ok I read elsewhere that fans were mad that DC just left after in limo with GF and didn't acknowledge them

BUT
then it was posted had nothing to do with her but another crazy fan that jumped him and freaked him out *from Archies mouth) so he may NOT come out much AFTER shows anymore and they DA may not either bc
FREAKY fans ruin it yet again UGH angry.gif

So not sure it's all true but go before sure to get your meeting with DC so your not disappointed after in case he doesn't come out

I heard that both Cookie and Archie did extensive autograph signing before the show last night. Not sure about after but heard he was there, too. Even if he was not, people do not need to get all angst-ridden about it.

Or believe everything they read on the Internet. Generally the caution light should go on immediately once any kind of situation is blamed on his girlfriend.

CookiesNCream - I don't think there was any necessity for putting this in a separate threat. Both items where incorporated in other threads and it has been discussed.

Meeting David with the schedule he has is a bonus and people get that.

There will be times that he will come out and meet the fans (i.e. at the Colisseum yesterday afternoon and last night) and then there will be times (other obligations may take over) that he will not be able to meet the fans the way he wants to.

BTW - the issue with your first item - was that someone went to the hotel at 1A in the morning and this was not an appropriate place because being at the hotel is know infringing on personal time. The individual did get a hello at least.

In regards to David being jumped on by a fan - we do not know if that is true or not; I hope that people are a lot smarter and respect him as a human being. We have to remember the word-nerd pact as the tour continues. One of the big ones respect for David and also not to infringe on his privacy.

My 2 cents...but realize I was only out BEFORE the show...

The security at the Coliseum was pretty laid back - I personally watched one girl from the edge of the line (not behind a barricade since they let people stand on the curb) run up and hug David Cook...then later I saw 2 girls jump on the back of David Archuleta - and security didn't do much about getting them off of him.

I feel fortunate that I've been able to meet them when I have...even Brooke commented that the idols feel bad that they don't always get out but that fans expect to see them. She mentioned that they have so many other obligations that we don't often know about. (BTW - most of them seemed to have their spouses/sig. others in the area given the schedule and nearby locations...I don't blame them for wanting some time away from us!)

The security sometimes is at falt as well - I guess it depends on the venue, because I found that at the PruCenter - the night I was there -security was pretty tight both AI Security and Center Security.

I hate to hear that Archie got jumped on as well. There are going to be those fans that will turn these IDOLS off. I really hope that people start to wise up. And I agree with you - if the spouses and sig. others are around - once the Idols fulfill their obligations at the venue - the rest of the time is their personal time and even that during the tour is far and few between. Brooke also mentioned to me that they have 12-13 hour days - so they are constant. Very little downtime.

That completely disgusts me. I can't BELIVE they don't have more security for them, especially Archie because he's a MINOR!! Ugh.

I know it's dumb to say on this board because we are ALL respectful and classy fans, but please please please abide by the Word Nerd Concert Pact and don't act like a complete freak when you meet DC. Him coming out before shows is a wonderful gift for all of us... it would be terrible to ruin it for people going to future shows.

PS, In the event DC (or any other idol) is unable to come out, please try to be understanding of the fact that when they come out to do autographs they are doing so ON THEIR OWN TIME! I know it's been said time and time again, but I feel that this sentiment bears repeating.

Very true. I think that expectations sometimes get way too high and people think it is their God given right to meet him instead of good fortune on their part. I do believe that he is trying with all his might to touch the lives of as many fans as he can. He is one busy guy, though, with many obligations.....many more than to just meet his fans.

Stacey - I agree with you 100% - at every site there should be the word-nerd pact and it is sad to say - but we really need to keep repeating the sentiments time and time again.

It's too bad we cannot make a world-wide distribution (or across the nation at least for this tour) about the W-N Pact - I hope that there is representation from this board at each venue and if the pact could be visible that would be so great. Some people that are making it miserable unfortunately are probably not members of our community.

You are very likely correct. And, unfortunately, people who are willing to exhibit such behavior could probably care less about any sort of pact.

Kim was definitely there last night because someone I know and trust saw her waiting for David outside the afterparty so the story that he left with her isn't that far fetched.
Scott
In a very recent interview during the tour David said he will never turn his back on fans... it just may get more difficult to see so many so often. Don't worry, he knows the crazies are out there. He knows celebs get stalkers and jealous husbands after them. He also knows he can call his dad, his brother, his best friends and hash it out. We have a strong relationship with him and it will last well beyond this honeymoon period. After squeezing in recording time, he and Archie (who had to squeeze in Z100 radio time) literally flew round trip coast-to-coast in 24 hours to make the TCAs, and be home in time for Long Island. Please give them a break! And some credit. Neither of them will let a few a bad apples spoil it for everyone. Just don't expect the level of accessibility to remain this way on his solo tour.

Hi Trina: Yes, Kim is here this week with David - which I think is a wonderful thing for David that she is here. If you look at the threads from yesterday that talk about David at LAX airport - Kim is going through Security with him. Everyone should be respecting David and Kim (my feeling)

You're right Scott... I think that DC will come out as often as he can, regardless of his experiences with crazy fans. BUT, I was just going by a quote in another thread where Archie told a poster on this board that DC wasn't coming out after the show because of a previous experience with a crazy fan. I'm sure he's over it by now, and I think he realizes that people are likely to act a lot crazier AFTER a show as opposed to before. This might be an unexplained phenomenon, but I have seen it time and time again at many different events. Someone will go to a show and not even care much about it, but after the performance they get completely star struck and feel like they HAVE to meet the band/performer. I liked to refer to these people as starf*****s. Please pardon my language. laugh.gif We've all seen it before, I'm sure.

I have been thinking about DC's solo tour and wondering if he'll do autographs before the show... and I think you're right about that too. I don't think there will be quite as many "I met him" stories on that tour.

Unfortunately, the bigger Cook & Archie get as the release of their CD's gets closer, the trolls will come out of the woodwork. sad.gif They will need more security. Right now, American Idol productions is providing security and it's obviously not enough.

How sad for respectful fans who just want to say HI and get autographs and photos...

Agreed! I'm very happy for DC as well. smile.gif It must be nice to have her around.

I agree with those here that say DC doesn't owe the fans anything! BRAVO! I think the fans should be greatful that they got a chance to see him perform and be happy with that because a lot of people can't even afford to go to these shows with the price of gas the way it is now because the closest venue may be too far away from them. That is the case with me. I figured when KC came back with him that the fans would go berserk and to me that is just inexcusable. As Krista said last night, the woman has done nothing wrong. My thinking is that the story got blown way out of proportion. We know from the recaps that came through here last night when the show ended that he DID come out yesterday afternoon. While it's true that some of the fans may not be able to get there that early, it's still not DC's, Archie's, or anyone else's fault. These 10 people are doing the very best that they can and it's a shame that the fans can't give them back the respect that the idols are trying to show them in tern by giving them a good concert. It wouldn't surprise me at all if these meet 'n' greets come to a screeching halt.

Sorry as I didn't see it anywhere else or I would not have posted. I was only trying to let people know to maybe try to meet him BEFORE show as after may not be happening much anymore and I honestly don't blame any of them if they quit the after shows, maybe get more sleep instead ..

Yes some fans saw him and KC get in limo but again makes no diff to me on that but we know how SOME fans will react to that. Happy he has a friend with him even for a few days but I hate seeing reactions from some and of course it will make it harder for the 2 of them

I agree regarding the stories slowly dimishing once he goes on his solo tour. What will probably happen is what happens with other groups today i.e. BonJovi, Mooron 5, ect. the Meets and Greets will consist of a small manageable group of people - if the Radio stations are lucky enough they will be getting a group of tickets and fans will need to dial in to answer some question or it will be who you know either through the venue or DJ or record company, someone like that.

That is the case with many of us. If they were coming here (Bham) I would certainly be there and maybe I would even bug my stepfather to get me something from Cookie since the Idols typically stay at the hotel where he works
and he has gotten autographs from many of them. I thought it was a bit unusual that they weren't coming this year until I read that last year's concert had a 39% selling capacity. Ouch. Don't blame them but wish they were headed here as I think they'd do much better this time around.

KC is probably there, but I've also heard that he did come out after the show, so who knows at this point. I'm taking all of these fan encounters about who did/didn't come out from a huge grain of salt. Even if he didn't come out, it doesn't mean it's her fault. Maybe he had studio time and they were going to let her watch. We don't know.

I definitely think the "meet-ups" are not a mandatory thing even though I'd love to be one of the lucky ones! But they are a good PR tool. Many people are more inclined to support someone they "think" they know or can get to know. Not the way I feel but the way many feel unfortunately.

Also, I know artists have to have a give and take relationship with the radio stations but I really hate having to "know someone" or be the right caller to meet my favorite singer. I'd love to see it be a "perk" at the Official fan club when there is one. I know other artists do that. I think David could also make a bloody fortune for ACS if he auctioned off front row tix and a meet-n-greet for the winner at each venue. Just some thoughts. I've never been one who liked to schmooze the radio stations...or suck up to anyone for that matter. Who knows? Maybe he'll continue the pre-show signings...he'd definitely keep his fans that way. Just add some security...okay David?

You know, this is just so sad. I can't even believe that people are jumping ARCHIE now.. poor little Archie. It's ridiculous. People act this way and then they get mad when they don't come out. Well, put two and two together idiots. Nicole and I made that poster with the Word Nerd pact on it, thinking that maybe it'd knock some sense into people's heads. I wish that everyone would follow it. David is supposed to be having the time of his life (no pun intended, and I'm sure he's loving every minute) on this tour, and he shouldn't have to be worrying about his safety.

I think it just makes me the saddest because half the time, it seems like everyone thinks that they sit backstage and twiddle their thumbs until it's time for the M&G..

Rockfan22 - I was just using the Radio station, Record Company, ect. as an example. I agree with you I am sure that David will think out of the box and have wonderful ways to meet and greet his fans either before or after the performances. Adding the extra security is a definate must.

as it is, david was generous enough to contribue 4 tickets and passes for the kc show as part of the ACS fundraing efforts that we see on this site. NOTE: to the Kansas City show...where he's already got friends and family whom he could have given those passes to...AND passes are hard to come by.

Well said! I was at the Toronto show, and I met David for about 2 seconds before the show, got an autograph and gave him a gift. Everyone around me was complaining about how Archie didn't come out and how David was rushing too much. They expect way too much out of the idols. I mean, what on earth do they expect from them? A freaking dinner date or something? Ugh, people annoy me. dry.gif David and any of the other idols don't HAVE to come out and meet fans, it's their choice to. People should just be grateful of that. I mean, I drove 5 hours down to Toronto, spent 200 dollars on a hotel for a night, and used up literally all of my money on the trip. I was just happy to be able to go and to see them perform. Sure, I would've loved to take a picture with Cook and Archie, etc. but there wasn't enough time. Oh well. It's not that big of a deal, but people get so worked up over it and act as if the idols are doing something horribly wrong by not coming out or not taking pictures with fans. Their expectations of the idols are waaaay too high. dry.gif

Seems like everyone is assuming that he jumped into the limo to avoid the fans and be alone. I doubt that.
My hubby is an Top Exec with a lot of professional/social obligation. We often have had to run from one thing to another in the same evening. No, it is not glamourous, it is grueling.
It is most likely he had a professional/social obligation back in Manhattan that he had to get to. Remember this is the "City that never sleeps" and this City is the economic center of the world and is filled with business professionals ( entertainment, product endorsement, marketing, etc) he needs to rub elbows with. He will not be back this way for more then a month. All to bring his music to us.

Yeah, it's really sad the expectations people have of them. I was able to meet him at all of my shows, and I feel EXTREMELY lucky..like I wasn't even expecting once, let alone 4 times. I would have been happy with just seeing him on that stage, ya know? Most of the time they even beg security to let them stay out a few minutes longer, and yet people STILL aren't satisfied. Look at Michael Johns, who nearly gets himself in trouble for being late to M&Gs just to stay out and sign longer. laugh.gif

Keep in mind everyone that it is not often HIS decision whether he comes out for the signings or not. Security tells them to come and go, based on how much time they have, and how safe it is. They assess the crowd and if it's too chaotic, they won't send out the Davids, or they'll send them out one at a time, but not often both at once. Cook seems to have more CRAZY fans than the others, too, so that plays a huge factor in whether or not he is ALLOWED to come out to sign.

Couple this with his obligations, of which he has MANY more than the other Idols, and he can't always be there. I'm sure he'd LOVE to come out for each and every signing, but it just isn't physically possible, until they get that cloning machine up and running.

His safety AND his album should come first. Any fan who does not understand that isn't really a fan.

David, if you are reading this, know that we love you and respect all that you are going through, and all that you do to ensure that each show is special and that each fan you DO get the chance to meet feels special. That's all you can do, and it's more than we should expect. You don't owe us a thing.

Much love to you and yours,
~Kristen

This is so true but it seems some people don't care about that which is sad. Safety should be the first priority! I would also like a DC for myself too when that machine gets going. tongue.gif

First off I'm going to start by saying this...

DAVID COOK OWES US NOTHING...

A THANK YOU?
I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO COUNT HOW MANY TIMES THAT MAN HAS SAID THAT WORD TOWARD US.

He gave us music..

MUSIC IS A PART OF HIM, DON'T you think he's given us enough?

.
.
.
When he walks outside to sign autographs, he doesn't have to do that.
He doesn't owe us pictures, He doesn't owe us autographs, or even a conversation.
just because we picked up phone lines and voted for him...that was OUR CHOICE.
.
I know when he does come out it's because he's grateful
.
But... I have to say this... If people keep acting greater than thou, and have that attitude, he's going to start despising coming outside.
.

Whether Kimberly Caldwell is with him or not, it's his decision. So maybe he wants to spend time with her, you know. I think she makes him happy. I am all for whatever make David Cook happy.
.
He's working his *** off and a record for us!
He's flying back and forth getting little sleep to make a record FOR US.
Because we VOTED him OUR AMERICAN IDOL.
BECAUSE WE LOVE HIS MUSIC!
HE PROMISED A GOOD CD AND I'M SURE HE'LL DELIVER.
.
.
HE NEVER PROMISED US ANYTHING ELSE
SO IF WE GET SOMETHING ELSE?
IT'S AN ADDED BONUS.

.
.
I LOVE DAVID COOK.
MOSTLY FOR THE MUSIC.
AND, I'M GOOD WITH JUST THAT.

I DONT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE....AND IM NOT YELLING.
THIS IS JUST HOW I SEE IT.

traceymc
Oh, and another thing to remember...the Idol tour organizers schedule an "after party" for each show. That can last anywhere from a half hour to an hour. Signing for fans after that just extends their night. There were lots of NYC industry people at the LI show. The Davids are not surprisingly the most popular at the after party, so they get stuck there the longest.

Thank you Krista for your intelligent thoughts on all of this madness. Of course everyone loves the Davids, and the other Idols. There is a tremendous amount of frenzy at the moment, but I would like to send a message to everyone attending the concerts that are hoping to see the Idols and maybe get an autograph. This piece of paper may seem like a huge deal to you right now....but I am guessing that 10 years from now it may have been misplaced or put aside. (Trust me, I know from experience) I think a much more respectful way to meet your favorite idols would be to just stand behind the barriers in a most respectable manner and use your digital camera. A picture is worth a thousand words, and SO much eaiser on the Idols! And of course express your thanks and cheers for a concert well done! And I agree...I imagine that some of the Idols may have S.O. close by this week and of course they need a break from the madness of this tour.

I don't want to get into a whole discussion about what Cook owes or doesn't owe his fans.. but I will say this. I heard someone on Rickey.org show tonight say that "cookie hasn't been out to see his fans in weeks." Well Cook was out with the fans yesterday in LI, so we should should not write anything in here unless we know it to be true.

I think alcohol is the explanation more often than not.

DC's been out periodically over the weeks - alot of it depends on obligations during the day and in the evening after the performance.

As someone mentioned, there were probably other artists, media, record type individuals in Long Island and I know in NJ that was the case as well with various individuals who came to the PruCenter from Manhattan.

Again, as we have mentioned, if people get a chance to see him either in the afternoon or after the show/After Party be grateful and consider it a bonus.

Jul
He hasn't been out to see his fans in weeks? Seriously.. people should think before speaking. He isn't allowed to go in and out at his leisure. They have other obligations in the afternoons, ugh. This gets me so mad the things people say.. and I know it shouldn't. sad.gif

Meeting David with the schedule he has is a bonus and people get that.

There will be times that he will come out and meet the fans (i.e. at the Colisseum yesterday afternoon and last night) and then there will be times that he will not be able to meet the fans the way he wants to.

I just wanted to relate my experience at the coliseum. The crowd was very calm (not always quiet, but calm) and David was also very calm. He was chatty, smiling, hugging (even after being rudely groped once or twice) and talking to everyone. It could not have been a better experience and he was obviously enjoying it, we heard him laugh out loud more than once. When he came by us, he posed for all the pictures he didn't have time for yesterday, and even hammed it up a bit, taking a pic with the sharpie stuck in the side of his sunglasses. When we asked him if he would lower his sunglasses, he did and then made the most hysterical squinty face for the picture.
It was just a really great experience and we feel so lucky. I guess if he CAN do it he will, if he can't do it, it would probably not be his fault. Oh, did I add that I am wondering how can one person possibly look so hot in a plain white T-shirt?

My sentiments exactly, Kristen. David coming out to meet his fans should only be regarded as a bonus and not a must, which is something each and every fan has to be made known. He doesn't owe anyone any friggin' explanation if he doesn't.

After reading this thread, I am absolutely annoyed and appalled that so-called fans are out to boo David's safety, which I too feel isn't a true-blue fan in this case. That also applies to those who doesn't truly understand the T&C (terms and conditions) of the Word Nerd pact, which Nicole gave David some time back.

Yikes!! Having people grope you without your permission is WAY out of line!! I'd be freaked out about that too! I think fans also need to keep in mind the "Golden Rule" and always think how they would feel if complete strangers came up to grope them. Too bad that this can potentially ruin it for the fans. sad.gif
Nitnat20
I really don't get "crazy" fans! I know that people get excited about seeing their Idols, but you don't want to SCARE them! I went to three concerts (Columbus, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati) and I felt bad for the Idols when there were crazy people around. I was afraid for my life after the Indianapolis concert..so I can't even imagine how they feel! It is definately crazier after the shows! In Indy, there were so many people...and they were all pushing! I was at the barrier and I was being crushed...it was so bad that Archie, Carly, Jason, and Chikezie all asked the crowd to stop pushing! The girl next to me couldn't breathe even...it was bad! It got worse when DC and Archie came around though. I really feel sorry for them when people just scream in their faces! I would never do that...I wouldn't be able to anyway...I kind of go mute when they are around... especially DC...LOL!

It makes me mad when people get mad when they don't come out to sign things. angry.gif They don't owe anybody anything! The amazing show is thank you enough! They all put on such a great show! Some people were mad in Indy when he didn't come out in the afternoon. He was out with his DAD...he deserves time with his family when he can get it! I wasn't expecting him to come out after the concert because of his family...but he did! It was such a nice surprise! People were also mad that he didn't come out after the concert in Columbus. He spent like an hour and a half to two hours by the buses that afternoon though! He took pics with and signed things for most everybody there! I was so happy to see him up close and personal! I really wasn't expecting that...so it was great! In Cincinnati, he came out in the afternoon but then had to go in for an interview, but he came out and signed autographs (and gave me a hug ohmy.gif ) and then when he realized he still had some time, he went back down the line taking pics with everybody! It was so exciting!! smile.gif He didn't have to do any of that, but he did! I know that people want to meet him (as well as the other Idols) because they (the fans) feel like they(the Idols) owe it to the fans for voting for them, but the show should be thanks enough!

It just angers me when fans get crazy. Unfortunately, crazy fans could ruin it for the rest of the fans. I really hope that doesn't happen. They need more securty out there though. In Columbus, the security was pretty tight in the evening. There was someone with them all mostly. In Indy, the security wasn't very good though. In Cinci, the security in the afternoon wasn't very good, but it wasn't really needed. I have no clue about after the show because my friend and I left right after the Aftershow Party. I did notice that there were quite a few people waiting. It looked like there were cops out there, but I am not sure. I just hope that the crazies don't ruin it for everyone. I just think they need to beef up security a bit when the crowds get crazy.

COOKIES-N-CREAM
yea see we went to SLC concert and the after lines were VERY calm, even when we realized time was about out and we had only seen 4 girls nobody threw fits or tried to rush up to the front, I was really impressed.

I don't think DC even came out then bc that is night he did gumby and hurt his knee LOL, course I don't know for sure bc we only saw the 4 girls down at our end LOL

I think some of these annoyed fans are just annoyed BC they can't brag on the HUGS and stuff, It's like they want to feel special and say they MET the MAN, almost like throwing names around KWIM..

And of course they have seen all the other meeting starting with Lindz who had the best experience and almost had the man to herself lOL , I think so many are jealous and really just act upon it unfortunatley.

Makes you wonder IF the idols had NEVER started coming out then nobody would be complaining wink.gif , So count it lucky to get the extra 5 seconds that alot of us never got but were still THRILLED to see the show!!!!

I have seen some nasty posts over this stuff (NOT HERE) and it is shocking, ARE they a fan of David's music and talent or just his looks and having a pic to say LOOK what I have huh.gif

NO clue really, Just MEAN people SUCK!!!!

chicka_latina
MEAN people do SUCK!! And honestly, yelling at the Idols is really rude. I really hope this does not affect the rest of the fans.. sad.gif
niftywench
mean people certainly do suck and need to STEP OFF!!!!
smile.gif

my sister dated a very popular musician years ago and it was frightening the way people acted around him, and even my sister! she had death threats and sickos trying to come to our house. it makes me sick that people do this but every fandom has the sick, demented crowd. i just hope David will be ok.

I am writing this to let everyone know how much the idols appreciate their fans and do not like to dissapoint
them.

I was at Atlantic City waiting outside for the idols for 5 hours. I was very sad when they didn' show up. However,
I knew something must have happened thay they could not control to stop all of them from coming out.
I knew David Cook would never not come out before and after one show unless it was not in his control.

I had a strong feeling that they would make a special effort to greet their fans on Monday in Long Island.
I was right. At approximately 3:00 A car came driving by us fans and someone put his arm out of the
car to say hello. It was david. Both him and David A. had just rushed back from California, however,
not long after we saw the car, David Cook came walking up from the underground parking lot. He was
in a great mood smiling and jocking with everyone. Both him and brooke told me that they could not control
not coming out to the fans at Atlantic City. Brooke said, "They would not let us go out, they said it was too
late". She also said that everyon felt very badly. They hated disappointing the fans.

David took a good amount of time talking to me. I gave him a hat and asked him to wear it for a little girl
that has brain cancer so I could take a picture and show her and her mother. He put the hat on top of
his hat and gave a thumbs up. He also signed something for me and the little girl.

David Cook it beautiful inside and outside.

I don' think he woulld ever not come out both before and after in one show if he had any control over the
situation. He did not come out after the show that night. Maybe he was exhausted. He has a grueling schecule.
We need to understand that. At Atlantic City he sounded a little horse. I worry sometimes that he is doing too
much.

More idols showed up after the show than before including David A. He was in a great mood and seemed like
he was having a lot of fun. He did not seem to be afraid of anything. The fans before and after the show
we pretty calm.

Considering how sorry the idols were about not coming out in Atlantic City, I don't think anyon has to worry
about them ignoring or being afraid of their fans.

I am sorry about the putting the same picture up three times. I just learned how to upload the pictures. or should

I'm an international fan and I will be very proud, honored and glad to make the Word-Nerd Pact well known and respected by everybody here.
Count on me for that if DC happens to come to Argentina on his solo tour.
