Stacey81,
I was wondering if you were getting anywhere on Don't Say a Word. If you can't figure out how to play that one on guitar, I wouldn't mind singing Let Go if you can play that one. Or if PhantomlyWicked DOES decide to give up Fall Back Into Me I wouldn't mind doing that one either. Thanks! ~Amy |

PhantomlyWicked is definitely doing Fall Back Into Me. She sent me a cool "demo" version, and I think her final cut is going to be GREAT!
As far as learning Don't Say A Word, I haven't even gotten started! I'll have to ask my boyfriend to help me because the tabs I got are a bit confusing, but I'll keep you updated. In the event you know someone else that plays guitar or piano that could help you, that would be really good. I don't want all the songs to sound the same. But I'll get back to you. Here's something else to get thinking about: We have decided to make this a package instead of just a cd. Joe is getting a bracelet made for David to go with the cd. And we're also talking about doing a medley where everyone on the tribute will sing part of TOML as a bonus track. We also need to work out the liner notes. And last, but not least, everyone who is participating can include a note/letter and a photo that will hopefully (time permitting) be bound together and included in this package. Thanks to everyone who is participating! |

I think I got it from davidcooktheamericanidol.com but it might not be there anymore. It's not for sale anymore, unless you look on eBay. But I've seen it sell for more than $400 there. |

I recently got a submission for Don't Say a Word. It's pretty good and I'm really excited about it.

I wanna sing! This is such a cool idea...I think he'd love to hear others doing his songs! I don't know how to submit myself singing...how are you guys doing it...in a mic to the computer or what? I'd love to cover a couple and send them and see what you guys think...and whoever did that artwork...it was awesome! If I can't sing I could send something else to include in the "package"...I am not sure what yet...ideas would be great...I am pretty crafty...I make candles...but I am not sure if he would enjoy a candle...I could make it a "Coookie" candle! Smellin like cookies and stuff. What say you guys?

Well I also like the song Let Go but I still don't have music for it. If someone could do that for me I'd love to do that one! Although it does have a longish guitar solo. Maybe there's a way to cut it out.

I'd love to be able to do the music for everyone that wants to participate, but the heart and soul of this project is individual interpretations of each track. I don't want to turn this into a "Stacey and Friends" record. I would just like to ask that everyone first try to find another avenue for doing their cover. Be creative. Ask friends who play insturments (even a clarinet or violin could be a GREAT accompaniment), bust out your recorder or Casio keyboard from grade school, or you can do it Blake Lewis style and beat box! The more you put yourself into it, the cooler this cd is going to be. I don't want anyone to be discouraged because they aren't necessarily a musician, but I also don't want this to be karaoke either. I'm happy to talk with anyone on AIM to try to figure out ways everyone can do their own thing. Hit me up on AIM at "dear delirious."

I think someone already did an acapella one didn't they? Well I can try my best to find someone to do it for me but it's probably not gonna happen. I'll see what I can do though. And are we going to do a medly for Time of my Life cause I know I could send something in for that!

I will jump in here. I didn't read all the posts and I haven't listened to much Analog Heart, but I do play the guitar and am quite good at figuring things out. I have an acoustic only. I do sing, too, only nowhere near as well as David does. I'm a little busy today and through the weekend - the in-laws are in town, but I will check back and see if I can help with anything. Anything for David.

I started "self-teaching" myself on guitar two days ago, but unfortunatley, I don't think there will be anyway for me to perfect a song by the time the song needs to be ready. |

I thought I had access to Analog Heart on the David Cook music player, but there are only a few songs from there on it. So I don't know how Let Go goes. I see the lyrics are in the lyrics section. Could you get it to me somehow? Play it for me over the phone?
Are you open to putting other songs on there too, or just Analog Heart? I thought I saw something about putting other things in there. I have figured out TOML, TWIK, and Little Sparrow. Little Sparrow is a lot of fun. I plan on figuring out Always Be My Baby because it sounds easy. I really need to read this thread better. I'm always in a rush. I always have to get off the computer. What is the timeframe on this project? |

On Monday, after one of my exams, I am going to be recording this song on my Chorus teacher's GarageBand and recording system.
I am really excited for it. I can sing by verse now. I don't have to try to perfect every time straight through haha. Time frame: early july, but it would be nice if it was earlier so something could get made up for him. |

TaylorSue: The deadline is July 11th. I can send the MP3s to you through email if you want.
For now we are doing only Analog Heart songs because it's a tribute to AH! I think David would appreciate it most if they were all his songs... not a tribute to a cover (although if we had more time it would be fun to put something like that together). That being said, we are trying to figure out a way to compile a medley of everyone singing a part of Time of My Life. I think what we'll end up doing is having someone record the guitar for it and then send the MP3 to everyone who wants to sing along. Then everyone will record the whole song and I will splice parts of each version together into a medley. This is Joe's idea, by the way. I just wanted to give him credit for that. PhantomlyWicked: I am so excited to hear the finished product! It would be really cool if you could get some of the people in your chorus to do backing vocals for you! Is that a possibility? |

I don't know. My friends who are DC geeks aren't that good hahaha
I might do back-ups myself though. I am going to keep listening to the song to see what I can do. I doubt any of them want to stay after 2 exams. haha EDIT: Nothing to sound rude or anything. XD As a senior, going to be a junior this coming school year, I kinda want to make a CD of my own stuff as a senior project and I want to get used to doing stuff like that independantly. |
