I read somewhere David A, Cookie and Jason all did fantastic versions of I'll Be in Hollywood, but they couldn't get the rights to air it on T.V.

You'd think that Edwin McCain could use the dough, too. He's doing little, itty, bitty club tours (like seriously small venues). The only thing I can think of is that if that is McCain's signature song, maybe he doesn't want to be outdone by these boys? But I'd seriously pay good money to have David's version of I'll Be . . .

I agree completely! I think I remember them having trouble in the past with Edwin McCain's songs... not sure. I can see him not wanting to be outsung on his signature song, but at the same time, the exposure might drum up sales for him, and perhaps sell a few more tickets to his concerts...

I wish AI still did what they did once or twice in the past. When it got down to the final three or four, they did this total fluff piece bonus hour profiling them, showing things you might have missed, or that never aired to begin with. (A la Bo Bice's initial audition...) THAT was neat and really gave a bit more insight into who these guys are.

I wish they'd been able to show more of him singing I'll Be - I'd never heard it before he sang it, and I looked it up on YouTube - it's a lovely sing, and him singing it is amazing!

I think Bo Bice sang "I'll Be" in the past either during the Hollywood rounds or before making the Top 12. I remember him saying he used to sing that a lot in weddings on the show. I don't know why Edwin wouldn't clear it this season. I wish we could have seen more, DC sings it beautifully.

I've had this clip for a while - but it drives me CRAZY to watch it!! WANT WANT WANT the full song. I literally lie awake nights after relistening to the 5 second clip thinking of ways to get hold of it. Do you think if we petition American Idol or David they'll get the rights to let us see him sing the full song???
