As we already know by now, David will be performing at a one-off stop in the Philippines, come January 27th, 2009. Hence, this thread is specially for fans all over the world, who are contemplating/planning to fly to Manila for this very purpose.
A few of us from Singapore, including me, will be making that trip there. Anybody else from D-C.org going to catch him 'LIVE' over there in Manila?
Also, Cookulets/Pinoy Word Nerds are welcomed to post here too, at least to offer useful tips and advice on things like airfare, accomodations etc. Suggestions and opinions are sincerely welcomed.
**PS: It would be most appreciated if the Tagalog dialect/language be used at a minimal, so that we can understand and interact with one another. Also, not every of us know how to speak Tagalog. All apologies for that inconvenience caused.

Okay, useful tips:
Airfare:
Budget ones from Singapore:
JetStar,
Cebu PacificBudget from Malaysia:
AirAsia,
Cebu PacificOf course if budget is not an issue, Singapore Airlines, Silk Air, Malaysia Air and Philippine Airlines fly these routes daily too.
Hotel:
I'm holding off on suggesting until we know the venue for DC's concert. You'd probably want one closer to the venue.
If y'all have questions that we can answer, just post them here or PM me. We'd be glad to help.

YAY A MEET UP WOULD BE COOL

With an event as big as this, I'm assuming it will be held at the
Araneta Coliseum (Like that of FOB, PATD and the rest), or
Bonifacio Open Field (Like Beyonce!) But we can still consider Eastwood City, or SMX Convention. Although, Araneta would be the best place for this.
So I'm recommending these hotels, (5 star

good service!)
Edsa Shangri-la Ortigas or
Crowne Plaza would be a 10-minute train/cab ride from Araneta and would be near eastwood as well.
Or Edsa Shangri-la Makati/ Hotel Intercontinental which would be roughly 10-20 minutes away from Bonifacio Open Field.
Or you can always google manila hotels. If you have questions, let us know

I have a feeling the organizers are considering booking David in these hotels. They're the finest in Manila. They're pretty pricey, though. If you're looking for a less costly place to stay in, we'll be glad to look for one.

I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YAH!

I STRONGLY ADVICE AGAINST making any permanent arrangements now. David has recently said that he isn't sure about the date. (Looks like he shot of his mouth before, guess he was excited, lol) Until we have a 100% confirmed date and venue, don't do anything yet.
With that said, I am absolutely getting my rear end to Philly, as I told Vera and Cookey's Fan. And I'm hoping the dates don't coincide with another event I have going on. Otherwise I'm screwed, lol. But omg, Cookie.

Yes, it's gonna be epic, especially when we international fans can actually get to meet together.
On the other hand, it's okay to make plans for the trip, but it's not alright to make instant confirmations. From how I see it, so far it's only the date that hasn't actually been fixed. I have that feeling David will still be hoppin' over to the Philippines - only that there's no knowing when or where yet.

I agree about not making any firm plans just yet but no harm in trying to find info on air ticket and hotel prices.
Just my 2 cents regarding any petitions, I don't think its a good idea guys. I understand the Philippines fans being disappointed but its possible its only the date itself that's not confirmed. My guess is that with so much still not confirmed in terms of single release date, album release date and all the promo David will be doing in support of his new album, that is very likely the reason as to why any gig dates can't be fully confirmed. Just hang tight guys. Like David said (and has proven on the AI tour so far) he WANTS to be able to meet all his fans. If it were up to him, I think he'll go everywhere his fans are.

Don't put pressure on him. I really think he's trying to do the best he can and right now the main priorities are the AI tour plus recording his album, which put together are already pretty demanding. Just keep on supporting the guy and I'm sure he'll make it out to the WORLD soon enough.

Word, to all that's being said. I didn't mean don't plan at all, I'm just saying don't make any confirmations until after we're sure.
I have a few questions for all those in the Philly's...
1. Who usually handles tickets? (In the States, we've got TicketMaster, and in Malaysia, TicketAccess, etc)
2. Assuming it's Araneta stadium, what are the seating arrangements like?
3. Would it be better to get tickets closer to the date or earlier? Like you know sometimes how you hold out till last minute and then score really close seats?

Hi JP --
1. We have Ticketnet
2. Areneta Colisuem is your standard basketball stadium but they close off one side for the stage when it's used as a concert venue so it usually looks like this

hey Cookey's Fan, thanks for starting this thread.
I have been thinking about making the trip there.....because I think if he's really going to Philipines, that will be his only South East Asia stop. But then again, I was thinking, Avril Lavigne is going to be here in KL Malaysia this month and Spore next month. So, i'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
Anyway, I really want to go Philipines to see DC. But if I travel here alone, my mum might not welcome the idea of me travelling alone. I've not been to the Philipines before.
So, I want to find out, any DC FANS FROM MALAYSIA? Thinking of making the trip there too? Once the date has been confirm, shall we make arrangement together and travel as a group? I also would love the idea of us (from Msia/Spore/Indonesia) all staying over at the same hotel so that we can move around together. The more, the merrier. Of course, we will really appreciate it if DC fans in the Philipines can help to recommend where to stay and how to get about from the airport and stadium.

let's just say that it's a mall in every sense of the word but its scale is unreal.
it's bigger than eastwood city.
there's an ampitheatre but i dont think DC fans will fit LOL
maybe the open field beside it?
Araneta seems ideal though.

So, I've been doing some serious planning. Although I know the date is not confirm yet by David and his manageemnt, there is no harm in planning in advance.
I just need to ask a few questions. Would really appreciate it if any Phily fans can help.
1. Araneta Coliseum - what is the exact location name. I need to google for hotel options.
2. What is the usual concert ticket price, e.g the Beyonce/FOB shows? The best price ticket or the lowest? Need to check budget.
3. When I start to get things moving (planning for myself and some Msian/Spore fans), I would love to have a permanent correspondent to help the travelling fans. Hence, volunteers needed (whom I can PM/email through other personal email add) - to advise on when tickets are release, to contact upon our arrival and to advise on how to move about between airport-hotel-stadium, etc.
Thanks for your help. Man....when I'm on this site, I feel like we've all clicked so well. I really seriously think David has the best fans ever on planet earth.

odds are it's channel 7 because of PInoy Idol but everything depend on the organizer's and the management's agreement on the extent of DC's itenirary.
if it's just concert and press, M&G are usually at the mercy of the sponsors and the record label.
but so far no buzz so everyone just needs to sit back and pray and wait.
