Let's discuss

Although they're ahead of schedule, I don't think we'll get the album early~ They have very limited time, so no way it can release like early October. After that, the media would be all about election, it's best to release
mid-late November.
A earlier single may be possible~

Yeah an earlier single might be good but although I would love for the album to come out earlier it would be best id he brought it out in November as planned

I'm thinking it will be a November release for the CD. It's great that he is ahead of schedule. He was even saying there were ahead of schedule when they they first arrived in Florida last week. As Dorothy pointed out, all 10 are on a tight schedule now, especially both Davids, and if everything keeps running smoothly, I anticipate an early November release for the album and I would say 11/11, as far as November is concerned as far as the earliest in November it could be released. Because of 11/4 being election day, I think that is our best case scenario at this point.

and 11/11 happens to be lucky, or at least to me it is......I always make wishes at 11:11 so I think releasing the album on 11/11 would be great!

Even being ahead they'll want to maximize hype/exposure and November is when all the heavy hitters are releasing. The only debut AI albums that were released in October were Kellie Pickler and Clay's. Generally it's not a month they go for. This
Rolling Stone article talking about big Fall releases mentions him and again November is mentioned

The fall starts with Metallica's Rick Rubin-produced 10th studio album, Death Magnetic, which is due September 12th. New releases from Jennifer Hudson, Pussycat Dolls, Akon, T-Pain and Kings of Leon will follow in September and October, but the quarter doesn't truly pick up until November, with the Killers, David Cook, David Archuleta, Black Eyed Peas and R. Kelly. (Even Guns n' Roses' Chinese Democracy has a chance: A source tells Rolling Stone that a November release date has been selected in case the band decides to put it out.)

Yeah, that is a problem, everyone, I mean seriously, EVERYONE is releasing new album this fall, it's insane.

But, well, what can you do about that...

He may not stay ahead. It seems the news on that front has been back and forth, at times he's ahead, at times he's said they're falling behind. For the most part tho, he's said they're ahead. I think its to be expected that it varies. Things don't always go as planned and the tour is still in full swing right now so that's got to affect the schedule.
I wouldn't worry tho even if its delayed. I'm actually excited about having something to look forward to even if it IS November.

That is some good buzz for both Davids.

Has he said again they were behind after the DC show? Because that one time he said it I'm still convinced it's because he had to address why he isn't coming out after the show to a large crowd and recording/album commitments is the reason he's choosing to stick with. Because really, he's not recording every single night. He said at one of the Florida shows to someone he had 10 songs done which sounds like a good pace given limited studio time.

I heard him say on a youtube vid that he was ahead of schedule. That was while they were in Ft. Lauderdale which was when he wrote his latest blog.

I think they really got caught up over the last few weeks. He had 2 full days in LA at the end of last week (between Tampa and Houston) and was in the SF Valley recording the whole time. That's probably enough studio time to finish the 20 tracks. Or most of them. His last interview was just before then. Now they'll need to widdle it down to a dozen and do all the post production, mixing and mastering. He might have to do some pickup tracks. Trust me, if he hears himself played back and his voice isn't to his own standards, he will insist on some short re-tracking sessions. As great as his voice is, he did some recording (esp in NYC) right after concerts when his voice may have been tired or hoarse. I suspect he'll retrack some stuff right after the tour.

Don't forget, his partner Neal(Doctor) has been sequestered in LA - so Neal has been doing alot as well.

I've said before that I haven't bought a "physical" CD single in years. Actually, the last singles I bought were vinyl 45s back in the day. I have downloaded more than a hundred from itunes over the last 3 years.
Are there still such things as "B" sides? Like, would David's new single (or did Archie's "Crush") have a 2nd "B" song on it? I'm wondering if TOML will be a "B" side to his new single, but not on the album. We've already discussed it being a bonus track. I have a feeling we won't see it anywhere other than a stand-alone single on itunes. I kind of see David and Cavallo winning this battle at this point.

Here is a vid that was posted here from the afternoon Houston M&G. It's only 30 seconds basically but he talks about being on only 3 hours of sleep but he said he got a lot accomplished during those 2 days.

Do CD singles still exist? I wouldn't know since I haven't bought a CD in years. Anyway, David could wait until he has enough B-sides to put them all on one album together similar to what the Killers did with their "Sawdust" album last year. If memory serves me correctly, I believe the Smashing Pumpkins did something similar as well. More recently, with the advent of digital downloads surging in popularity, many artists release their B-side tracks as a download-only EP.

I think that it won't be any earlier than November. November is a great time because it is getting near the holiday shopping push. I'm happy when I hear they are ahead of schedule because that gives them more time to perfect the final product. I don't want them to have to rush to get it out.

Yes, Smashing Pumpkins did that! And U2 added "B" side singles to their compilation album. "Sweetest Thing" (U2's most un-U2 song ever!) was the B side to "Where the Streets Have no Name" and was never on "Joshua Tree" or an other album until the compilation album.

I don't think I know any guy that would be that nice with just 3 hours of sleep.
it would be great to get our paws on his new album earlier then expected but I agree with Jeannine, its prime time for shopping, it would be a fab stocking stuffer.

CD singles are very, very rare these days. BMG/19 especially haven't touched since season 5. These days when there are extra tracks they want to get out there they simply stick them out there as bonus tracks exclusive to certain retail outlets.

I had actually asked him at the Tampa show if any Analog Heart songs were going to make an appearance on the new album - and he said not as of yet, but that only ten songs were done out of twenty. Guess he must've finished more since then - I completely forgot about the two days in between Tampa and Houston - that's right, he must've had enough time to get at least a few more songs done, which means he's well over half way! So I guess he's going to come up with twenty songs, than pare it down for the album.
SOOOO excited for the album, by the way!

Agree with that 100% - it's one of the reasons the 'oh they're not promoting David, giving all their attention to Archie' brigade make me so annoyed. David is a perfectionist, he wants to put the best product possible out there for us, if it takes until November then fine, TPTB believe in him and are giving him his head, which is the best compliment possible

Hey! Wow! Love your new siggy!

I met David on Monday (8/25) at the Dallas signing before the show! YAY! I got to hug David, too! WOW! Anyway...I asked David if he was going to put Optimistic to a Fault" on the new cd. He said, "no, but one of my old songs might be on there." SO.....there is still that possibility!!!!!
Regardless, if he is ahead of schedule, that is awesome - it gives him more time to perfect it!!

Gosh, the man works so hard! The album is gonna knock our socks off, I'm sure!!!

Yes he did say that in D.C. - I was standing right in front of him when he said it. I think someone actually caught it on video too. You can check the D.C. thread for the link. But that was over a month ago and he's done some work on the record since then.
