Well i thought i would start this thread to see how many people out there are like me..
Me personally, im terrified of BALLOONS. Yep you read that correctly BALLOONS! i dont know where it came from but ive been like this my entire life. There's a video somewhere of me at my !st birthday, and i refuse to go in the room because it had balloons in there.
Even now at 17 i cant stand to be in the same room as a balloons, i just freak out.
My other fear's over the years have been: Wedding cakes, puzzles, crayons, logtrucks, sunbeds, marshmellows and now also driving. I freak out everytime i get in a car. Im starting to get over it though.
So if you have a random fear that everyone else finds pathetic, JOIN ME!

Bridges.
I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be, thankfully. They used to scare the bejesus out of me. Now I'm only mildly afraid of 'em.
Bees.
I was stung by one when I was in third grade, and I've been deathly afraid ever since.

I've got a slew of fears: the dark (even as grown, married woman I have to have a nightlight), fire (I can't even light a match and I won't use a gas stove), large dogs, heights (no window seats or even looking out the window in an airplane), roller coasters, going into a pool or water more knee deep (I'm convinced I drowned in a previous life), any and all horror movies, and the strangest of all -- making phone calls.
Stef C
Jul 17 2008, 09:30 PM
Holy shit im the same with phone calls! I never answer the phone and if i really have to ring someone ill txt them first and make sure they answer. If someone else answer's i hang up

Ugghhh... Random fears!
Alrighty heres mine:
Clowns. Im petrified of them. I can't watch them on the telly or look at them in magazines! As far as i'm concerned they are the devil in disguise!
Under the sea Even Finding Nemo gets a little difficult to watch!
Egyptian Antiquities I didn't realise this one until I freaked out in the Louvre in Paris last October. I totally showed myself up!
China Dolls I won't enter a room that has these in...!

2. The color Pink
3. Other peoples feet
4. The movie Jaws

It's weird -- I can
answer the phone just fine, but I can't
make a phone call to someone I don't know, like even calling for a dentist appointment is nearly impossible. It really hurts my work because I have such a hard time just calling people up out of the blue. This is why I absolutely LOVE email -- I make most of my business contacts via email and set things up that way (it's easier to reach people via their email anyway.)
The only people I can call without thinking about it are my mother and my daughter. There are some family members I can't even call, like my brothers or my sister-in-law and nieces, and not because I don't like them or anything.
I have no idea why I can't make phone calls -- I think it's innate shyness, low self-esteem, a fear of being rejected for some reason. I went almost 2 years paying for a service I wasn't using because I was too afraid to call the company to cancel!!
Oh, I just thought of another really, really weird one -- astronauts in those white space suits with the glass ball helmets! Freaks me out!!

Yep, i have fears as well, so here i go!:
Heights: wow, really bad fear of mine... seriously, at the "Idol" concert, i didn't realize what the term "nosebleed" meant...until i sat up there.

i started hyperventilating and shaking at first, and my parents thought i wasn't going to make it through the concert...but i did

.
Needles: holy crap...i literally faint everytime i have to go to the doctors...its just
really bad, im glad none of you have to see it, b/c i would be insanely embarrased
Driving: i am constantly pressured to drive (i'm 17), but i seriously can't even gather enough courage to even put my foot on a pedal anywhere. i wish it would go away, considering i need to get around by some sort of vehicle for my job/ college...i just don't think im going to be able to do that anytime soon

Me too because Stairs are another fear of mine.
I have fallen down stairs (in public) so many times that I panic if its a massive flight of them.
Not good when you are trying to desend from the Great Wall of China. It took me 40 minutes to walk down them and I was freaking out the whole time!!!
At 29 Needles is a silly thing to fear. I should be over that one by now... lol!

I'll 'fess up to the one that has gotten me teased the most (I posted it in the phobias thread too) - frogs and toads. Big ones, little ones, it doesn't matter - I don't like frogs or toads. Everybody has made fun of me for years, and I know it's irrational, but I can't help it! When we were younger either my brother or my cousin threw one on me and ever since, I've had this phobia.
I don't think my fears of heights, flying, snakes, and drowning are all that random. Oh, but I am afraid of roller coasters and other fair rides that take you high up in the air or spin you upside down. I like those that stay on the ground and go really fast, but no thanks to being upside down or high in the air, or both. I wouldn't feel safe.

Mine is really weird and I always get made fun of for it. But I am terrified of fish. I don't like to look at them, touch them, eat them, even be near them. I won't swim in a lake, pond, etc. if there's fish in it because I'm scared one will touch me. I hate when they look at me. I was at the zoo once and a fish looked at me and I ran and cried. It's really stupid, but I really hate them.

Here's mine:
-Bees (this is one of my worst)
-Spiders
-Clowns
-Ventriloquist Dummies -shudders-
-I'm afraid to make phone calls, too. And I won't answer the phone if the number on the caller I.D. is one I don't recognize.
-Porcelain Dolls
-Driving on freeways (the heavy traffic and high speed scares me to death after my car accident. I had to have my sister drive me to the Idol concert Sunday because you have to take the freeway to get to the arena.)
-Deep water
-Flying
