KANSAS CITY, MO. -- FOX 4 has confirmed that David Cook's brother, Andrew Cook, has chosen not to try out for American Idol this year. Andrew Cook did audition last season in Omaha. In fact, he's the reason David Cook auditioned in the first place. Andrew didn't make it to Hollywood, but he did share some of the spotlight as his brother won the Idol crown. Andrew has agreed to work with FOX 4 during our auditions coverage. You can chat live with Andrew Cook on myfoxkc.com Thursday at Noon.
I'm really disappointed. I was hoping that we might have another Cook to route for next year.

I think he made the right decision. If Andrew auditioned for AI this year (and even in subsequent years), the intense media scrutiny would be mind-numbing. He'd constantly be compared to David. The pressure on him would be incredible right from the get-go. Not really a good situation for creativity, but then again, the Cook boys seem to thrive on challenges.

kinda disappointing.. but on 2nd thought, LavenderBlue is right .. if he WILL win, some people may say that the reason for that is because the cookiehoLics (David COOK's fan not Andrew COOK's) supported him .. on the other hand, if he WILL Lose, one way or another, we wiLL aLL be disappointed ..
not a good scenario .. don't you think so?
so i think, he made the right decision.

You have a point there. Everyone would compare him to david, and it would just be too much pressure.
