Wouldn't it be great to have a contest with a fairly nice prize? This is just the thinking stage of the contest. Ideas and suggestions are welcomes. Prize ideas are welcomed as well.

The contest has to be something that everyone can participate in.

well...the IDEAL prize would be a chance to meet David Cook! duh! ...maybe sit in on a studio session!

but other ideas are: autographed items, a "real" copy of his pre-idol albums, the clothes off his back (lol...random idea...and on a not sweaty day ), tour tickets (idol or his solo tour), free copy of the new album, an opportunity to be in his first video , i can get really outrageous here!

Contest ideas:
- scavenger hunt: take pictures of things on the list and post thread
- name that song: a david cook song, of course
- we already have the sport your support challenge
- who can raise most $$$ for the American Cancer Society
- t-shirt design contest
- i love bianca's blend challenges...but don't think most ppl have the skills/software to participate
- also can do random drawings where you can either pick a member at random from the entire board, or everyone who enters by a certain date gets in on the drawing.
-wordnerdiness challenges: crossword or vocab challenges

Those are some good ideas.

I like the thought of doing something different than raising money for American Cancer Society because that is the center of every other contest on here. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great how much money we're raising for such an awesome cause, but we shouldn't restrict ourselves to one type of contest. It limits the creative input.

Also, we have to make sure the contest is worth the prize. I don't think it'd be good to have a "right time right place" contest. We want to make sure everyone who wants to have an opportunity to win has one. I can't wait to see what other ideas get posted; unfortunately, I'm not nearly creative enough to think of something.

I found what part of the prize will be...added to the first post...either part of first place or runner up prize.

That would be ideal, for the First Prize.

As for second prize, third prize or consolation prizes, autographed items or tickets to his next gig would be ideal.

On the other hand, I ain't too creative enough to think of what contest I can think up of.

I like all of Annie's ideas. For prizes, I of course totally agree with the meet DC prize!! But if not, lol, then I agree with the tour tickets, the autographed items, and especially the pre-Idol CD's, ESPECIALLY Analog Heart....I would love to have a real copy of that.

Contest ideas? Ummmm....what about an essay contest? Or a photo contest?

I don't really have anything to add. I like the idea for the prizes and I like the idea for the contests, especially the scavenger contest because anybody could enter that as long as they have a camera.

The essay contest or poetry or photo contest would also be really good.

If it's a poetry or essay contest, how will they be judged and by whom?

Since I'm a sucker for riddles and puzzles, I like the idea of a scavenger hunt. But with 'twists and turns'. For example, what if riddles were posed in lesser known facts about DC and the answer we submit had to be a photo of something that represents the answer but also from our home towns. I'm not explaining this very well. After a 15 hour day at work, I'm at a loss for descriptive words! lol Ooooo....and if fans from this site belonging collectively to represent a city, we could have T E A M S! Ooooo....We could have group prizes too....Like lunch with DC! Okay....my brain is sputtering to mush now. That's all I've got.
