am i the only one who thought it was kinda rude when michael was eliminated and ryan was like 'this time is the competition last year, we didnt eliminate anyone. (long a.s pause.) but tonight were gonna say goodbye to michael johns.' ryan totally got his hopes, and like everyone elses, by making them think he was staying.
am i the only one? please someone tell me they agree!!!

Gotta agree with ya there. Ryan, you're allowed to shut your mouth occassionally!
You know what's really bugging me about that, though? Once I figured out that Ryan was going to send everyone to the safety of the blue couch until he narrowed it down to the bottom three, I kind of got my hopes up that maybe it wouldn't be an elimination week after all. I mean, how many times has Ryan sent no one to the stools until he had three contestants left?
So when Ryan said that, I got my hopes up even
more.
Then BAM. We find out that Michael's really going home.
That is probably the first time Seacrest really got on my nerves.

stop hating on ryan for that. he's just the host and his job is to read whatever the prompter says. guaranteed that was not his idea...

it is rude but then again Ryan had to do it because avid fans of Idol will ask in the future and somehow the questions will end up with a big hoopla and they just don't want to deal with that, so it had to be done. plus, it's tv, whatever the producers/directors told you to do, you just have to do it. i used to work in the production line and these things are normal.

What Ryan said was really harsh. There was no need to bring up last year if they weren't going to do the same thing again. I felt so bad for Michael after he said that. What a way to crush the guy even more. But I really don't blame Ryan, he is just the puppet for the producers.

I'm actually not hating on Ryan (he's a sweetheart!), I agree with you that it can't have been his idea. But whoever thought of it...

Bleh, I know. I guess I just jumped to blame someone, and he's who said it, so... yeah.
But ARGH.
Maybe we ought to sue the producers or something.

On AI Extra this week they asked MJ how he felt about that same issue, and like the rest of us, it did get his hopes up a little, but he did say (in Ryan's defense) that after Ryan said it he gave Michael a "I am so sorry I had to do that to you" look.
Not Ryan's fault, still sucked though!!
Can't wait for his CD to come out, I was hoping for DC and MJ in the final show.
Did anyone catch AI Extra? It was so sad and sweet, David was crying after the show along with a few others, made me want to give him a great big hug. Okay, well actually I don't need a reason to want to put my hands on him, but any excuse will do.

When he said that my hopes just sky-rocekted believing that Michael might be staying...then they plumeted back to earth and died.

Wow, after reading my comment back it's really weird...whatever

Honestly though it really did get my hopes up quite a bit that there wasn't going to be an elimination. I thought that was really mean.

i was really annoyed with ryan too and thought that he should come on and apologize live tonight but then i heard michael on regis and kelly yesterday morning and heard this interview on air with ryan and i've started to change my mind. just listen to it and you'll see what i mean. ryan was shocked by it all and was told to deliver it a certain by nygel, so what's he supposed to do? not listen to his boss?
michael johns on air with ryan seacrest

I realize that Ryan doesn't write his little quips, but his delivery of letting MJ know he was eliminated extremely lacked tact.

I'm agree that it was little rude. When Ryan said that last year no one eliminated so I was sure that this year it will be the same but it didn't. Why this year it's differents?!
