Two songs are analyzed: The Truth, which is one of my favorites; a really beautiful love song with amazing vocals, and Silver.

Thanks for sharing this article! This is like no other critique I have read. Very interesting.

Thanks for sharing. I have been listening to a lot of AH lately.

I have to say, though, that I HATE the piano on Silver and if this is re-tooled that it goes.

I LOVE this review! I just know his new album is going to be amazing! Analog Heart is such an incredible collection of songs, and I just listen to it over and over again.

I'm tending to agree with you about the piano, it is a bit overpowering and places an immediate heaviness on the song from the beginning. I don't hate it exactly, but it is not what I like about the song.

Thanks for the link! smile.gif

As I read the review, it never failed to remind me how I felt blown away, from the way David sang The Truth and Silver. wub.gif

Yes, thank you for this link! This is awesome! You can tell greatness when you hear it, and AH does indeed show David's greatness.

This bloggin stuff has been new for me, and now I know why it is so cool--I would have never seen this review before--ThanksAgain!

Hi, This is such a great article. Just for your info, I posted an earlier thread about this in the forum "All About David Cook."

The more who read it the merrier! Hope David knows about it.

Masterclasslady also did some great reviews of all the idols doing Season 7. The following is one of many.

She also predicted early on a match up between the two Davids.

Great article on the AH songs, and I found the critiques of top 3 night fascinating, especially her assessment of DC and what she would like to see him do. Wonderful to see a professional such as her relate all the things she loves about David's voice and performance skills. I would also love to see her review what I consider DC's two finest performances... the stunning AI performance of TWIK and his flawless studio recording of ABMB.

Thanks so much for sharing that -- how cool.

The Truth and Silver are 2 of my favorite songs off of AH.

And I personally love the piano at the beginning of Silver - its very haunting. smile.gif

I was so moved by The World I Know. It was so good. I found it amusing that the singer from collective soul said it was great to hear a "real professional" sing it! LOL! I also really loved All I Really Need Is You. He would be doing his fans a great service if he would do studio recordings of these two along with Hello.

I'd love studio versions of EVERYTHING he's done. One and a half minutes is never enough of David Cook! Cannot get enough of this man! Besides I think my neighbors are getting sick of hearing him in my yard! Can I ask you where that squeeze me baby quote came from?

Thank you and thanks to whomever started this topic! smile.gif

Sorry, you are the same person! I'll tell you, my 2 teenagers are hugely into music at their high school, and when they try to explain any details to me I always kind of zone out. But whenever DC says something involving music theory, I can't drink it in fast enough! Amazing! biggrin.gif

Yes Sara, that was Ed Roland, and he loves David's voice... so much so that he decided to be one of the songwriters who collaborated with David on the new album. That was confirmed last week. I remember that radio interview about TWIK... Roland admitted that he and his band mates don't have the greatest of singing voices, and that his vocals were the strongest so he won out as lead vocalist by default. He said that David is a great singer and that he loved hearing his song sung by someone who can really sing!

Haha, I know what you mean about the music thing. The quote is from The Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin

Yes, thank you Scott. I had forgotten his name. I thought it was so funny that he referred to David as a professional; given the whole Idol thing. David had better record that in the studio sometime. I have so many different versions now, the AI one, Ellen, and various others, but I need that studio one. I am sure their collaboration will be fantastic.

What a great review!

I really cant stop listening to Analog Heart, and now I'm mixing that in with Axium's The Story Thus Far, they are both simply wonderful. I like those albums much better than the stuff he did no Idol & honestly and its getting me through till his new CD drops...

"Can you play me something new..." wink.gif

Wow, that was so interesting! I agree with Piper5 in that I'm grateful to people who post these sorts of items because I probably would've missed it too so thanks very much.

Stupid question maybe, but does David play piano?

wow those are really good reviews. and david deserves them fully. those 2 songs are AMAZING. 2 of my favorite. I could listen to silver over and over. although its difficult to pick favorites because I love them all but porcelain is probably my absolute favorite.

Love the review! Love the album! I can't wait until the new album is released. I truly hope that it is more like AH than top 40. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Yes, we had an Analog Heart Liner Notes thread and David was given credit for Vocals, Guitar, and Piano.

There was another guitarist on a couple of songs, but no other pianists, so that would be him smile.gif

I posted this in another topic in response to a question from JerseyGirl2, but I thought you all would like the info.
I just got a copy of the original Analog Heart CD and it has the following liner notes:

David Cook - Vocals/Guitar/Piano
Josh Center - Drums
Neal Tiemann - Guitar (tracks 4,5,8)
DTMB - Bass (tracks 3,4,5,8,10)
Ben Hosterman - Bass (tracks 2,7)

Produced by David Cook
Engineered by Ben Hosterman (tracks 1,2,4-10) Andy Skib (tracks 4,5,8) and Paul Johnson (tracks 3,10)
Extra Vocals on "Silver" performed by Andy Skib

I didn't know David played the piano on the CD or that Andy is singing background vocals!
