Lo "on Demand" In Nyc Market

106.7Lite FM has David streaming on demand today. Doesn't yet seem to be on their new song line-up (someone correct me if I'm wrong). He's got a full page with multi-graphics and info etc. Real nice set up.

I e-mailed them my request to play it. (Politely, of course!!!)

Just hearing LO stream through that station gave me shivvers. You'd think I knew him personally, how happy I am that he has finally ARRIVED!!!!!

Ny Times Pre-review Of David's Album

The Arts & Leisure section of the 9/7 NY Times includes David's cd among the many pre-reviewed for the upcoming Fall months. The reviewer for David is Jon Caramanica:

"David Cook:The winner of the most recent season of "Americdan Idol" melted hearts, and possibly minds, with an unswerving committment to "90s middlebrow rock, a la Collective Soul and Our Lady of Peace. That he's working with members of those bands on his solo debut is cause for cheer among "Idol" viewers but possibly not for music fans. November. 19/Arista."

Well - I've read this over and over and can't quite get at his underlying meaning or if this is a good or luke warm pre-review. One thing I do feel is that it seems reviewers are really hard on David. Perhaps expectations are high? I read back over the very many previews, and all the NY Times reviewers are like the toghest-assed professors you ever had, even for big-name artists releasing this Fall.

Sorry - I don't know how to give the link etc. I subscribe to the Times so I get it on Saturday.

This same critic gave Dave a very odd review on August 7 of his performance at the Nassau Coliseum,saying that "he managed to appear both smug and glum, his performance carrying the air of the perfunctory about it.Perhaps thousands of screaming fans are not enough to lighten the burden of being the one who has to shout, and the end of the night, "give it up for Pop Tarts, Guitar Hero and the band! (In that order)."

So it's really hard to tell if he is sympathetic, challenging, encouraging, disapproving or what. The Times is really important. I hope that when the cd is delivered, JC sees growth - which he feel he saw the "final installment" of at the Coliseum. We all seem to know that David's potential is sky high.
