OK, I know this is nothing new to anyone here, but I just had one of those random "wow" moments. As usual, I was working at home listening to my iTunes on the computer, set at random. Ummm....all but 1 song is David's, I have to admit (AI everything, plus Axium - I had to load AH up elsewhere). I can't even say what song did it, but out of nowhere I just became aware of David's voice a little more in the midst of doing work and checking the Boards here, and thought, "Good Lord, what a beautiful voice". I know, nothing new there. But there is NO ONE ELSE that has that effect on me, ever, musically. And I've had that thought, or just "wow", with him more times than I can count. And then I listened more closely again after that, which just confirmed it. I'm glad my endlessly playing his music hasn't dulled that for me yet.

I completely understand this! There are STILL moments when I'm listening to a song DC is singing, and I just stop and think..."WOW, what a voice."

I get that feeling every time his songs come on on my Ipod too! I get goosebumps listening to his voice. He really cuts deep! I can listen to him over and over and never tire from his lyrics!

Yep, same here. I was painting my dining room today and really cranking my itunes rock playlist hooked up through the living room home theater/speakers. I have many artists on there, but David dominates (all his AI stuff, Axium, all of AH, My Hero from Leno). So, I'm alone and had the volume way up, rocking out, and three times when one of David's songs came on I was just amazed at some new things I heard. Cranking it up and playing out on good speakers really shows off the tonal qualities in his voice. I can't wait to hear his new CD played in the CD player through a good sound system!

Know exactly what you mean, I took a road trip with my sister this weekend, and I put my CD compilation of David's AI songs. I've heard them a million times already, but my sister is a casual AI fan, she saw a few episodes and knew who won of course, but did not watch it each week.
So the CD gets to Music of the Night (studio version), and out of the corner of my eye (I was supposed to be driving!) I can see my sister all of a sudden really focusing and really absorbing the music, and I could tell SHE was getting the WOW factor, so it made me listen a little more closely, and especially that last note at the end, where he holds it for like 15 seconds in such a controlled manner rather than powering it out, well both of us were like WOW!
(She commented that he has a beautiful voice -- but of course we knew that!)
(P.P.S. On the way home, she asked for DC on the CD again -- perhaps we have a new convert in our midsts?)

I know what you mean. He has that affect on all of us. You've all heard this before, but this was the first season that I was so passionate about who was going to win. (I've only watched about 3 seasons) Yes, I was a fan of Chris Daughtry and was very upset when he lost, but I truly think I would have been devastated had David lost.
And it's not just his musical talent. His heart comes through his music. I just watched a new DVD that I received today from an "idols" link that showed all of David's performances with AI and I was still amazed watching him singing some of those songs. Adn the emotion is amazing. It's his passion, his heart, his soul, that truly shines through his voice. If you know what I mean?
Am glad to hear your sister might be a new convert.

I have listened to David's music hundreds of times already, but still get excited and happy when I hear his voice, even if it's TOML playing over the radio. I get goosebumps all over and those drop everything I'm busy doing, braindead stare at the ceiling moments when he hits those high notes, Billie Jean gets me every single time

. I thought this crazy feelings would have cooled down by now, but it's as if they're getting worser and worser still .... I don't wanna be near me when his album comes out, my poor poor husband

Ditto to everything you said. His music never fails to tire us. I still listen to other artists but when it comes to DC, all I could say is well... I couldn't find any appropriate word for this because it could mean amazing, fantastic, good, great, perfect, etc. I also still get excited whenever I hear his music wherever I am and I also still get goosebumps whenever I hear him hit the high notes.

I was out of town for two days and was having major David withdrawal. The moment I walked in the door, I dropped my luggage on the living room floor, ran to my computer and turned on my itunes so that I could have my DC fix. I have never in my many, many years ever been this taken by a performer. His voice is so haunting that I cannot get enough of this man. Thank goodness I am on vacation from work for the rest of the week, so I can catch up with the videos, pics, and Mavid moments. So girls, you are NOT alone. I have tickets to see Daughtry in a few weeks and I probably will be watching the concert and thinking of David the whole time, anticipating the day when I can see him live on his solo tour.

Damn, I need to get an ipod. (Mary runs to get dressed and grabs car keys to go buy an ipod).

I am glad I am not alone. I also find David's voice haunting and mesmerizing--especially in Billie Jean.
I too have never been this taken by a performer. I watched AI when Daughtry was on and liked him but never voted for him. Watching David Cook this year --I just had to vote---I just could not let it go. He captured by soul as well as my heart with his music.
His music is all I listen to in my car --I am not sure if my other CDs still work..lol.
I am still finding amazing things about his voice and how he sings with his entire heart and soul. He has a way of making one feel exactly what he is feeling in a song--and I believe that is one of the numerous reasons we are all so "hooked on cook".
I am trying to listen to other music, but most of them sound flat compared to David. I thought I would be able to wean myself slightly away from his music by now---but I guess not. Hopefully, that is not a bad thing.
As I said, I am glad I am not alone in this---thanks for sharing.

Yep, don't even know who to reply to since I agree with you all. Those tears that surface when his music comes on the tv or radio still surprise me - mixture of joy, delight, pride.
I keep thinking I need to get back to some of the other music I used to enjoy but right now my cd changer at home has all 5 slots filled with David's music - love as Scott said to hear it blasting through a good sound system. And those are the first 5 CD's I've burned! Still checking out ipods to purchase....my how he has changed my life.
My kids say "What happened to Daughtry?" I still like him, but..........his nor anyone's voice and music has ever had the effect on me that David's does. Sounds like I'm in good company

I do that
all the time, I think we all do
I know what you mean about listening to the same thing all the time sort of ruining it for you, that's happened to me more times than I can count, but I feel I can safely say, without a doubt, that I will
never get tired of David's voice. I could listen to only him for a week straight and still be completely in love with his music. Come to think of it, I think I have before

ditto! i will be listening to a song and hear a note or inflection or throaty growl that i'm sure i've heard a hundred (litterally) times, but i'll be like OMG that is so awesome. i rediscover something about him every day.

I have my AI iTunes CD in my Cd carousel player and listen to it every night and sometimes I can't go to sleep until I hear TOML, I get chills every time I hear it. I need to count the days cause I have listened to that CD every night since May 23rd. I listen to it on iTunes when I use the computer, sometimes I listen to it during the day for the first couple of weeks I know I listened to it 4 times a day at least, I couldn't get enough and I still can't, I've never listened to a CD this much before. I made a pretty cover to go in a case for it, but I haven't taken it out of the player to use it. Sometimes I turn the CD player on repeat and so the 5 discs play and David will come on again in the middle of the night and I can be dead asleep and by the time All Right Now comes on I sit bolt upright, I hear Happy Together, but I don't wake up right away it's so weird. Sometimes I don't always wake up to the others, but Hello and TOML will wake me up right away. I belong to this CD club where I get 1 a month for a low price as long as I continue to buy 1 a month, I'm like 4 months behind on listening to them, I can't quit playing David long enough. The things that man has done to me. Lord help when the new album comes out. I hope I can fix my mom's iPod so I can get him on there and keep him with me. And horror of horrors my mom's jeep only plays cassettes, so I have to put the cd onto a cassette so I can listen to it in the car, which I have yet to do with the iTunes one, will def. have to with the new one.
