So after hearing that David had gone to LA for a couple of days I gave up my plans of going early to try and get his autograph as I didn't want to submit my hubby to hours of waiting since I figured that he would probably not be out before the concert as he was just arriving in StL Friday.
So we just went downtown a couple of hours before the concert, had a nice dinner and made our way to the concert. Now mind you while at dinner we saw lots of idol fans with banners, special passes around their necks, etc. and I was pretty bummed that they were going to get to meet the Idols and I wasn't but it was all good as I was at least going to the concert and we did have floor seats. Then someone else said that they met David that afternoon as he did come out and again I was bummed but it was a choice I made so it was ok.
When we got to the venue we found a bar inside and stopped in for a quick drink before heading to our seats. We were sitting there talking when all of a sudden I looked up and said to my hubby - Oh my God that's David's brother Andrew!!! My hubby looked over and said yes, yes it is. Then we see his sister and brother-in-law. Now I'm freaking out trying to decide what to do. I hate to bother people. So I get up the nerve and go over and say "excuse me, I don't want to interupt family time but just wanted to say hello and how much we have enjoyed David and his family." They are super cool and say oh we see each other all the time, no problem and just start carrrying on a conversation with us (cause my hubby had joined me by then) asking our names etc. Andrew notices my David Cook Rocks bracelet and comments on it and when we ask if we might take a picture of them his sister says oh I'm nobody let me take a picture of you guys and Andrew. Your not "a nobody but Wow!!! Andrew said that as of yesterday he IS going to audition but tomorrow that may change as its' alot of pressure following "that guy". LOL. I asked if mom was coming and they said yes that's who their waiting for.
So now I'm happy, heart is racing and we make our way to our seats. If I didn't get to meet David at least I met Andrew right??? Get to the seats and OMG they are awesome. Three rows from the end of the center catwalk just great for wonderful pictures. Concert is about to begin and guess who walks in........Mom and her husband, sister and Andrew. They are sitting 6 rows in front of us. This is great.
At this point I will tell you guys that the concert was AWESOME. All of the Idols did a fantastic job and I was really amazed at the crowd. They were loud and there was screaming and yelling but they were also respectful and did it at the right times still allowing the performers to perform and the audience to hear everything. Way to go StL.
So now it's intermission and I decide to try to meet his mom. That was super easy and both she and her husband are super nice people. Chatted with each of them briefly but didn't want to bother them so I didn't ask for a picture of them but it was cool meeting them and telling her what a great family she has and how she raised her boys so well.
Top 4 Idols were awesome and now the show is over and we start to head towards the car when my hubby says aren't we going to check out where the Idols might come out???? Really??? You want to do that???? Yes he's in full Idol mode now so we find the place and start standing about three people back on the far end. Then they annouce that the Idols will not come out for another hour and only sign for 15 - 30 minutes. Some people leave and I look at my hubby but he's not moving. So we wait. And then here they start coming one at a time and like I said we were on the far end but they came all the way to the end. Everyone came out except Brooke and Ramielle and we were able to say hi to each of them and get their autographs.
As for David Cook - he came out with.........Andrew. Yes Andrew was signing right along with David. It was really neat and you could tell he was eating it up. I asked if maybe we could get a picture of the brothers together and he laughed saying that would be worth like $1,000. That never happened though as they were both trying to make sure that everyone at least got an autograph which I respect. David chatted with us briefly as he signed for people but he did make eye contact with us twice while he was talking to us and signing for others. Very cool. Sweet guy. And when someone near us said people behind were pushing he stopped and strongly told the crowd to back up and calm down. He wants to do everything he can for everybody but he doesn't like it when people get pushy!!!
So there's my story. Sorry if it got long or wordy but I so enjoy reading others reports that I wanted to share mine as well. The Idol Concert is SO worth the money and it doesn't matter what kind of seats you have. Your there and if your like me and followed them week after week then you feel like your watching your family up on stage and it's a great experience.

Wow, great story thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to go to the concert in August.
I think we are going to plan to go early just in case they do come out.

Thanks so much for your post. I love hearing about people meeting David and you got to meet his family. Thanks for telling his mom how great she is. Andrew is already famous by proxy. I think I'd be hesitant to audition after DC, too. Everyone at Idol will know who he is. Love Andrew, though.

Aww what a great story, meeting the whole Cook family in one day! Lol at Andrew, a lot of pressure following "that guy", hah! They're such nice people. And that's funny that David and Andrew were both singing autographs afterwards, too cute!! Great that you and your hubby had a blast!!
Pam08
awwwww what a sweet story. Glad you got to meet the family and Cookie. smile.gif I continued listening to the cellcert last night that Rickey was doing when they went to the buses. David sounded like he was really happy and the fans were really screaming. He did say his knee was better. Some of the others did come out as you mentioned. It was awesome listening to that. smile.gif

I don't think anyone's account can be too wordy! We all love hearing about everyone's encounters, and the more details, the better! I think it makes us feel like we are there right along with you and can really feel what it was like for you. Thank you sooooo much for sharing!

What a great story! I really love how down-to-earth the whole family is and how they're so accommodating to David's fans. I love even more how respectful fans seem to be to the family and that is wonderful you told his mom what a great job she did raising her boys. She may not remember your name or anything but wow, that seems like the best compliment ever for a mom to get from a stranger!

I am so anxious over Andrew auditioning. I mean, I know David said Andrew sings better than him (wut? is that even possible?) but Andrew didn't make the cut last time. I know how exploitive AI and Fox can be and I'm so nervous about Andrew. I want him to do well on his own. But I don't want AI or Fox to pass him on just for ratings, if he's not good enough.

bailey82 - thank you for such a great story. I am so glad that you got to meet David and David's family. Your recap was not wordy at all - Kudos to your husband - I am so glad that the two of you had such a wonderful experience.

That is so sweet that the two brothers where signing autographs together.

Yes, they have really been a part of so many of our lives over the last months that they really do feel like extended family.

They are very nice and down to earth which is why I was hestitant to "bother" them but they were very cool and said it wasn't a bother at all. I didn't want to be a "stalker". I just wanted to tell them how much all of us appreciate their family and how wonderful it has been to have them be a part of our families.
