can see what I can do.

I'll be 16 in less than 2 weeks and I am kind of going through an identity crisis as a singer and stuff. XD

So, we'll see what happens. xDD His songs are so low and when I try to sing them up the octave it's a no-good hahahaha.

I mean, I don't think that I"m the best singer ever, but I do love to sing. I'm not sure if I'm good enough though to try and sing this. If you're looking for amazing American Idol singers, I can't do it, but if you're looking for like people who can sing ok, then I'll give it a go.

I'm willing to give up Silver, if you're interested. You can probably do any song you want, but please pick one that's on AH. I'd like to keep with that theme. I have yet to receive any submissions, so the only song that I know for sure is getting done is Makeover. What AH songs were you interested in?

At this point I'm going to go ahead and say do what you want. I don't think we'll get enough submissions to cover each song, so if you can do Don't Say A Word that would be really cool.

I hope to give him the cd on July 19, so in order to give myself enough time to make the cd and be sure that the artwork has all the correct information on it I would like to have these in no later than July 11th.

That being said I would also like to add this: Please do not submit covers of you singing over David's song. I'd prefer that this be a musician-based thing. I will allow for one a cappella song on the cd because I think it will be a cool contrast... but only one. I think that someone already called it... but again, I have not received any submissions. It's almost a first come first served kind of thing. If it gets to the point where I get too many submissions in one style or of the same song we might put it up for vote... but at this point, I'm not too picky.
