David and Andrew are scheduled to sing the National Anthem for the KC Chiefs home opening game on September 14th:

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that American Idol champion and Blue Springs, Missouri native David Cook will perform the National Anthem on September 14th when the Chiefs host the Oakland Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium. David will perform the anthem with his younger brother, Andrew Cook.

Gee, I wonder what happened to David's vow never to do that again! I'm sure he couldn't pass up the chance to sing in KC with Andrew. I bet their voices sound great blended together. But I wonder when they'll find the time to practice together! Beth is going to be the proudest mother in America that day!

This is going to be incredible! He has to be so excited to be doing this for his Chiefs, and with Andrew. NOt as big a stage as the NBA finals, and so much more personal to him. I'm thrilled for him. Unfortunately, I think insanegolfur is right that the network typically doesn't show the Anthem for regular season games. But I would imagine that one of the local stations would have some footage and post it, even if it's the FOX station, since they have been covering him so heavily until this point.

For those that asked, the game is at 1pm ET/Noon CT on CBS, but will likely only be locally televised. According to the NFL website, there are three other CBS games on at the same time as the OAK/KC game.

That's what I first thought when I read this. I guess if you're asked to sing at your favorite sports team's event, how could you say "no"? Plus, having Andrew will probably lessen the nerves.

That response made me chuckle. When they were the LA Raiders, they used our middle school as a training camp. When they finally left to go back to Oakland and our town went to repair and school so it could, again, be used as a school, we realized just how little care they used when they were there. It was a terrible mess. Needless to say, they are not our favorite team.

I'll admit, I'm nervous. Luv him, he's mad talented. I hope Andrew being there will change the dynamic and their confidence feed off each other. But I must admit, I was Team Mediocre on the NBA Finals imo.

I think it's great that they are doing it together. Andrew's voice will be rested. I can imagine how tired DC will be after the tour. I am glad DC will be able to go home. Surely the FOX station will be there to cover it.

Prolly so. The Dixie Chicks have sung the National Anthem in 3-part harmony and it was smashing!!! They sang the NA first Super Bowl after 911. Fabulous.

So I imagine there's something that can be done with 2 voices, as well.

Fabulous news. I will be there and I will have my camera. Now I just need to get to the 50 yard line so I can get some sweet pictures. What a great thing for the Cook brothers and their family. What a great thing for the Chiefs fans and the city of KC.
In June the Royals had a firework display after one of their games and the big screen showed famous people from Kansas Ciy. David Cook was the last person shown and the music playing during the whole show........Time Of My Life.
KC loves David Cook and so do we!!!! Congratulations Daivd, Andrew and the Cook Family.

I hope it's on tv!! KC and Da Raiders are a big rival so they might be the main game for CBS (unless you live closer to the other 4 cities). Guess we'll have to wait and see.
