So MSNBC.com has been including a bit on "Cover Songs." Last week, the writer listed his picks for the "Worst Cover Songs," and asked readers to comment on what they think are the worst remakes.

This week, there is a list of "Awesome Cover Songs." Though the writer doesn't name David Cook, one reader commented and named David Cook's "Hello" and "Billie Jean."

The article is at http://testpattern.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2...21/1278881.aspx. The comment about David Cook is near the end. Chris Daughtrey's version of "Hemorrhage" is also named.

I agree completely, particularly in regard to David's version of "Hello," because he wrote that arrangement himself (didn't he?).

Cool article.
David's original arrangments from AI include Hello, I'm Alive, IDTWMAT, All I Really Need Is You, Little Sparrow (one of my faves), The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, and... his most brilliant (IMO), Always Be My Baby.

I listed the arrangements that were substantially different from the originals... in some cases completely reworked. DC is a master at this.

Little Sparrow (one of my faves)

That's one of my favorites, and most played, too. The richness of his voice really resonates in that song. It's a lovely, emotional arrangement that is utterly respectul of Dolly Parton's beautiful original. (Love her, too.)

li 'l sparrow, ABMB along with Hello, BJ, I'm Alive - all my favorites - he kicked them all up. The only one he did straight to the original was MOTN.

Actually Incubus did a version of Hello a few years back. . .David used that version as an inspiration for the version of Hello on AI. I agree that David is great at singing alternative versions of covers and is a brilliant songwriter.
